Average squad at best. Nothing spectacular. No goal keeper.

Senegal has Mane, Egypt has Sallah, Algeria has Mahrez.

Which world class player does the team have?

Where are all these infants crawling from.
So much for a Mane and Salah that couldn't get their countries out of the group stage in WCQ

I like this squad apart from shehu abdulahi and musa

Would have like nwakaeme to be there,he deserves to be there ahead of musa, nobody should come and sing about past glory in my ears here but i am happy with dessers first call up

So no samuel kalu, i am happy about this also because all players need to merit their call up, or are my eyes deceiving me because we know rohr loves kalu
I think kalu should be in that team. He is literally the best player at his wing presently in that eagle's squad

Guys, let us call a spade a spade. Dennis is a selfish player. Honestly, would you have the same stance in arguement if he did the same thing he did yesterday in a Super Eagles match? I believe your assertion is due to the fact that you don't have any stake on the performance of his current club.
Don't mind them. How many times have we seen the same scenario play out in a super eagles match? Games where we would have gotten a draw or a win if not for mumu glory hunting.
This is what we mean by players having good decision making... It's clear Dennis needs to work on his.

Then you are what we call double standard

You have no problem with 2 players that are playing in a nonsense league

But you have problem with someone doing well in the belgian league ? Yes he has not been that good in the eagles, but as far as he is doing well at his club rohr might keep on calling him

Okay, let's look at it like this, which of those attackers is better than kalu at that right wing? He is our best choice, get him in the team. I remember that giroud does not play for club but he tops France list

Story, so because giroud is in france team means kalu should be in eagles list, maybe they should have dropped an inform moses simon

Is kalu even better than ejuke this season who is not even close to being on the list?

Kalu have been playing nonsense this season and doesn't deserve to be in the squad

Premise of the argument >> "The Nigerian squad is scary"

My argument >>
1. The Nigerian squad is average at best. All the players the dude listed above play at mid level to back water teams. We have no single player in a top team. We have no single world class player. We have no goal keeper.

2. In the history, all AFCON and world cup semi-finalists all had an outstanding player that carried the team through.

Two brief examples;

In 2012, Zambia (the least prestigious team to win a recent AFCON) won because of the genius of goal keeper Mweene who saved countless penalties and stopped shots.

Nigeria in 2019 could not progress beyond the semi finals because they had no goal keeper and no outstanding /world class player. Mahrez carried Algeria through

3. Analysing the Nigerian team:

The defenders play for mid to low level teams. They choked against Madagascar. Ekong scored an own goal against Algeria and recently against Lesotho?

Ndidi is good at tackles but is limited when it comes to play making. The attacking mid fielders listed are either under - performing or playing for back water clubs e.g Iwobi, Aribo, Eze

The attack is quite good. However against top teams with top defenders they get found out.

Conclusion:

1. I do not undermine our team. We have very good prospects for the near future.

2. But at the moment, contrary to what the poster would have us think (by listing the squad and tagging them scary), we are still but a very average team.

3. To become world beaters and continent shakers our players need to go up one more gear and play for top teams. We need an average of 2 to 3 world class players. Even one world class player will do.

4. Ndidi is not a world class players (If you want to argue be ready to come at me with stats. Trust me I have sufficient stats to prove)
At best Ndidi is above average.

5. The team needs an average projected period of 3 or 5 more years to become 'scary'.

6. Apologies if I deflated anyone's ego or excitement at the team. I simply stated the fact.

Did you just mention Simon ffs? Simon is terrible, forget his club form. This is exactly what I am saying, country form is different from club. Check out that onachu to get my point better.

I stand on the fact that kalu is our best right winger... Maybe if Simon is deployed somewhere else on the pitch, he might perform.

However, he can't bench kalu on that right side, it's just not possible.

One of your best players in the afcon is terrible

Make una dey live on past glory, no wonder many of una want local coach to take over super eagles so that e go dey call mediocre players

Kalu is your best winger, then he should get back to his old form and start playing for his club, i dont think i will even be against you

Even Nwakaeme wey dey do well una no go see am or even ejuke , na past glory una like , when nacho drop form he was dropped so kalu should be dropped and he should work hard to be in the team, he is no messi or cr7 abeg

I didn't say Dennis. I am talking about selfishness/unnecessary glory hunting that you guys are praising costing us in WC.
WE would've drawn against Argentina in 2010 WC if Obasi/Odenwingie(can't remember which one) simply squared the damn ball. That thing pisses me off till today.
Thierry Henry despite winning how many golden boot mostly got the balance between passing and going for goal throughout his time at Arsenal.
