Courts in Cross River Shut Down Over Non-Confirmation Of Chief Judge by References: 1:34pm On Mar 02, 2020
All the courts including High courts, magistrate courts, and others have been shut down in Cross River State over non-confirmation of Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme.

Already, all the lawyers in the state have embarked on peaceful demonstration marching from the High court at Mary Slessor to the House of Assembly protesting the non-confirmation of the CJ.

Judiciary workers also have embarked on a similar protest locking all offices against people that have cases in various courts in the state.

Judiciary committee in the House of Assembly had slated today, Monday for the confirmation of the CJ after postponing it from Friday.

Sadly, none of legislatures was in the House but a source alleged that the lawmakers were holding clandestine meeting at an undisclosed venue.

Interesting, security operatives have taken over the premises preventing the protesters and some lawyers from coming into the House.

At the time of filing this report, nobody knows whether the CJ will be confirmed today or not. Already, the tenure of the acting CJ expires today, Monday, March 2nd.

What do u expect when a whole Nation is quarantined by some few selfish and brainless individuals.

She is not his choice candidate.

Each CRHA member is alleged to have collected 500k from the Gov to deny her confirmation.

Wetin concern ayade and buhari? I thought that the assembly has started screening the acting state cjn? Anyway, the truth is that the woman is from akwa ibom though married to a cross river man and because of her origin, there are attempts to frustrate her just like it was done in kebbi state

The Committee had concluded screening...then on Friday, should have submitted the report but ironically, it was shelved.
Today, they are no where to be found.

Wetin concern buhari with Ayade means what?
As if you don't know Garba is the "favoured" one. He will still fail sha. Friday, Ag. PCA will be Dongban....its better Agbo goes there than Garba.

So because Ikpeme is not from CRS, and yet we all accuse the North of marginalisation. The other day, TA threw out all non-Abians from the Civil Service. Ikpeme whose father even retired as a Permanent Secretary in CRS, all her schooling were in CRS yet....na waoh.

The argument against her person is that she is from Akwa Ibom state even though she is married to a Cross Riverian and her mom is a Cross Riverian. She has worked all her life in Cross River and paid taxes.

Ethno-religious sentiment is the bane of our present day society...

No doubt, the Governor is complicit in the obvious delay in confirming her.

Imagine, and her husband is from C/Rivers. Her dad was a Perm Sec, also in that same C/Rivers.

He wants to swear in Maurice Eneji, which won't work.

No govt anywhere in the world allows the independence of the three arms of government to stand... Somehow somewhere they are always influenced as far as the executive is in charge of ordering for salary and other remuneration.

Even in USA,in whom we use as reference, u saw what happened in the impeachment process.

Party politics contributed majorly in killing independence of these arms of government.
