That’s not a puff adder. It’s a Gaboon viper.

Pic 1 puff adder

Pic 2 Gaboon viper.

Ndek:

Not a puff Adder, it's a gaboon viper

There is no need for arguments.

Now let us observe the pictures below.

Pic 1 is a Garbon viper

Pics 2 is a Butterfly viper

Now, look on the white express middle line, with the shape after and before the rectangular white middle express and compare it with the one that bit the man.

There is another snake in Africa deadlier than Black mamba you know
The puff adder takes the crown of Africa's deadliest, not because of the potency of its venom but because of its frequent encounters with people leading to a high number of deaths. Besides, its short and fat, not able to run away like other snakes, so it just sits there hoping people don't notice. Most bites comes from people stepping on them. Its very similar in body to the gaboon viper

Look at the color pattern of the snake being held by that man bro, you will see it’s a Gaboon viper. Nevermind, lets all be careful out there or when using our toilet because one thing I have noticed is that Nigeria health care system don’t take snake bite issue seriously for that reason they hardly have anti-venom stocked in their hospital. Be it private or government hospital.

U need venom from a particular snake to be able to make an antisnake venom !!!

All the people quoting me on making anti venom shows how shallow minded you guys are.

So when snake bites someone, the person will wait till they extract venom to make anti venom snake?

This is the failure of our universities and research institutions. Overseas, most of venoms from different snake species had already been researched and produced and labelled.

Most times, it is to determine the particular species of snake that bite the person.

Please, you people should read up and watch more of what happens abroad before saying anything.

There are researcher dedicated to snake poisons and have produced anti snake poisons from a variety of snakes.

When a snake victim gets to hospital, he is first stabilised before determining the anti poison to use.

You don't have to extract it from that particular snake at that time as long as you know the species.

Same species of snakes carry the same poison content.

Oga stop typing nonsense up and down .
I know at least 3 people that were bitten by poisonous snake and they survived !
Anti venom are readily available in most hospitals .
Nigerians and fake news . Eh!
Spreading fake news with so much energy . Abah !
What do you stand to gain ?

You dey mind dem.

Some people are just too shallow minded and some idiots were even quoting me saying that anti venom would have to be produced from that snake. Imagine the reasoning.

Go online and see varieties of anti venom that have been produced from different snakes.

In Plateu and Benue states, where snake bites are high, govt do stuck anti snake venoms in some designated hospitals.

The rectangular white lines on the top of a butterfly viper are curved in on both ends, almost as if the top and bottom of the rectangle are V shaped.
The gaboon viper on the other hand has an almost perfect rectangle

Gaboon vipers are usually very tolerant snakes, even when handled, and rarely bite or hiss, unlike most vipers. However, bites by bad-tempered individuals do occur. That matchete cut angered the serpent real bad. The snake bite didn't kill him, his fellow humans did; They should have taken him to the hospital.

This is a lie
Even in south Africa u will die if they dont have the anti venom
Snake bites are dangerous anywhere in the world if the sample of the venom is not available to have the anti venom ready

Leave Nigeria out of it

In a Country with a good health system, it is unwise not to have the that exact snake venom because it is a familiar snake in that side since it has a local name already. Anti venoms are always specific to a particular locale based on the likely specie of snake or other Animal there

I'm sure if he went to a general hospital they wud have had the antidote cos that's a very common snake in the area. Most of these local physicians/herbal doctors are either fake or didn't learn the work well.

Bitten by a Viper one of the most venomous snakes on the planet and they took him to native doctor for herbal medicine, instead rushing him to hospital for anti venom.

Their ignorance killed the young man.

playing with neurotoxin.

That's why is good you guys should watch "Snakes in the City"
It's actually heamotoxin..cobras have neurotoxins..watch them man's hand and you will see that the blood vessels had already started to disintegrate...heamotoxins attack blood vessels while neurotoxins attack the nervous system..

A middle aged man, Chidiebere Christopher Nwoke has lost his life after a dangerous snake bit him during bush clearing in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The late Mr Nwoke is a native of Umueke Ekerifeze Umuajata Olokoro in Umuahia south local government area of Abia state.

ABN TV gathered that this development has put the people of the community in a state of mourning as the young man was said to be full of life and hard working.

Our correspondent gathered that late Nwoke had gone to farm alongside his younger brother when the tragic incident happened.
He said Nwoke unknowingly inflicted a machete cut on a dangerous viper snake known as “AJUALA”.

In an effort to gather the cleared bush with his hands, the snake bit him on his left hand which resulted to the swelling of the hand.

However, he was rushed to an anti poison native doctor who gave him some herbal drugs to stabilize him.

He later passed on and has since been deposited in the mortuary.
