I don't know if you're helping to uphold my argument or you're arguing against it.

1. We're speaking about the Fulani-Hausa relationship.
Not the Fulani Yoruba.

2. Obviously from my statement, a discerning mind would quickly code that I'm referring to the North.

3. The huge majority Fulanis in Kaduna, Zaria, Funtua, Gusau and a large part of Sokoto speak Fula first and Hausa second. There are also Tuaregs and Berbers here in Sokoto who speak their own indigenous languages before speaking Hausa and they speak both seemlessly and fluently.

4. I have not been to Ilorin so I can't say anything about that, but I know a few Yoruba Fulani who identify as Yoruba, dress as Yoruba and speak Yoruba language with no understanding of Fulfude. They're also devout Muslims as well.

I get very confused when I hear these folks sometimes. They need to ponder on why there are Igbo speaking communities that retain Igbo culture and traditions deep in Benin when you can't see this vice versa.

Nevertheless, I do believe strongly that Benin had attempted several times to expand towards Igboland, which the autonomous and deeply egalitarian Igbos weren't too fond about.
This is possibly is why so many western Igbos have folktales of bringing the oba's head, harvesting his teeth for feast making and enthroning rebels in his place. I believe those were some of the favourites.

This recurrent mischief by Benin folks at their borders unfortunately caused many Igbo-speaking groups to harbour deep-seated apathy for their western neighbours and their leader.

The civil war fight was no d fight of the Benin but of Nigeria, all history book will tell you Midwest was neutral and biafra troops met no resistance...
