Why must it be this few? Where are the rest this is why our government we never take us serious if it those developed countries the street would have been filled up by now... This our I don't care attitude is what is killing this country

Actually it may be more than the poster claims. Like how they showed a road I know very well to be a go slow road as traffic free - under bridge computer village.

They probably took the picture on a Sunday. Airport road that's a traffic magnet or even ikeja-maryland road was conspicuously absent.

They should be protesting against the poor state of the Lagos roads and bus shelters and the failure to complete mass transit systems and lack of buses.

I passed their gathering point at silverbird Galleria this morning and was surprised by the low numbers and the absence of any low income people amongst them. In fact it seemed to be mere photo opportunity for the benefit of any bored photo journalists.

"low income people"... "photo opportunity"

kaiii, you've got bad mouth!

There's something called 'Cadge' in project initiation which is a form of sampling. Not just doing anything everywhere at once so you can improve on the delimits that may erupt. Its better to implement any people-oriented policy in adhoc method. Just my piece of advice.

Anyways please consult us for your construction service needs.

Foolish protest, didn't they listen to the reasons for the ban, and it's not in all areas, this is regulation.

Nice one.
Let the government know that popular sovereignty belongs to the people. Why should they make policies that are against the people that voted them in?

Popular sovereignty belongs to how many people? 200 out of 11 million?

Perhaps I should have put it in highlights or asterisks...

I know exactly what a mega city means...

The real question is... Do the present and past governors know what it means??! Not just Lagos, but across the nation.

Most of them believe a mega city should be a city "devoid of the poor or struggling"!!!.. This is why a governor will up and pull down structures or institutions that keep the average citizens employed, without first providing an alternative.

Actually they do know what a mega city means.

A mega city simply means a city with a population above 10 million people.

This whole talk of "Lagos Mega City" began because an international agency stated (at the end of the 1990s or beginning of the 2000s) that Lagos will be one of the world's 5 biggest cities by 2100.

Due to this projection and the fact that they will need to improve infrastructure in order to meet the demands of such a large population, President Olusegun Obasanjo, along with Governors Bola Tinubu and Gbenga Daniel launched the Lagos-Ogun Mega City Project. The headquarters of the commission was on Queens Drive in Ikoyi. The project was meant to include the construction of a railway system that would run through Lagos and Ogun and there were several other projects attached to it.

Bola Tinubu and Olusegun Obasanjo left office. There was a bit of friction between Governor Fashola and Governor Daniel and reporters asked Fashola if the Lagos-Ogun Mega City Project was dead. Fashola's response was this:

He said that the mega city was not a project, but rather a status that was conferred on Lagos by the size of its population. He said that this large population brings challenges and it means that the government must find a means to provide healthcare for this large population (more and better equipped hospitals), it must find a way to move this large population (more means of transportation, like railways, ferries, etc.), it must be able to provide security for this large population (more policemen and police stations), etc.

However, many people have since assumed that the term mega city means, "the best city", it does not.
