WE CLEARED BOKO HARAM FROM NIGERIAN TOWNS: THEIR SOLDIERS REFUSES TO TAKE OVER - CHADIAN PRESIDENT. - NEW YORK TIMES

“We want the Nigerians (troops) to come and occupy, so we can advance,” President Déby complained in an interview at his palace last week. “We’re wasting time, for the benefit of Boko Haram,” he added. “We can’t go any further in Nigeria. We’re not an army of occupation.”
According to New York Time, “a small-country president cleaning up a far bigger and richer one’s mess”.

Déby showed no hint of triumphalism. Instead, he was frustrated, impatient: His men were stuck, still awaiting any sign of Nigerian forces who could come to take over.

He does not want to be holding Nigerian territory, he said. He wants to be on the move to give Boko Haram more Blows.
The top echelons of the Nigerian Military know what to do but they will not do because if they do it will be the end of the Multi-billion Naira business done in the guise of fighting BH

The only reason general Buhari became a president is because of his sickness and also mainly to give more power to the north.

Every other thing he does is just a bonus. He is more concern about his health, he knows Nigeria will empty her treasury to take care of the number 1 citizen. At least for that 8 years.

General Buhari scammed us.
U are so much correct there.... From d very first day buhari entered power I knew it was just a waste of time bcs how can a weak man and uneducated man rule Nigeria when an educated man was struggling

So the president of a country being in the front lines is a commendable move?

Hello, if you truly know about leadership, you won't compose what you have up there. So if a confrontation happens and he is shot dead, what would be your conclusion.

Is he a combatant, Airforce or Naval officer. What skill does he have to be in the front lines.

So you expect MTN CEO to climb a Telecom mast when their is a major outage.

It's demoralises, insult and ridicule to the Generals in his cabinet. And same time and insult to his office to have appointed incompetent lots that had to warrant him to go to the frontlines.

We talking about a No 1 man of a country.

If you like shout till they kingdom come. Your money na 30k. Management BMC

Unpredictability. Do not make the obvious move, and avoid leaving a pattern in your past activities. The enemy should not be able to identify what you will do in the future from what you did in the past. Do not take predictable routes, change your camp position . . . keep the enemy guessing.

Leading By Example. Always be there with your troops (but maybe not always at the front), be observable, and earn the respect of the soldiers by sharing their hardships. Sun Tzu uses various images here to back up his point that the commander is “with the troops.” The first image he gives is of the commander leading the troops up a ladder that is then kicked away, allowing for no return. Alternatively, the army is represented as a great herd of animals moving as one with the leader in the center directing them all in a way that cannot be predicted from the outside. Be with the troops in all dangerous situations, but remain unknown to the enemy.

Responsibility. As leader you must confidently assume responsibility for the whole force. Be at the center of everything and use your troops in the most efficient way with the best results.

He is/was a military man. Read up his biography. Do you know how many rebellion he led/survived during his hey-days in the Chadian army? His choice/actions may look stupid to you but he's not afraid of death from what I can see. Besides, he has a Prime Minister who will take over immediately if something untowards happen to him.

In 2020, you telling me the No 1 man of a country is not afraid to die.

"He was" is different from "He is". This statements matter alot in professionalism.

Our problems in this country is more than Chad's issue. No country has gotten it totally right in every aspect, even US military have lost woefully in the past to Vietnam and Somalia.

Right now, we should be giving accolades to our medical team who are fighting COVID - 19 (which is worst than Boko Haram) and also discharging recovered patients weekly. Indeed not every thing in Nigeria is bad.

Have you forgotten that a king leads the battle? No one is asking President Buhari to carry weapon and fight boko haram but his presence or a visit to the soldiers in their camp will encourage them. Besides, he promised to fight insurgency by leading the battle but he is not doing that.

Lastly, you have this typical selfish mind of Nigerian leaders ( let them do the work while we chill all the time). For him to be there(front line) he knows better what and what not to expect. The guy is a fighter.

A president is a fighter!
