this scripture you just quoted is prophecy quoted from a written document of a script prophesying what will happen shortly before Christ(Jesus himself) was to be crucified.
Whenever you come across a scripture in the bible that begins with the word "FOR" (Example: For then shall be great tribu..), it is an indication that the scripture is a prophecy and it is quoted directly from a script written in the past.
So, Jesus quoted that scripture from a script containing prophecies of Daniel.

I recently read Matt 24...and for the first time, the “one will be taken and the other left” is an ambiguous statement assumed to be the event of rapture. Innthat entire context of Matt 24, Jesus was explaining tribulations in that portion, he even stressed that it won’t be funny for pregnant women becos it will be a period of panic...that was when “one will be taken and the other left” was mentioned... it seemed a little bit like an abduction of people like kidnapping. for example like bokoharam have been doing....

Now, The second scripture close to the doctrine of rapture ive seen is in first Thessalonians chapter 4: where Paul spoke about the dead will rise first and we that are remaining will be caught up with him in the air...but he was very clear about this in verse 16 that the lord himself will be descending....and rapture doctrines doesn’t saying Jesus will be coming at that time...Jesus is coming back just once not twice right? So that means what Paul was describing 1thes4 is the final/second coming to establish his kingdom, defeat the Antichrist and so on...it couldn’t have been rapture he was describing.

the choosen one it is talking about were the disciples of Jesus. They went through hell following Christ walking through the wilderness from their cities to Jerusalem where Jesus was to be crucified.
They walked through the wilderness(,desert without food and water) and that is the great tribulation Christ was talking about.

The great tribulation is an event that as not been experienced from the beginning of the world to this time of God's grace & mercy, (Matthew 24:21). it's a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of wastness and desolation, a time of trouble. It's a time when unbelievers prayer will not be answered by God, (Matthew 25: 1-13; Luke 13: 25-27). The great tribulation will take off after the rapture of the Saints of God and will last for seven years, it will end at the second coming of Jesus Christ when he will alights at the mount olives, (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; Zechariah 14:4; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; revelation 19:11-16; 20:4,5).
