Nigerian Army Removes General In Viral Video Asking For Weapons To Fight Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lt. General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff, has removed General Olusegun Adeniyi, who appeared in a viral video urging military authorities to supply them with weapons and accurate intelligence to combat Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East region.

Adeniyi, who is Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, in the viral video lamented how his men were outgunned and ambushed while on an operation in Borno.

SaharaReporters on Tuesday exclusively gathered that a massive shake-up involving the redeployment of over 50 senior officers would be carried out today and Adeniyi is one of persons affected.

Several army generals would be removed on account of the viral video that caused the military authorities great embarrassment.

The Nigerian Army has in recent times suffered huge losses in the fight against Boko Haram due to lack of intelligence, sufficient weaponry to match the insurgents and neglect of troop welfare.

Terrorists recently ambushed and killed over 70 soldiers in Borno State.

ALARMIST. His redeployment is part of extensive redeployments just released by Nigerian Army.

More than fifty officers couldn't have been hurriedly redeployed by Nigerian Army just to just to punish one General Adeniyi for making a video. After all, he assumed the position after a similar redeployment in the past.

Better for him. I hope the boys can also drop their uniform and return back to their love ones. Boko Haram is an avenue to enrich some individual at the detriment of some peoples lives.

not my business, it's not like we have any problem in this country, the army be threatening individuals bcuz they are armed. Am no longer happy with this country. they brought the boko haram, they should handle it for all I care, changing the general will do no good it's the same people, they just want the less vulnerable, whom they can control.

Although i wish to advice the President on a simple strategy that would help them win the war,unfortunately security matters are only discussed in private.What is missing here is good real time reconnaissance.

With all the bogus budget, some high ranking officers are siphoning the money to their pockets.

Buhari's hailers will still support their failure of a president even when the *gallant General* who is on the battle field exposed their Messiah. Questions begging for answer.
What happened to the *billion dollar* that was withdrawn under this administration all in the name of trying to technically defeat bh?

Most of those giving boko Haram Intel are in the military. The war against boko Haram will never end because they are benefitting from it.

I believe that video was leaked. His consistent use of "sir" in the video indicates he was addressing a superior officer concerning what they were experiencing on the battlefield as against what they were told.
