Lexusgs430:We are all part of the NHS.... the cleaners, house keepers porters etc. We all have families and loved ones. We are all important. In fact, you may not realise the importance of the HCA till you are on a 12hour shift and you are short of one |

gratefulme40:Don't get me wrong, i know their importance. I am saying Ruth, during the press conference, did not even mention the dead Hca's....... She only mentioned the 2 RGN's... |

DisGuy:LoL if they had done this since, shey health workers would have been thoroughly protected before now. My husband was like he commends them (he is labour) but that he is sure when everything settles down, they will cut funds again to the NHS with the excuse that they spent so much during the pandemic ![]() |

Lexusgs430:No, I understood what you meant. The media acting like the HCAs are not important. A colleague just sent me a picture of a HCA that passed away from this nonsense. |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 12:15pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Lexusgs430:This is so wrong. I believe HCAs and volunteers should be even praised more because they have every right to turn down such jobs, but they didn’t. HCAs/volunteers aren’t even paid enough for such risks and won’t get compensated well! |

Bourne007:Visa extension?? What type of visa ?? I don’t think they qualify for any sort of visa except may be spouse visas or PBS dependant visas. So they get extension on the basis of their spouse.... |

Bourne007:Salary requirement for one and also getting a sponsor. Doubt HCA is on the shortage occupation list, so they have to show the usual advert requirement and how they couldn't get someone to fill the position |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by DaveChapelle: 9:23pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Bourne007:HCA job is not anything special. It's like auxilliary nurse. Even students or undergraduates can get a job as HCA, so there's no need to bring people from abroad on visa yet. However, a HCA can be your boss tomorrow, as they are usually doing it as an interim post while thngs get batter. A HCA in my previous hospital is a rota coordinator in my Trust now. And iknew a prospective medical student who was doing HCA to save money for medical school |

Pls and Pls u guys should have respect in ones job. Not because u find yr self to be a doc, nurse and u condem HCA. Afterall there are doing more jobs than the so call nurses. The difference is just the higer education and salary. There are so many HCA doing very well and living good. I am not happy about all these negative comments on HCA. Abroad is not like Nigeria where u condem pple's job. Let us have respect for pple job please. *Dinity in labour* Even if no body recognises their job, God do and will elevate them. All these comments makes the moral of HCA low. Pls stop! |

DaveChapelle:HCA job is not anything special If it is not special then why are hospital recruiting them? I am not HCA but, the way u guys look down on their job is very wrong. How will u feel if one tells you that what u are doing is not special ![]() |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Monmarri: 10:33pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
fatima04:Not a good statement at all. These HCA are also takes care of those covid patients that tested positive. They should receive accolade. Have u seen the way these HCA work in the hospital?? Then u should withdraw that statement. I believe everyone should try to recognise and respect ones job. |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 10:40pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Monmarri:The role of the HCA is very important, in delivering adequate care..... Some HCA's triage patients, take bloods, do ECG's etc etc This conversation started when Ruth May never gave any recognition to the dead Hca's and the press too, towed the same lines........... |
| Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Monmarri: 10:59pm On Apr 04, 2020 |
Lexusgs430:I know. Even if she doesn't or forget to recongize them no worries but the way some members of these forum just started talking bad about the HCA I was not happy. I am a member of some health forum, the nurses fell bad and said good things about the HCA. While some of us in this forum that doesn't even know any job responsibilities of HCA started saying all sorts about them not bin special. No body should look down on ones job no matter how small. |

Monmarri:True talk ..... no country health care can function without HCA , and many other support staffs. They are all vital services |

Thinking beyond Covid 19, I hope there will be adequate and prompt treatment for nhs staff with PTSD. Felt like crying at work today, but then could not cry. Burden of service. |

DaveChapelle:The cleaner and hospital porters job is special. If there was no one to clean the wards I sure it will be closed down or to move the patient from one part of the hospital to another. Just like the baggage handlers at the airport if they go on strike flights will be cancelled. Everybody’s job is as important as the next. If the shop workers go on strike where would you buy your groceries. All these individual jobs are what keeps the Nation moving. |
