No impeached POTUS has ever been removed from office by the senate even when the president is from the senate minority.
But this is particularly a bad precedent by the republican senators... Now, no one can cry foul in future if a president blocks investigations into his misdemeanours or the senate majority blocks a fair impeachment trial (no evidences or witnesses allowed).

"whistleblower" won't even testify when Schiff said he would many times for the House trial. Trump releases the transcript of the call
