When my uncle died. D total calculation is about #5million. So it's not easy to send remains to Nigeria. Even to bury d corpse I. US is another big money. The best is to give them d visa Sanchez01: |

densiks: bringing human remains is crazily stressful and fvcking expensive, the paper work na die... immigrations from there and here will stress u... 1. U must obtain a Waiver for Repatriation of Corpse from the Federal Ministry of Health of health service , Abuja only..... u will bribe tire 2. It’s like shipping a dog that a registered vet has to certify... for dead body asides all the shipping cost a registered funeral home will still bill you for a whole lot of Shitss....before authorizing the body for flight It’s cost around 12thousand dollars.....then they will now get to Nigeria and still place her in a morgure and start burial arrangement.... Compare that to family member of 3 at most that will get visa for 160$ and plane ticket for less than 800dollars each... 1 Like |

AFONJACOW:Trust me, the 10k is somewhat cheap. I chose not to do a quote of some other funeral expenses that would take the money into 15k +, plus no way in hell the family would go abroad and stay a month. It is unwise. They could do motels and not necessarily hotels where they'd get charged hundreds of Dollars per night. If they are burying her abroad, a day and that's it. Americans aren't big on parties like us, so the room to make any noise won't be available. A week and they're done. 2 Likes |

oloyede90:The visa option is no doubt cheaper. We spent N5m+ moving a family member who died way back. It was so annoying because he had instructed his wife and kids to return his body home, that he wasn't going to be forgotten in a strange land, a strange land he ran to for decades. 6 Likes |

Two things: they just want to go and bury their sister and they're seeking IMMIGRANTS visa? All they (the religious organisation) can do is PRAY? How about contacting the embassy etc? |

When the siblings are not there, the Catholic mission takes up the responsibility. For me, wey no get money to waste on the corpse, I wouldn't bother but for some people, it's a big deal. Let the Catholic missions do the burial and send the video to us in naija. Naija is doomed in all things. 1 Like |

BizBayo: There is something fishing here, hence the embassy is denying their visa. The Rev. Sister was a nun and have colleagues, they can write and give the power of attorney to anyone over in US to act on their behalf. It is not true that they must be in US for the burial to take place. Even in Nigeria where there are strong cultural and traditional practices and precedents, there are no rules cut in stone like this. Someone else can stand for a required attendee who could not make it in burial, marriages, etc in Nigeria talkless of the US where there are no traditions.... In Nigeria self, dem don do correct burial ceremony for empty coffee if the body could not be located or could not be brought home. The siblings want to use this opportunity to jappa, no one is going anywhere, we all voted for this change and next level, let’s all suffer it together. 1 Like |

This family really needs to go not just for the funeral but also take custody of everything the late sister had. If they send her corpse, then how will the family take possession of her properties? Grant them Visa already. |
Re: Burial Of Rev. Sister Angela Arhona Egbikuadje: US Embassy Denies Siblings Visa by linearity: 12:08pm On Mar 10, 2020 |
oloyede90: You are talking as if the US embassy cares which of the two options is cheaper for the family. If you even dare to do this cost analysis for them, they would prefer you bring the body home; one because you have told them that, there an alternative option that will require no visa; two the bulk of the money you will spend to bring the body home will be to US tax payers, which will help their economy. 1 Like |
