The Federal Government has promised to give N36 million to any Nigerian scientist that could come up with vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus disease.

The Minister of Science and Technology , Dr Ogbonnaya Onu made the promise in Abuja on Thursday at a Sent-off Ceremony for one of the ministry’s Directors, Engr A Oyefeso who was retiring from civil service.

Onu said Nigeria needed to think ahead of others in order to keep the disease at bay.

He said the government would be giving more financial support to Nigerian scientists to help them come up with cure and solutions to some of the diseases and problems ravaging the country.

“We are promising any Nigerian scientist who can discover vaccine to prevent Coronavirus N36million.

“We have a lot of herbs in the country, and who knows the cure for the disease could be in our forests.

“We are challenging our scientists to come up with cure for the disease and the country will honour them appropriately.”

That's misplaced priority. First of all, how will they test the efficacy of their discoveries? And how will they know it works unless the have an infected patients or the sample of the virus to test it with? How will they get the virus sample to test? You will end of having people who work for their selfish interest thereby working against the interests of the general public.

This is an unworkable solution.

Why not call for the assembly of the best scientist and biochemist in Nigeria, give them a good lap, feed them, provide 24 hrs electricity with the best electronic gadgets and laboratory equipments and have them work together towards having a solution to the virus?

Common, who advises these people self? They need better advisers.

If we were to go by past experiences with the federal government , its a No no from me .
The last time they promised to pay Whistleblowers, they refused to pay the guy that informed EFCC about money hidden in 1004 estate and if at all they paid him eventually we knew how long they dragged the matter.

Meanwhile, a scientist was interviewed recently on CNN about their progress in making a vaccine and he said, it would probably take them 6 months to develop one!

First, the Health Minister was running his odoriferous mouth some weeks ago that Nigeria Can Handle Coronavirus.

Second, they dismissed the rumoured cases of Coronavirus at Alimosho.

Now, they're subtly begging you with 36Million Naira to come up with a vaccine.

I am not in anyway against Global Depopulation as long as those pushing for it are also included in the exercise.

Do not get caught unawares.

You have a problem with paying your workers 30k a month.

You have a problem fulfilling your promises of securing the lives of Nigerians.

Now this?

We should be grateful this virus is yet to enter this country, and it won't, hopefully.

No right thinking Nigerian genius will think of your offer. There are so many countries that regard its potential. Nigeria is not one of them, rather its the reverse. This government has so much skill in neglecting the gifts in the country.

So keep your promises. The solution will come for the virus. Even if it's from a Nigerian, Nigeria won't take credit for it. As a government, you don't even believe your people have anything to offer you except their votes on election days.
