I thought they would be many in the protest. Very few people. Abeg let the ban continue. We will have sense willy nilly

I passed their gathering point at silverbird Galleria this morning and was surprised by the low numbers and the absence of any low income people amongst them. In fact it seemed to be mere photo opportunity for the benefit of any bored photo journalists.

You dey go far, UAE is an excellent example as well. But let them allow Opay and regulate until the road networks improve. It worked in Owerri because Udenwa, Rochas opened up New Owerri and created so many link roads that crippled anything holdup in that city.
I agreed with you, but looking at it from a business angle don't you thing the government would be giving a entity or two all the profit and forcing people into a system?

I don't think all of them want to be part of opay or gokada.

Okada was not banned on streets but on some major highways and bridges.

It is completely banned in like 6 local governments so please kindly learn to pass your message and communicate in a civil, responsible and mannered way next time

Your Bishop needs to walk his talk about Jesus son of Mary, love for common man. I believe Jesus would have protested along side the commoners not keep silent like your Daddy aka Bishop.

Nice one.
Let the government know that popular sovereignty belongs to the people. Why should they make policies that are against the people that voted them in?

Sovereignity belongs to the people but the people cannot micro managed the government. The people gave the government a four year mandate which they can rescind at the next election. In between they can peacefully protest but they cannot run the government from the sidelines. The policies you claim are against the people are also favoured and supported by others.

The dwellers of Lagos will appreciate this courageous decision by the state government later, it's for their own good even security wise.

In a sane country, this is allowed to happen. Peacefully and responsibly, then actions can be taken to help the masses you govern.
Those write-ups on their placards are actually the true reflection of their feelings and experiences for this okada ban.

True!!!...

There has always been a subtle and sublime move to push the poor out of Lagos into other neighboring states... From Ikoyi, Lekki, to the mainlands towards the outskirts.

Soon Ajegunle, Mushin, etc, will be given the full treatment and overhaul...

The drive to attain a mega city or state status is on... Sadly, it will come at a huge cost!!!

Re: Okada, Keke Ban: Occupy Lagos Protest This Morning In Pictures by kokomilala(m): 12:44pm On Feb 08, 2020
The protest is good.
Mass actions allow people to express their displeasure over certain government policies. But how mass is this action, this protest?
I'm in support of the ban because Lagos had been reduced to a filthy glory.Every Taiwo, Emeka and Gafaru now finds Lagos as a place where they can express even their most antediluvian consumer vacuity.Eko gba gba kugba!
But the government holds the ace here. There's a legislation that impels the government to act.I only want the government to provide, not just palliatives, but a comprehensive transport policy that will deliver mass transportation for the about 2 million commuters that ply Lagos roads everyday. An integrated railway system, cutting across Lagos' high ways, an integrated taxiing system for the feeder roads and a effective and safe waterways transport module. If all these are put in place ,okadas and kekes and those hideous and unsafe yellow buses will end up at junk yards.
