Hello Bligs! Please I'm in between options, despite my research I lack concrete information to decide (I've applied to both an Australian and Uk uni for masters).
Please can you expatiate on how one can attain a PR via study route, from Australia? Agents in Nigeria keep saying, when you get to Australia, you will meet your peers and learn how to get PR. 2 years PGWP is the only thing that sounds sure.

A student I'm speaking with in Australia, says even if your course is under the skilled list, there is just a slim chance that you will get a PR. Same student went further to say that most persons are being asked to leave the country after studies, that Australia is not as it used to be.... I read a couple of stories on NL where people are seeming to say that what they thought they knew about the PR via study route is not what they are experiencing in Australia.

Please and please, educate me on why you're suggesting the study route, is it really a better option? My alternative move is to go for the UK, and depending on the opportunities that come with the new 2yrs PGWP, I can still decide to move to Australia or Canada via Skilled immigration or EE.

Please other guru's in the house, also throw more pointers for me, from your experience. I believe in the multitude of counsel....

In as much as studying doesn't guarantee a PR, it gives you an edge because the new 491 visa favours those onshore but the problems most students are having are lack of information and ability to utilize their 2years post study work visa judiciously until it runs out.

@sumji, as Bligs mentioned, 491 is the new gold, although it has it benefits which includes Medicare, it's still not PR but pathway to PR.
This means you'll do
Masters 2 years
PGWV 2 years
491 visa 3 years before you can apply for PR
PR - indefinite.

You may be lucky to get 491 even before your 2 years PGW visa expires.

One is looking at 5-7years before PR... Okay. This gives my research focus, cause now I know what to look out for. Thanks!

Can you kindly throw more light on what increases people's "luck" in getting the 491 visa before the 2yrs PGWV expires? It's very critical..

880 is the normal processing fee which takes 12 weeks or more. 880+600 is for priority processing which takes about two or three weeks if your documents are intact. I don't know about the 112, I'm guessing that's for onshore applicants.
