The country has recorded four new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said.

It said this brings the total number of infected persons in Nigeria to 40 as of 11:00 pm on Monday.

NCDC confirmed this in a Monday night tweet.

According to the agency, three of the new cases are in Lagos while the other one is in Abuja.

"Four new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. 3 are in Lagos State and 1 in FCT.

"Two of these cases are returning travellers.

"As at 11:00 pm on the 23rd of March, there are 40 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death recorded," the agency said.

It is high time we explore the option of a total shutdown. The number is still minimal now and can be controlled easily.

And meanwhile, let all Nigerians get tested while they stay indoor as a matter of compulsion. This will help us a know the extent of the spread and tackle the virus fiercely once and for all.

NO country has that capacity...
Certainly not Nigeria with its estimated 200m citizens.

That's an unfortunate reality though...
Because, as seen across the world, the more tests the more cases.

We need to try a total shutdown for a few days.
It is the only way out before things get out of hand fully. If not in all the states, but I think it is imperative Abuja & Lagos be shut down for at least a week or two. I really don't know why FG is handling this issue with carefree approach

Could have closed the land,sea,air borders in time when it started ravaging and spreading to Europe,America and knew returnees will likely bring this to naija but ineptitude and trying to cause mass hysteria so they can find a way to appropriate and siphon money for all this..Puta!!!!
