U are a victim of danger of a single story. Come to Kano or kaduna and enjoy bliss of life. Night life especially in Kaduna is far more safer and enjoyable than many States in the south.
A child who has not goes to another farm will say his father's farm is the biggest.

God bless you for this.
The truth is, the North is just suffering from media propaganda. Which is been propagate by PDP and IPOB terrorist. The number of people killed by kidnappers and Armed robbers in Kaduna for the past two months, is not up to the numbers of those that died through the same crimes in Abba within two days.

People are killed like flies in the EAst.

Please Aba is English/pidgin speaking city OK

Guess you are referring to a different Aba. No city in the SE is English/pidgin speaking city. Yes they understand these language, but dont speak it as a daily language.
Same as SW cities and north. Only cities in the SS besides Uyo qualify for English/pidgin english speaking.

With the daily murders always in the news or is it fowls and goats Boko haram and Iswap are killing? Why have people stopped traveling by road to Kaduna from Abuja?
Kaduna Abuja road is not safe thats the sad reality! But most of the killings bros occurs in the villages not Cities. Besides there's no cult or Agberos here. You can confidently tell a keke guy that you dont know anywhere and he will gladly take you whereever you want to go, that cant happen in the south. Still one needs to be careful of his dressing down south but here you can wear red and black nobody go send you sef.

Aba is the safest city OK, you only have to mind your business just as it's in other cities

People from PH to Aba to enter bus.... chisos chisos, nothing I no go see... lie small small naaa...

OP if you can live in the north without wahala, then you can as well in the south. I know as a northerner you may be looked at as an enemy especially in Aba or any other SE city or state, but PH is too cosmopolitan for that.
Language will never be a barrier for you in PH as long as you can speak pidgin english or correct english. In Aba at first they'll use Ibo to communicate with you, but once they know that you dont understand they'll switch(sometimes they will still use Ibo unknowingly), however they've already marked you as an outsider.
For cities that you've never been to, I'll say stay close to your own(other northerners) and avoid unnecessary night movement. PH and Aba are safe especially during the day.

It's your country so feel free to explore, but be careful. Dont listen to anyone telling you onitsha. How can you be going to Aba and be lodging in faraway onitsha?
The guy is exploring his country and dont wanna move from one ibo town to another Ibo town.
oga I was born bred and brought up in aba and I have lived 2 years in ph (rumodara behind Anglican)

Ph is a finer city but aba is more commercial, incase you don't know let me help your knowledge, any bus that goes anywhere from Ph can be found in aba but not everywhere bus will go from aba can be found in ph

Make your research

lol i have been living in the NE my whole life and i never came across BH. Even though there was bomb blast and killings but most times the attacks occurs in faraway local Govenments. No Cultist or Agberos here

Oga there is bokoharam in the north.....period.
They have not attacked your area doesn't mean they won't when they finish with those places they are now.

I wonder how middle belt now becomes north central..if there's something like north central then they should be South or west Central,...when a middle belter move to the south he/she are termed onye Hausa....when they also move to the north, they now become iyamiri...or Igbo....then you don't need a prophet to tell you people from middle belt are different and unique... that's why the so-called Fulani and Hausa are trying hard to see the conquer them
jimyjames:
Hmm

Just imagine a guy from the north plateau state where people are killed everyday is talking about security in the south east where there are check points everywhere

You are not serious

Well.... Be careful

You will be tagged onye ugwu!!

Be careful... Be very very careful...

Aba is the capital of Biafrans...

The biafra proponents especially masobs are very deadly especially towards Northerners...

They don't care weather you are from Jos,Nasarawa or Niger... What they know is that onye ugwu bu onye ugwu... (a northerner is a northerner) and they see you as an enemy

I have been to Aba,Onitsha, Enugu and Ebonyi...

Ebonyi and Aba na danger for Northerners...

Those Niger migrants hustling over there dey hear ram hot cos they see them as Hausafulani

Don't think that you coming from Jos will save you... You are a brother to yakubu Gowon Just have that in mind

Lastly when Making call in public don't use Hausa to speak with any of your friends... They might tag you a Bokoharam informant and you're likely to be lynched or ipob among them will tag you Hausafulani spy
Sani is this how you point with a left hand the land that nutured your infancy. How would you talk bad about Onitsha a place you and you siblings and parents lived. Did the east kill you people when you were there? You must be an embarrassment to your Igbo friends who call you nwanne.

