Akure explosion: I didn’t know I was carrying explosives – Truck Driver

Akure explosion: I didn?t know I was carrying explosives ? Truck Driver

The driver who drove the truck that contained explosives which wrecked havoc at Eleyewo community in Akure North local government area on Saturday March 28, has disclosed that he didn't know what he was transporting.

Isiaka Yunusa has already undergone a surgery to remove a shrapnel from his stomach as he was rushed to the hospital unconscious after the explosion.

In an interview on a state TV, the truck driver recalled being asked to move some items from a stranded truck at Osu axis along Ife-Ibadan expressway by his boss.

He disclosed that he was driving with a police escort team and a staff of the company where the explosives were to be delivered. Yunusa said they spent the night at Shasha market in Akure after the truck became faulty.

He said;

“I was sleeping inside the truck. I heard a bang on the vehicle door that smoke was coming out from under the vehicle.

“We quickly move. The policeman that led the team said we should move ahead. As we were moving, the policemen in the escort started flashing him that he should stop. As we got down, I saw fire coming out from the vehicle. We brought out fire extinguisher. While other vehicles parked.

“They tried to assist. Suddenly the policemen shouted everybody run everybody run. As I was running, I heard a band and noticed something in my abdomen. That was all I knew and I woke up in the hospital.”

I am so ASHAMED of those Igbos donating to these people instead of helping their cash strapped Governors to build isolation centers for their people. We already know the the Daura Federal Government will not assist any Igbo state with this outbreak. The lessons of the flood disasters are a foretaste of what to expect. Yet, Igbos are tumbling over themselves to outdo each other donating to the fulani killers in the FG? How many Igbos have donated to Enugu state, Abia state, Imo state, Ebonyi state or Anioma?

Obiano has been pleading for N1 billion naira from the Federal Govt without anyone giving it to him. Yet, check the list and see the number of Igbos donating N1 billion or more to Buhari! How many have donated to Obiano's cry for help to build comfortable, well-equipped COVID-19 isolation centers in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi? Yet, they expect Obiano to take care of their loved ones when the outbreak happens? Or open their mouths to say their loved ones are in substandard isolation centers or be calling on the "deaf" Federal Government to help them?

The Federal Government has both the federation account, Excess crude account and NNPC to source dollars if they want. The states and local governments have NOTHING to fall back on. EXCEPT well-meaning citizens

Everyone knows that the present APC federal government is only interested is using the money to protect people in Daura. They will not intervene in any other part of the country. So, it would have been better if those Igbos directly donated to the Daura emirate than deceive themselves thinking their money will be used nationally.

Ask yourself: WHERE ARE THE NORTHERN BILLIONAIRES THAT BENEFIT FROM THE federal government & NNPC, AND KNOW THE BULK OF THE "federal govt " fulani government MONEY WILL BE SPENT IN THE NORTH?

Nice one! It’s starting to look like a Airport runway....looks quite massive! Even as they’re continuing works, they should adhere to social distancing and frequent washing of hands!

Hopefully, we’d also start to see the terminal building, control tower and warehouses (since it’s also a cargo airport) taking shape!

Igbos have been in forefront of donating to the Janjaweeed federal government that will simply ignore igbo states to die like flies if they ever have an outbreak. The current FG will be overjoyed if a virus helps them to eradicate the hated igbos from Nigeria. Something they couldn't do with marginalization or military force.

Imagine that Buhari released N10 billion naira to an already rich state like Lagos to equip its isolation center, yet ignores Anambra to depend on paltry donations from individuals to equip its isolation centers.

The same way they ignored Rivers state appeal for help in setting up its isolation center, knowing the PH international airport could easily risk having expatriates from France and Italy living there.

Igbo People donating to the fantastically corrupt Fulani Federal Government instead of their cash strapped states need to have their heads examined!

Onitsha General Hospital Protection Centre is ready

Anambra is yet to have any case of coronavirus but we are getting prepared for any eventuality.

We can keep our state safe from the pandemic by reducing the number of movements we make and adhere to the sit at home directive of the state government.

Stay home to be safe. Covid19 is real.

COVID-19 Response: Anambra State Government Releases 54 Prisoners

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

Anambra State government has announced the release of fifty four prisoners across the correctional centers in the State.

Governor Willie Obiano made the pronouncement during a Statewide broadcast at his Country home, Aguleri, where he added that the lockdown is still in place across the State, stressing that the move is to decongest the correctional facilities.

According to the Governor who announced that the index case is responding to treatment and has tested negative, awaiting a second confirmation test, Governor Obiano said that thirty nine people have been tracked, out of which five are in the protection centers, while others are quarantined in their respective homes, saying that six samples taken returned negative.

On the Nkpor skirmishes, Governor said that the State will pay the medical expenses of the injured as well as undertake the burial expenses of the deceased, calling on citizens to adhere to all directives against the pandemic, even as he asked security operatives to always uphold high professional standards.

Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), among others were present during the broadcast, and praised the efforts of the state government in containing the pandemic. He said he was in the state to inspect the laboratory facilities at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaka-Awka with a view to certifying it as Covid-19 testing centre.

The only way we can enjoy the 3 major Igbo threads on Nairaland is if we all move our activities to Telegram. Opening a Telegram channel to showcase all these pictures from Igbo land and have meaningful discussions without interruptions from idiots is the only way to go as far as I am concerned. Not everyone may agree with me on this but, seeing the way miscreants disturb the 3 main Igbo threads on nairaland is very annoying.

Benefits of using Telegram Channels:
1) The administrator of the channel doesn't need basic or advanced knowledge of computer programming to open a Telegram channel or group.
2) Unlike Nairaland with biased moderators, a Telegram channel or group can be opened by a trusted person who will have the power to delete stupid posts from miscreants and remove the miscreants from the channel.
3) We all know how one idiot, people call Chino, terrorize Igbo threads with countless number of monikers. On Telegram, once such a person is removed from the group, he or she can't gain access to the group even if he or she clicks on the group's link. That way, a miscreant like Chino will be gone for good.
4) The Channel can have thousands of members who will never miss any update. Once a person joins the channel, the person will always get updated with whatever happens in the channel.

When there is a special news or event taking place in Igbo land, you can always login to your Nairaland account and create a thread for it on Nairaland so it can hit front page and cause heart attack for enemies of Igbo land.

All we need is to create an Igbo Telegram channel, it could be 1 main channel or 3 different channels just as we have 3 different threads on this annoying Nairaland platform. Once the channel or group is created, the link will be posted on the 3 main Igbo threads on Nairaland ( The Anambra thread, the IMO thread and the pan Igbo thread ) so our viewers can join the channel(s). We can also post the link on other threads on Nairaland to gather more members and once in while, we can create threads on Nairaland to showcase some pictures.

As for people who may join the channel days or weeks or months or even after a year it was created, can still scroll back to the beginning of the channel to view the first post that's another benefit of Telegram you don't get on Whatsapp.
