Lostz:And those politicians are not 'us'? Ok they are alien abi? Do you know what collective means or a single unit? As a people we do not produce ANYTHING! If you disagree then tell us what we produce. |

MusaChukwudi:almost everything I enjoy eating are produced locally. there is no country in the world that does not import food. China spend about $60b importing food every year |

I never doubted here, I was only pointing to the fact that our local producers do not get enough support. Angelfrost: |

johnmartus:Your stupidity is like mtn, it's everywhere you go. Your hatred for a political party has indeed clouded your sense of reasoning and to say you will still vote Buhari again shows that you will never see anything good in your entire life. Where do i start from? Insecurity, poverty and hunger or lack of direction!!! The damage Buhari has cost Nigeria will take another 2 decades or more to rebuild again, Nigeria is at this level because we have more stupid people like you than sensible ones. |

CSTR2:Pharmacologist cannot give you drugs! They only study how drugs act in the body! Only pharmacists(who also study pharmacology) make drugs! Making drugs is both science and art and only pharmacists are groomed in the process of drug making. Be guided |

I disagreed with them , though Nigeria can't boost of having sufficiently to our requirements, that doesn't mean we don't have those drugs produced here, THIS CALLS FOR AN OPPORTUNITY FOR NIGERIA MANUFACTURERS TO WAKE UP AND RUN MULTIPRODUCTION FOR MORE OUTPUT THAT'S ALL. |
| Re: Drug Scarcity Looms In Nigeria As India Suspends Export by Jman06(m): 3:25pm On Mar 05, 2020 |
It's a shame that Nigeria cannot boast of self sufficiency in the manufacture of essential drugs! Put laws in place to guard our drug market, the government refused. Improve on power supply so that the few manufacturers would spend less on electricity generation and channel the resources into expanding their bases, they also refused! Now that China has decided to cut down on export of their pharmaceuticals, we'll start running helter skelter and when they eventually lift the ban, we'll heave a sigh of relieve and forget about any plans to find a permanent solution to drugs insecurity. Who cursed Nigeria sef! |

| Re: Drug Scarcity Looms In Nigeria As India Suspends Export by Jman06(m): 8:17pm On Mar 23, 2020 |
frankline461:With your Bsc pharmacology, you are not licensed to make and dispense drugs! Your scope is to contribute to research and teaching of pharmacology! Get that into your head and prepare to proceed with your MSc and PhD. Don't let anybody deceive you! If you want to practice as a pharmacist, take JAMB now and apply. No short cuts!!! |
| Re: Drug Scarcity Looms In Nigeria As India Suspends Export by frankline461: 8:25pm On Mar 23, 2020 |
Jman06:We are not allowed to make drugs (pharmaceutical companies are), we are not allowed to dispense drugs (pharmacists are). What we contribute to healthcare as a whole is the discovery and development of novel compounds to different illnesses (research). We are allowed to synthesize compounds and isolate them (from natural products) tests their effects on different receptor, in vivo and in-vitro and determine their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data. This is the first step in drug discovery and it is done by a pharmacologists. Without pharmacology, there would be little data and knowledge about drugs in general. We might not have a license to dispense, but our knowledge of drugs is unrivalled |
| Re: Drug Scarcity Looms In Nigeria As India Suspends Export by Jman06(m): 8:41pm On Mar 23, 2020 |
frankline461:We are still talking about RESEARCH. Mind you, you are not the only one that studies pharmacology up to PhD. Most of the PhD holders in pharmacology in Nigeria are still pharmacists. The area of drugs discovery and development is multidisciplinary encompassing people from chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy( including pharm chem, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics, pharm micro) medicine, immunology, pharmacology etc. Anybody with the brain and qualifications from the above fields can discover or contribute to drug discovery but ON PAPER. It is the pharmacist that converts the paper discovery into live drug molecules and then compound such molecules and beautifully package them appropriately to what we have as medicines! |
