Nursing Mother Commits Suicide In Uyo Over Pressure From Husband by Islie: 7:42pm On Apr 10, 2020
One Mrs Esther Frank resident in Uyo, on Thursday night, took her life over alleged pressure and lies from her husband.

The deceased was said to have left a suicide note for her husband and two children, saying she was tired of the pressure.

It was gathered that the deceased drank a bottle of sniper and lay down unconscious in her room when she was discovered by neighbours who rushed her to St Luke’s Hospital in Anua, Uyo, where she eventually died.

A neighbour to the deceased, Mrs. Iboro Etuk who narrated the incident said she and the deceased talked before the unfortunate incident.

She said they both stood outside the gate of their compound to buy water before the deceased told her to take care of her children as she was going out to buy something.

Mrs Etuk explained that when she later heard the baby of the deceased crying continuously, she went inside the house of the deceased and found her on the floor.

She noted that in trying to shake the deceased to wake up, she discovered the bottle of sniper and raised an alarm which attracted the landlady.

According to her, they rushed the deceased to the hospital where she died, leaving behind a three months old baby and three years old son.

She said, “Mrs Esther Frank, is in her early thirties. She just graduated from the University and is yet to go for her youth service.

She is from Anambra state while her husband, Mr Frank is from Delta state but he is currently in Dubai.

“She sent her three-year-old boy to come and stay with my children. It has never happened before. She told me that she was going to buy something, that I should please take care of her children’.

“Before that, we both stood outside to buy pure water but since we didn’t see it, she went back into her apartment, while I waited outside.

“When I heard her baby crying, I told her son who was in my apartment, to take me inside the house. There I saw her laying on the floor. I shook her and told her to pick up her son but she did not respond.

“I ran out and informed the landlady and the other tenants. They came and saw the bottle of sniper laying on the floor. We rushed her to the hospital where she died. The landlady later reported the incident to the Police, ‘B’ Division.

“When the landlady called her husband and told him his wife was dead, he exclaimed ‘What?’. According to her sister, she (the deceased) has been threatening to kill herself and had sent her husband a message threatening to kill herself.

“The children are currently staying with my family. The baby cried throughout the night. I am now the one taking care of the baby.

“The Police were here to investigate the matter. They are aware that we have taken temporary custody of the children.”

The suicide note to the husband of the deceased read: “Please take care of my children please. I can’t take the pressure and lies you are telling again. I can’t take it, please it’s too much. You made everyone around me hate me. Please forgive me, am sorry.

“Gerald please forgive me. Andre please forgive me. You guys are my life,” she wrote to her children.

When the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nndum Fredrick was contacted, he said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

God have mercy. If not for anything, why not live for your kids? Now you have made them motherless.

Secondly, whether some people would believe it or not, the economic situation of Nigerians in their millions have gone from bad to worst as they now go around without food in their stomach. Little wonder there's a sharp increase in armed robbery cases across states. A typical example is the link below that shows a man who fainted in Lagos this morning as a result of hunger after trekking a long distance to seek help somewhere. Hunger is real! It's very real!

Sometimes suicide is the end stage of a mental problem. Suicidal people should seek help. Unfortunately most never give obvious signs.

Why kill yourself lady.

I've been living hungry for a couple of days, begging on nairaland for help, I never see any helper, yet am still optimistic for a better day ahead. Why take the life you can't give.
Life's unfair, but we will scale through. Help me guys, never thought of this in my life.

For those abusing me of buying data to browse, hope you've heard of Airtel and Mtn freemode before. Don't just judge and make a conclusion of what you don't have clue about.

Gracias ...

She is a nonentity and same time very selfish. She agreed the children are her life and went ahead to commit suicide leaving them behind to suffer. What will happen to her if she walk out of the marriage and live for her children?

Love for my kids would never make me contemplate suicide.. 2years ago I was swindled of over 12m.. I kept thinking the opportunity cost of this hard earned money.. With time,my blood pressure rose and I started having palpitations and heart pain.. When I noticed this,..I stopped thinking about the money, stopped making efforts to recover it...which I was even spending more money on..

I just woke up amidst one fitful sleep, thumped myself on the head after looking at my beautiful kids. If I kill myself over some lost money, who will take care and give them the best life they deserve...who will look after my beautiful wife and even my aged parents.. That's how I swallowed that bitter pill, picked up from scratch ,gained focus and resolved all my health probs

How can u claim to love people and yet have a mind to remove yourself permanently from them??

Watch how the man will marry again and those kids be treated as second class..

The truth is that she hates those kids, because if you love someone, you won't hurt them

Sad. I know that feeling of constant lies and rejection, especially from someone who claims he loves you. But that is not enough reason to commit suicide. It is very unfortunate that she didn't deem it fit to walk out and save her kids and family this agony. Very sad indeed.

That's why it is advisable for people to be mature and financially independent before getting into marriage. This maybe would have been avoided.

Don't be too sure. Sometimes love leads us to do stupid things. Have you ever hurt seeing people around you suffer cause you cannot provide for them. Who knows whether she doesn't even have food for the children in this lockdown, and yet she has a husband who "lives abroad". The fear of overseas husband is the beginning of all wisdom. It can frustrate sha.
