I guess you didn’t read what the OP posted very well, police said “ they sent us signal to seize all bikes” they didn’t say any thing about kits. They are foolish if they had to hear from their superior to know if it’s okada or a power bike.

See this illiterate....
Is it what the OP posted that is legal or what Lagos state mandated in their rulebook.
"courier companies, dispatch riders, newspaper dispatching motorcycles, and motorbikes are exempted from the ban and they must be well kitted"

Imagine how they delayed the man unnecessarily despite all efforts.. Are they even supposed to arrest Power bike users? Does Power Bike look like a commercial bike?

The Nigerian Police consists of at least 85% gun freaks, trigger happy miscreants and illiterates who just found themselves to be in that Uniform. They miss no opportunity to exhibit their foolishness, greed, incompetence and illiteracy whenever it arises. Lord knows if i had my way into position of power, i will scrap the entire Police force and do a total reset by employing new ones who are more competent, well qualified, enlightened and have undergone proper training...

Apt comment!

You can imagine the shame on their faces after embarrassing their selves, relatives, children,NPF Nationwide and Lagos State Command and the Nation at large.

The sad thing about this.... higher ups knew... what action did they take against the officers? None. The same guy is likely to be stopped another day and his bike seized by the same officers...... no one to put thru a call on his behalf... it is finished.

Some of these policemen are the real criminals we have in Nigeria. Something drastic should be done to curtail their excesses. We still have good officers though. We still see them on high ways with uniform and okada and nothing happens. In Nigeria, the law is for the poor and vulnerable masses. God will surely help us i pray.

Men ! the masses in Lagos are not smiling at all!!..If the police had continued with their gragra on arresting this young man with his power bike, then those crowed would have use that opportunity to unleash their hanger of all week of trekking long distance under the hot sun on those police people. Abeg, make una fear the power of the mob especially when there is anger in the land.Thank God it was settled amicably just that police did not get their egunje that they expecting to extort from the man..poor them. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Most of the bikes seized by the police are being used personally by the officers who seized them.

Yours would have been a very good bike for the most senior officer. You got lucky.

Took police away for what? Even if they are all illiterate but not kindergarten.

Policemen are the most useless set of people.... I know there are good ones bit the bad eggs just make it impossible for me to like them.

Exactly same thing happened .... A Naval friend of mine came visiting and we decided to go and hang out at a cool spot. On our way there was a road block with policemen, they stopped our bike and asked us to come down.

Despite telling them that the Okada is private and we were friends actually going out they corked guns and pointed to our heads and seized the bike. My naval friend kept quiet , he just told them to tell him their station that he is coming to bail his bike .... The idiots were busy shouting "come with your #50,000".

He went back to Naval base and came with a whole lot of naval guys went to the station and requested to see the corrupt policemen or else they will turn everywhere upside down. You need to see the way the Foolish policemen were shaking and begging .. U will not believe that they are same people who cocked and pointed guns to our head. My Naval friend and his guys collected the bike and took the men away.

I Can only Imagine the Kind of drilling they would have received at naval base!!!!

I wonder if these policemen are actually orientated before being unleashed on the streets or are just being deliberately dense for sake of the bribes they want to extort from road users.

Very useless people.

Illiterates behave better than most of them who are just thugs with uniform and a licensed gun.

The same Police will still make use of ordinary bike for different purposes, most especially for public transport.
Don't mind them
They need to address this because while in CMS yesterday, it was only policemen in auxiliary uniforms driving okada with passengers without any interruptions. Will this continue at the detriment of the non-police okada riders and private users of bikes?

This is totally unacceptable.

If a uniformed policeman can ride his bike to work without questions, why can't ordinary nigerians be allowed to ride their bikes to work too?

I paid heavily for higher fares to do sth on the island while my bike is being parked idly at home.

Until they stopped uniformed men from using bikes also, the ban is only against the civilians. And interestingly, many bikes would find their ways back on the way.

Nonsensical leaders everywhere.

And since they say the junior officers are given target to bring in returns for their seniors, they haven't said anything regarding the allegation.

Imagine what would have happened if people had just overlooked this and mind their business like they most times do, well as I’ve always say, police brutality will only end if we the people stand up for one another. They can’t kill us all

This is exactly the reason for the iyana Ipaja riot few days ago. The taskforce entered into streets to arrest bikes, they also went to a dealers shop to pack new bikes, so people prevented them and the next thing was serious gbege beyond control
Imagine going to dealers shop to pack new bikes. What kind of training do they give these goats in uniform for God's sake? Haba. Them no get sense at all.

Some policemen on Thursday were reportedly disgraced after they tried to seize a power bike belonging to a Lagosian while on his way to work.

According to the facebook user who also happened to be the man in question; Nmutaka Chikwendu stated that he was accosted by the officers of the Nigerian Police after they sighted him on his power bike while on motion , and before they could take any action, passers-by had already surrounded the officers, asking if the bike was a commercial motorcycle popularly referred to as 'Okada.'

The Policemen however, turned a deaf ear to the lamentations of the passersby and blatantly refused to release the power bike to the owner but things turned around when one of the passersby put a call through to the Police Command and it was finally released.

The Facebook user Nmutaka Chikwendu had to narrate his ordeal:

Dindinrin oponu afofungbemu. So because Lagos didn’t mention powerbike in their rulebook means powerbike is among the list ban. Ani ode ni e. Even in a well developed country/city the use of powerbike is accepted not being kitted is another topic. The fact that power bike isn’t in the listed in the rule book doesn’t mean powerbike owners can’t ride it. so you’re the highest order of illiterate the last of your kind

You would have acted more stvpid than the police if you happen to be the police.

Learn to relax before you read. My argument from the on start has nothing to do with his powerbike. It was already captured as part of the exemption as a motorbike. They were however required to be fully kitted. I gave you a reference should in case of a dispute yet you still come to this forum to rant trash.
You clearly have problem with comprehension prob as a result of your poor education.
