Of late I have been noticing some unusual deductions in my Wema Alat Account. Wema
Bank deduct 50 Naira for every transfer into the account. Is this a new trend or what?

Yesterday, money was transferred into my account 3 times and wema removed 150 naira

Today, this morning. I transferred money from my Access Bank account to my Wema Alat account. Access Bank debited their normal interbank transfer charges and then Wema Alat also debited my account for receiving the money.

Is this normal? Do banks now charge for receiving money into your account? Or is it just Wema Alat?

I contacted the bank, this is what they said:

Please be informed that the new financial act of 2020 states that you incure a N50 stamp duty charge on every transaction of 10,000 and above.

How true is this?

First bank has for long been deducting #50 (stamp duty) for any money paid into my current account. But I noticed that of recent they have restricted it to only #10,000 and above

The bank charges are getting way too much. I just did another transfer to another bank and I discovered I was debited for interbank transfer charge( which is normal) and a N50 stamp duty charge, and then a Vat charge. For crying out loud, it's a savings account.
