Mayor555:
If I talk this morning, I'll step and destroy toes... See them using the 'nothing in life comes easy' card anyhow...

So it's only you guys that know how to do it!

One even said 'Chinese come to Nigeria and make a killing', like like seriously? Can you ever be more ignorant??

Why didn't you ask why everyone wants to leave Nigeria for greener pastures? Why do people celebrate and do big Thanksgiving when their visas come through??

Kai, make I no talk, I respect some of you well, dru23 included, but your reasonings beat me!

Your environment has shapened your orientation, nothing can make you understand an ordinary Nigerian.

Every parents primary objective in Nigeria is to give their children education to the highest ladder possible according to their capacity.

Kai... These people, make I no talk..

My brother if I tell you ....I understand ordinary Nigerians very well too well ,from personal stories to stories from others.. Let me tell you my own story ....story story story story o....

I started investing in Nigerian in the early 2000.. This is when the Lagos government was developing Ajar, lekki and sand filling the area. So I decided to invest in Tipper business and bought about 7 Mack dump truck within a period of 2 years. Mack trucks were cheaper during those times. It cost about 550k naira to clear a 20ft ton dump truck at that time ,now is about close to 1 million .

So I called my childhood friend and I explain to him what I wanted to do . So we set up a company and I made him a business partner. I gave him 40% of the company and I kept 60% of it . Long story short that business was a disaster, my friend could not manage the business, he complain that he needed a car to monitor the drivers. I bought him a car tokunbo car ,but stories kept coming, he couldnt account for the money , I went through hell during those period, because I collected loan for those trucks ....
It got to a point that I had to get my family involve, for me to collect my leftover trucks. When my family found out I was mocked at and made fun at. I was told that you don't leave a business with Nigerians and expect things to go well. This your friends has never struggle for money before, how do you want expect a person that has never made a million naira before to handle that type of money . And at the time those trucks were delivering about 50k naira a day . Each truck delivering 50k naira a day times 7 ,you do the math..

So my family now got involve, before that I had to pay for a lawyer and he was arrested ..He slept in Jail for three days .. Than is older brother had to bail him out and sign an undertaken to resolve the issues. So when both family sat down to discuss the situation.. They ask him where are the trucks ? He said he sold them all and spend the money etc .. So the family said they will settle for 1million naira to give me .. Which is nothing, that 1million naira took about 1 year plus for them to pay. It got to a point that they stop paying money and I arrange for him to get locked up again. So in order not to give their mother high blood pressure and avoid policemen embarrassing them at their homes again. The two older brothers finally paid their last installment.

Now a lot of you guys might say this. That the guy was new into the business and there are Challenges in starting a new business etc. But few things that I found out during those period .. I will not get into details, but I hire an investigator to monitor him .. Stories were getting to me that this guy got a girl pregnant and had two kids etc . Which he didn't tell me , when he was dating his baby mama he bought her things clothes and showered her with gifts etc. He was known around the area has a big boy . He was telling people that he owns the business etc . And I was told he will just enter bar and pay for drinks for everyone.. They said the boy was a big boy o .

The one thing that made me to take action before I hired someone to spy on him .. Facebook .... Out of boredom I starting looking at his Facebook page. I saw in posted up chilling in clubs drinking and enjoying himself but mean while, his friends were telling me that this guy spends money anyhow .. He was the talk of town and he was a big boy o .. He was still in his middle to late 20's during this period.....

After the whole situation I had to lick my wounds like a wounded lion. I had to figure out how to pay back my loans and deal with the embarrassment. Before it to police matter I beg him to return my trucks. He kept coming with excuses , I spoke to the older brothers that I don't want my family to know about this. But nobody took me seriously, because I was not in Nigeria.

I had to use my connects and spy to monitor him and get him arrested. When his family house got raided by five policemen. His older brother now knew that I meant business.. They were surprise how a guy that stays in the USA was able to pull this thing off .. It was a huge embarrassment for the family ..

And doing the arrest period ,I had a lawyer standby. And before any of his family could bail him out he had to write a statement about what happen, which he than admitted that he sold all my trucks.. They family couldnt do nothing.. The brothers had to stand for his bail ,before that my lawyer made sure that she knows the addresses of his brother and work place . This whole drama was like a made for tv drama.

Now till now the guys still stays with his mommy and he can't hold a job.. I was told by another source that he needs my help since am into the uber business. I told that source that I will think about and get back to him.

But as the saying goes ... " Fool me once shame on you , but fool twice shame on me ."

Conclusion: Mr. Mayor555 trust me I know how ordinary Nigerian behaves, I have experience and seen all those behaviors myself. And I have watched others go through worse.. @Mayo555 people like you will never understand people like me , but I don't expect you to.. But I clearly understand people like you .. You have never walked a mile in my shoes ...

Even the one that started this 35k earnings owes someone 100k.

This forum is for both drivers and owners, both need a price that will pay both parties, l drove in Nigeria to test the market in Lagos, N35000 is a fair price for rent, but maintenance must be the owners responsibility 100%.
Both riders and drivers ought to progress, in business.
Below is my UBER earning for London, Monday to Friday morning, still expect to make another £600, by Sunday evening , car rentals is£250 weekly and buy petrol of £120 and city of London congestion charge

Bro, 21k for a rookie like you is wonderful but don't go about hoping for that money every day. There are days, you'll toil from morning till dusk and not gross 5k. It happens.
Just take it as that and chin up.