Sani aka Arewa, Chino, Yyeske, Meleszenawi, Chinolisation, Abia1stson, OkpalaAnambra. Why would you keep denigrating the land that moulded you to the man you’re today? You must be a disappointment to Baba Haruna your father?Sani why?

More people and travellers live in PH. Ph is a bigger city with more connections to anywhere in the world not just Nigeria. PH has more connections by road, air and sea than Aba. More transport companies operate in PH than Aba. Yes Aba is commercial, but not on the level of ph when it comes to transportation. Unless you are talking about transportation to villages grin in Abia state.

People only go to Aba from PH to buy cheap goods, not to travel. Even the goods it's not because they cant get it in PH, but because it's way cheaper in Aba.

That's to tell you the level of tribalistic they are, the worst part is that they can never buy or build any house in the East no matter how long they stayed there....that's number one teaching or orientation for them in their mosques....one Nigeria indeed

Hello Nairalanders, I will be traveling to the Southern part of the Country for the first time in my life. I was born and raised in the North Central, Plateau state to be precise.

I will be traveling to Aba to buy some goods for a Client, initially I was planning to move to Port-Harcourt, then from there enter Aba and Onitsha after I'm done with shopping I will move back to Port-Harcourt and take a Bus back home.

Now the issue here is I have never travelled to the South, a lot of people here are telling me that there's no security, even lodging is not safe because EFCC might raid the lodge anytime. And the Streets are also not safe.

Pls Nairalanders in port and Aba should recommend a good and safe area for me. I was told keke and bus drivers don't usually speak English na so so language dem dey speak.

Help a brother pls.
honest advise, by someone who has been to both onitsha, Aba and PH. I don't see a reason why you should go alone on this your journey.. Honestly if you don't like aftertale wahala, why not go with a trader that always ply aba/onitsha that way you get inducted into how things work down here...

At one time or the other a friend have had to, goto onitsha /Aba, for their first time they always have someone experienced escort them. For technical know-how /security / communication / understanding....

If you are the very adventurous type you honestly have no problems, especially if you are streetsmart... Don't speak hausa, (for courteous sake, not because they will do anything to you)...

Don't try to explore the night life, since it's your first time.. Don't act timid too, afterall na goods you come buy with your money... I think you will be ok,

Avoid night movement? Where is the groove without night groove,if one cannot take a stroll at night then there's no life in that state.

In aba bus and Keke drivers don't speak english but if you speak english they'll understand, in pH pigin is the main language I mean broken English, when you're in pH don't go to dioub, abuloma and the dline at night.you can get a very nice hotel in old or new GRA,avoid night movement and you will enjoy your stay,

I'm very glad you're actually going to embark on this journey. By the end of your trip your orientation will change greatly.

My advice for you is simple: Disregard most advice you'll get here. Just keep your money safely and move around freely. Avoid crowded or lonely places at night. Safe journey!

Kai Nigerians. Always quite to HYPE their Culture.

Op. Even though I suspect the OP was trying to wound up our guys from Southside, I'll still give you some advice.

Be careful and vigilant. Avoid small talk and most importantly, whenever you find yourself in any Town down south, whether West, East and South. Don't move unnecessarily when it's Night. Unless you're a bit familiar with the territory.

Arm rubbers, area boys, cultists, Agberos and Even SARS are a nuisance to almost any nook and cranny in the South. You have to know your environ before you can enjoy moving more freely.

Communication is no problem here in the South. Every one speaks Pidgin at least.

For people with objective mind, if you've never been to the North, Don't do yourself a disservice by thinking Boko Haram and herdsmen are walking the streets freely.

For the majority of state in the North, and especially those in the Northwest and Central, their definition of security ACTUALLY includes walking the streets morning and night without any harassment.

In the North, the things we fear at night in the South is not a social vice there.

Between the north and east... Na which people dey display hatred pass?? Tell yourself the basic truth...Why is tribalism your lifestyle?? Why??

I don't hate the Igbos... My problem with you people is that why don't you hold your selfish leaders accountable for their actions? Why do you prefer blaming northerners??

I would advice you to lodge in a good hotel, I mean normal standard one tht somebody there can direct you or even help you in getting things.. During my IT days in an hotel last year, I helped a lodgers to get something in the market without fraud
