DCmonster: Please don't blame the Government alone. Corporate and religious organizations are doing nothing and it's so sad. I suggested a nationwide fundraising for some of these items to be distributed across the 774 LGA's including food few days ago. Look, if we don't lockdown now, we are at risk of loosinng up to 10% of our population to this virus within a year. The question is, how do we survive this situation for six months? To be honest, no one alive today has experience on how to deal with a pandemic of this proportion because this happens once in a century. That's why the whole world is on her knees. The US health department was of the opinion that the pattern of infection in their country is more peculiar compare with other part of the world because it infects younger persons there and they don't know why. It's too early to detect any pattern of infection in Nigeria. I'm not too impressed the way our religious organizations were silent on this. They should be in the forefront of raising fund to buy senitisers, gloves, food items, toleteries for the poor public. These are the same people whose generation upon generation have been contributing their hard earned money in form of offerings and tithes without any equity in the organization. The GO's reward is here on earth while the member's reward is only due in heaven. What would Jesus do in this kind of situation. He fed 5000 people will few fishes and he shared the story of the good Samaritan. Let the Churches and mosques donate important items to the needy now. We only have few days opportunity. We need to lockdown as soon as possible. If the religious houses won't listen, let us all be our brothers keeper. 1 Like |

Grace001: Lagossians would sit at home if the order is put in place and lik ein Italy, USA, UK and other countries, if you DEFY the LOCKDOWN order, you WILL be arrested, fined, lockedup or SHOT, as the case and need arise! All this talk of wetin we go chop during Lockdown are non-starters! First, some of you will defy a "persuasive lockdown", to go and buy Indomie (since it is always about food with you guys!), then you will contract the Virus on your outing, become sick and when you eventually die (or survive with permanent Lung damage), that your Indomie will be eaten by someone who stayed at home and used their brain. STAYING ALIVE is the First Law of Nature (Survival). People with common sense have been hearing of a possible lockdown in the last one week and they have been keeping small-small money aside to buy food that are cheap but can be stored for at least two weeks, without damage (Rice, Beans, Garri, Salt, Sugar, e.t.c) in the qualtities they can afford but foolish ones are online all day, shouting about how they will die of Hunger, if there was a two weeks lockdown! Keep whinning instead of getting to do something to preserve your life. And this should serve as a lesson to some of some people that eat with all your ten fingers, No sense of saving for the rainy day, always playing Sport Bet and NairaBet with any extra change they have. Learn to keep a little chnge aside, even if you are a Labourer that earns #3,000 daily, eat half (#1,500....and keep the remaining half. That is what a responsible person who wants to change their circumstances, does. Stop moaning that you live from hand-to-mouth or from leg-to-mouth BTW, l am not averse to Govt making an IMMEDIATE #10,000 transfer to the very vulnerable in our society, like they did with the trader money, so people can use it to buy food items and keep in the house. All the Rice that have been stocked up should also be made available, Churches and their G.O's, Mosques and their Imams, should purchase them and distribute to members, not just be selfish and think about themselves alone. As it is, we all die together or survive together. 2 Likes |