Working on UBER platform for two months l never made less then 15k O, but then London experience dey!! Helped a lot.

Sir you're right with every of your point but this is not the subject.
You've been into the business for two years, good and congratulations to your advancement and progress but what would you do to that your beat renter who has been paying you for lets say 12months without any stories with good maintenance of your business and one day he say boss I'm taking 1 or 2 week off to rest and maybe pay attention to my health because I feel somehow so for some reason he either returns the car to you or parks it idle in his garage then travels. Would you say because it's business and you can't afford to loose a 1 week or 2 you then say to him, No! Before you return the car must have been given out to some one else? Or you would ask him not to go on his vacation?

But why should the drivers sickness be his business, once you sign a contract you know the score, l rent my car from a car rental, he will be stupefied if l give him such a nonsensical story, He has bills l also have bills, if you need a rest or holiday you pay upfront or as when due, that’s the way it’s done everywhere,
Be fair but firm,
If you don’t wanna be ruined, no sentiments in business o!!
Nobody is doing anyone favours,
YOU RENT TO EARN MONEY, I RENT OUT TO EARN MONEY.
Long story is unnecessary,

Its why its a beautiful world...we disagree to agree.

Was on my way back from the Niger Delta today with one of the popular public transport system with lots of years in the business. Guess what? The driver was sleeping seriously while on steering. I was at the front seat and was also very tired and dosing off as well because I couldn't bear it, I noticed the slightly zigzag and eractic movement so I'd to sit up and then engaged him in discussion... He said it him self he was sleeping!.

No imagine the risk this driver is putting his life and that of his passengers and other people at even including his company and their property.

Now, the last aircraft crash that happened, was it last or there about. There was lot of report it was due to inexperience by the pilot. All lies.

The truth is, most employers dont provide the enablung2 environment for their workers rather are just after their business and profit.

Most or even all of these public transport companies don't have rooms for their drivers to rest after a long trip not to talk of even a bathing room or a toilet or even self a HMO should they or their family members fall sick along the line of duty. Go to their park every night you'll see them sleeping inside their car/bus the once that the day was good for them spend the night in either their concubine's house or with a sex worker with few hours sleep in the night and the next morning they're on the road driving putting people's life and property at risk.

Can we boldly call a 20yrs old boy a grown up man in nigeria? @Dru23 that boy is still a child oh this is not United State of American where a child of 20 is regarded as a man oh... Over here in Nigeria we still have men in their 40s still living under their parents' roof they still chop and say "mama thank you ma". So that child is still a boy.
I won't allow my child of 20 take a driving job, it's high risk to him.

You need to see the way these children drive on the road. Esp these coro boys, doing 80kmph on a busy road. It is that not madness? The annoying one is they will never allow you enter their front but the way they will enter you enh!
Ive been in London for ages, was fending for myself since 20yrs you either work or sink.
As for those of them refusing to take adequate rest, that’s their own failing, and perhaps regulators of Transporters, UBER for example limits your driving to 10hrs, we are advised to take a rest of 6hrs, but l want to relocate bck to Niger na, so l go on Bolt to achieve my target of £225 everyday l am experienced, l know when to take a nap, but God forbid if man come get accident Nko,
Who dey at fault.
Drivers should know them selves and stop blaming the world for their own failings.

Yes those are the issues I face o ..But again I try to be reasonable with them .A few of them in the past think they are doing me a favor ...At the end of the day as a business man I have to weed out the bad ones before I hire them.. I have a tokunbo car sitting down for months now , and am just taking my sweet time before I hire anyone .....
Funny enough I had one driver that wanted a car. We arrange and set up time and date for interview.. The guy didnt show up or call .. So we call him the next day and ask him what happen? He said he had to go and hustle etc and he will come the next day.. The next day no call no show ... about three days later he hit me up on what's up so say he is ready.. I just deleted him from my whatapps and move on .... And pretty soon people like him will say there are no jobs out there. If you can't handle small job and folllow proper protocol, than how can you handle bigger jobs..

Just to give you an example , when I was in college I had that will work his tail off .. The job could be paying $15 dollars an hour ,he will take the job seriously and be the best at it .. He had amazing work ethic and from there he got a job with a big company traveling around the world... Some Nigerian youth are too lazy and feel entitled. This is why am very careful in helping people. And the married ones can be the worse for jobs, some of them can't afford to have one kid, but they will born three kids and they can hold down a job and take responsibility. And now if their wife leaves them and follow a responsible man ,they will say that women are evil etc.. Omo things have seen ,can't be unseen
My friend when you have lived abroad, and worked at all jobs, all this nonsense spewed by Nigerians won’t impress you, there are many European graduates from East European countries working here, doing what needs to be done to get by, l am not saying we are lazy, but some are just outright lying cheats and full of complaints.
You should see hit Oyinbo’s and Chinese people work,
A lot of East Europeans work in Nigerian restaurant, some can make Amala, can’t make our soup o, some even clean the house and nanny our children, graduates o.
When you have a job do your best, and God himself will raise you, and 4 God sake be proud with what you do
