Status of COVID-19
As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.

The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.

The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.

The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.

Cases of COVID-19 are no longer managed by HCID treatment centres only. All healthcare workers managing possible and confirmed cases should follow the updated national infection and prevention (IPC) guidance for COVID-19, which supersedes all previous IPC guidance for COVID-19. This guidance includes instructions about different personal protective equipment (PPE) ensembles that are appropriate for different clinical scenarios.

Finally got an email today that the flight is cancelled , so I rescheduled it for may . thanks

The rescheduled flight I did has been cancelled again lol. Her visa expires April 24 so want to check with UKVI but they never pick up calls. Hope they resply my email sha

That what happens when you cut and cut public funds. In this last 10years many hospitals have been downsized......so surely there will be no hospital beds in the case of "unprecedented times" ....

It was initially extended until 31 March to Chinese citizens. Now that it's global, it will be subject to review.

COViD 19 is not respecting anybody

The extension, announced today (24 March) by the Home Secretary Priti Patel, will apply to anyone whose leave expired after the 24 January and who cannot leave the country because of travel restrictions or self-isolation.

This will last until 31 May but will be kept under regular review in case further extensions are needed.

A dedicated COVID-19 immigration team has been set up within UKVI to make the process as straightforward as possible. Anyone in this situation just needs to contact this team, via this email address CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk, to let them know their visa has expired and they will be issued with an extension.

To help those who want to apply for visas to stay in the UK long-term, the Home Office is also temporarily expanding the in-country switching provisions.

This will mean people can apply to switch routes, such as from Tier 4 (student) to Tier 2 (General Worker), whilst remaining in the UK. UKVI will continue to process applications as quickly as possible, however some applications may take longer than usual due to COVID-19 related operational pressures.

Then the issue of 'essential workers' key workers....dont go to work unless you can't work from home....all very confusing especially self employed workers

Imagine the amount of unsuspected, suspected or asymptotic's, observing lockdown or working within the health sector (unknowingly spreading it).........

How are the far East Asian (with the exception of China) beating this virus with less disruption to economic activities?

It seems discipline, obedience to authorities and oversupply of mask (non-hospital grade to prevent asymptomatic carriers from spreading droplets on surfaces) helped to a lot.

Man. These guys were prepared. Other countries were busy stockpiling weapons but they were spending money on protection against viruses.
