Heavy Traffic In Lekki As Lagos Residents Flout Lockdown by valentineuwakwe(m): 6:18am On Apr 07, 2020
Despite the lockdown in Lagos State to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, hundreds of motorists were on Monday stranded in a gridlock on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Footage of the gridlock, which was trending online, showed hundreds of vehicles stuck in traffic.

“No isolation anymore, no quarantine in Lagos State, from Jakande Estate to Agungi, full hold up is going on right now,” the person, who recorded the video, could be heard saying.

Some of the stranded motorists lamented having to spend hours for journeys that should have lasted minutes.

While some complained that the gridlock was caused by security agents enforcing the lockdown by scrutinising motorists plying the road, others said not all those stuck in the gridlock were rendering essential services and thus, were exempted from the lockdown.

A stranded motorist, who is a health worker, said on condition of anonymity that she had to abort her journey to a hospital in the Ikeja area of the state after spending three hours in the gridlock, adding that residents were not complying with the directive on the total lockdown of the state.

The medical personnel stated, “I spent three hours navigating through Igbo-Efon and Jakande roundabouts. I was on my way to work and driving out of Lekki when I ran into the gridlock around 10am. I was still in the traffic by 1pm and in that period, there was a heavy downpour, so, I had to turn back at the Jakande roundabout.

“I learnt that the gridlock was caused by security agents enforcing the lockdown as they were stopping motorists and asking them where they were going. However, some of the people on the road were essential service providers. People are not complying with the lockdown at all.”

A Twitter user, Chiekezi Dozie, condemned the development and questioned the effectiveness of the lockdown.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-srY1Gwq98

He wrote on his Twitter handle, @iChexo,

“As if we are not mad enough as it is already this is Lekki Ezpressway 1 hour ago on a supposed lockdown. We really are a selfish bunch of people @Outsiderinside1 see ya people on lockdown. Please help me ask them where they are going today.”

When contacted, the General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Olajide Oduyoye, said, “There will be gridlock, because the police are all over the place checking that those who are supposed to be on the road are the ones that are allowed to be on the road and once that happens, there will be gridlock.

“The fact that there is a build-up of traffic doesn’t necessarily mean that people are violating the lockdown. However, it doesn’t change the fact that the number of vehicles on that road was a bit high, because I saw the footage too.

“But the government also said that markets could open between 10am and 2pm; the issue now is that a market is not at the junction of every street, so the people who are selling in the markets will need to be conveyed there and there is no purpose for the markets if people who need to buy cannot get there.

“So, that could also be a factor in terms of the increased number of vehicles on the road. People in the Lekki-Ajah areas are affluent and rely on their cars, and that was what, in my opinion, created what was witnessed on Monday morning.”

I know Nigerians will not obey this lockdown for full two weeks because of poverty.
All the politicians that have brought up this lockdown have stored their houses with foods and drinks that can last for 4 to 5 months leaving the poor class to suffer.
We have in this country 10percent upperclass,30percent middle-class and 60 percent very lower class. Now tell me how the very lower class will suvive after 5 days of lockdown.

*TOTAL SECURITY IN JESUS CHRIST*

A critical look into what is happening in the world today will in many ways reveal that we are indeed in critical times. The Coronavirus pandemic has shifted the world to the edge. Pastors and prophets are coming up with prophecies of end time, and how any moment from now, the church will be raptured.

This post is not to regurgitate or reiterate all that has been said, or to create fear or panic in you (You have had too much dose of that lately), but to point you to one person - *Jesus the Christ!*

*2nd Tim. 1 vs 7* _":For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."_

Fear is not the father's gift to us, but "LOVE." and nothing can change that for a man who has a defined place in Christ. These are end times, no doubt, Prophecies in the Bible are playing out before our very eyes, but, We are still on earth and Christ has no come yet. Which means, grace still abound in all of these. Grace for repentance, Grace for reconsecration.

If you are reading this and you're scared, it maybe because you have no place in Christ and your walk with God is not defined. The spirit of fear currently ravaging the world is *NEVER* from God. Jesus loves you so much to allow you perish.

It is in Christ you can have total Security from all that's happening currently. Scripture says:

*Prov. 18 vs 10:* _"The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. "_

But, you cannot run into a name (Jesus) that you don't know and have no relationship with. Can you seek refuge and safety in the house of a man you don't know?

Jesus is calling you to genuine repentance today. He loves you so, so much to allow you perish. His wish is that everyone will come to repentance.

*John 3 vs 17:* _"For God sent not his son to *Condemn the world, but that the world through him might be save."_

Jesus has not come to condemn anyone, but to save you. He is not casting you away. How can a father who loves you cast you away?

If you're not genuinely born again, you are not safe. You're living on the edge. Now is the time. Just bow your head now and talk to him. Tell him you're sorry for your sins and you want to enter into this total Security in Christ. Tell him you accept him as your Only Lord and saviour, and henceforth, you'll live for him.

Hallelujah!!! . I personally welcome you to this new life. The life of the believer. You are now a child of God. Praise God!

Please share to other whatsapp groups.

If you need someone to talk to, you can message me privately.

I love you.
