I was going through the travel session of nairaland and i found out there is no thread for travelers or tourists(at least none that i know, if you know one please drop link) where we can share our tour experiences or exchange ideas of destinations or fun things to do in some cities.

I am a real travel lover and travel is my new hobby. i wish to share my experiences with like minds, learn about new destinations and even the economic importance of being a tourist. so if you are a tourist, you love tourism or just love talking/hearing about tourism LETS MEET HERE,

I made my first major trip out of Nigeria in august 2017(i had been to Cotonou and Ghana on some occasions before then) and since then i have been to 9 countries(France, Italy,Turkey,Poland...) already(all thanks to my schengen visa), i plan to visit more countries this year starting next week with Norway, Hungary and Austria....then later in the summer,Russia (world cup), USA and more European countries.

please drop your experiences/advice/suggestions/questions/inquires lets make tourism fun.

I have dropped few pictures from previous trips, i will also drop more pictures next week from my hungary/Austria trip. please feel free to do same.

LETS HAVE SOME TOURIST FUN.

Please dont leave without saying something

Hi.
I'm a frequent traveller but I'm always so scared of traveling to countries whose official language isn't English, so I travel to English speaking countries only. This has limited me a lot. There are so many countries I'll like to visit especially in Northern Europe and Asia but I'm scared because of the language barrier. I just can't picture myself in an environment where I can't understand a word people are saying.

Please, can you give tips on how to overcome the language barrier and survive and enjoy oneself in a country where I can't speak the dominant language

Sorry for late response, your post made me laugh , honestly it’s not that bad. The fact that English isn’t their official language doesn’t mean they don’t understand or speak English language.

The only countries where English has really been a barrier is russia And some Eastern European countries like Latvia , Estonia and Belarus

The rest of Europe like Northern Europe and Western Europe you will almost think you’re in an English speaking country

So please explore!!

Traveling is life. I’ve been to 8 countries as I am currently touring Seychelles right now. I’m planning Europe next year. Uchboggy you should create a travel WhatsApp group or something.

Yeah I entered the boat tour. I paid 240 dollars for me and my girl. It’s super fun and we did snorkeling plus other amazing stuff. I love traveling, since travel influencing is now a thing, I would like to make money while traveling.

Your best bet is to start a YouTube channel where you vlog your travels.
However, you have to be consistent to gain subscribers, views and consequently earn money from YouTube.

True but that will require numerous amount of travel and you know it doesn’t come cheap lol. I still have old videos and pictures of my previous trips. Maybe I can start by uploading that. I will give it a thought.

the snorkeling part was scary because I watch too much Nat geo wild, hahaha, I kept imagining sharks and whales coming around . The high point of that cruise was when we went for lunch at on turtle island.

well said , it takes a lot of content and consistency to pull this, I personally tried but couldn’t pull it off

I was really tired before getting to the turtle island, we didn’t had lunch there, we had lunch at the boat and the high point for me was entering that mini-submarine to watch the fishes at the sea. It’s amazing. The snorkeling was nice and scary at the same time. Seychelles is beautiful.

Just seeing this thread.
Op, it seems you're a frequent traveller?
That's very good.

What's life without exploring other countries?
It's therapeutic!

Anyway, so far, I've visited these countries: Netherlands, lived in UK for 8 years, Germany, South Cyprus, Turkey, Singapore, Australia and U.S.A.

Next year, Norway is the next country to conquer.
Not just visiting, but moving over for greener pastures.

You're welcome to the thread.
I fully agree...exploring is indeed therapeutic to the mind!
Travelling is the best form of education one can get about a place, the people, their mentality, culture, climate, standard of living, etc. The actual experience is always better than reading a thousand magazines about a place.

So far I've done 20 countries. Hoping to visit Prague, Czech Republic and Berlin, Germany (been to Hamburg already) next Easter holidays if I have time.
Then go to Canada in the summer.

If you need any info about moving to Norway, feel free to ask me here (no PMs) or visit the Norway thread to get probably all the info you need.

I think options A and B will be ideal.
Go with some cash, and also use your card.
