IMF should shut, they never saw anything good in any circumstance, they always prophesy doom. Their forecasts will never come to pass over Nigeria in Jesus name

The IMF has only stated the obvious.

Thoughtful Nigerians including policymakers and politicians knew this by the end of January.

For a country just exiting the clamps of recession, the oil war and global pandemic are a major hit on our ailing economy.

The government is helpless in the current situation.

Nevertheless, if the impact of the pandemic does not get as bad as predicted for the West and other trade partners of Nigeria then we might not be caught in as bad a situation as predicted by the IMF.

So, as much as we hope and pray for our nation, so must we also for those we depend on for imports and exports. We need them to remain healthy for our government to remain solvent. Imagine the downward trend continues in the US, the blowback on the world economy would be catastrophic, especially for developing and third world countries. NGOs which employ our friends and families would become part of the first casualties. As funding gets slashed for them, so would their workforce.

The scariest of all is the current price of oil at the international market. It portends grave danger for our economy.

The Govt is "helpless" my azzz.

Wasnt this Govt supppsed to have diversified the Nigerian Economy away from Oil than it met it. Was that not the promise they made.

Throughout the last 5 years of this Govt, the economy has been worst off in every economic index than in any period over the last 35 years(including 2008).

I know of 3 times that Nigeria have been on Recession. And guess what all of them have in common: Buhari

When there was no recession majority of the population couldn't feed themselves now that the world financial body is shouting recession it means the worse is about to happen...I hope the rich will be free to drive their big cars in public without facing harassment ..What Awo predicted is about to happen in Nigeria..Boko Haram rampage will be a child's play

Spiritually hypocritical heavyweight I'd say. If only we'll stay true to our spirituality... But how long do you think hardship and poverty will keep Nigerians 'spirit-centric'. Even our spiritual sensitivity is borne mostly out of our helplessness. It's only our ancestral route converted into modern religion that gives us this spiritual cloak we now wear.

I believe the economy will be in shambles due to this lockdown. The government should look for a better alternative to this lockdown. It does not work in a society like ours.
