Hello, everyone on here I have some few questions I would like to ask for a clearer path

1: With Trump making move about reopening the United States , will we then be able to request for our I-20 form or we will have to wait for our own country to also open before we can make such request.

2: I don’t really know the one that someone has to put one’s proof of fund (bank statement) DS-160 form/ SEVIS. I need clearance on that as well

3: After Submitting a PROOF OF FUND for Filling the I-20 form then on the day of the interview can I bring along another PROOF OF FUND if i wasn’t able to get the previous one at hand, will it not affect the visa interview and will it also reflect that it is a different one I am submitting for the interview ?

4: One of the Schools that gave me admission didn’t indicate any form of Scholarships does this means I would have to apply for scholarships separately and or contact the school email about it.

5: I would be glad if anyone could suggest the cost of getting a Visa myself and also the other related fees like Tickets, BTA( money needed at the landing airport)

6: As I am an undergraduate student a little a young I guess but will it be advisable and worth it if I can make the procurement of the VISA myself since I will be one speaking to the VIO

1. Please, how much did you pay for it?
2. Will it be sent during this pandemic or after this period?
There was 2 options: Fedex and Ups. Ups is $74 while Fedex is around $85. There is a free option through USPS but it would take 4-6 weeks so I opted for UPS and it days 3-6 days. I am sure they would deliver during this pandemic cos a friend received her drugs from the UK through DHL few days ago

What is the name of your own school? MS or PhD - I think this COVID-19 thing was the reason why schools may be sending I-20 via email. An also, If there are some who has not made up their mind concerning multiple offers, please do so. Some schools are revoking funding for undeciding students oh.

Miami University and it’s MS. I haven’t heard from them though, I should follow up if I don’t get a mail from them in 2-3days.

My friend also told me some schools are rescinding funding for undeciding students, and I am only glad I accepted mine on time grin

Please follow up as appropriate. It's nice to know that you accepted the funding before now. I wish you the best as we move forward.

Yes. It is normal. Most schools that sent offer letters to qualified students, around March, gave them till around April to accept or reject their offers. The undeciding students might not be that lucky because the revoked funding will be given to those on waiting list.

If I may ask, what do you need i20 for?

The US has evacuated it's citizens from Nigeria and closed their borders all over the world till further notice. Schools over here are contemplating online class in fall semester. Summer classes have already been scheduled for online only. Some schools are even thinking moving fall semester till January 2021.

My advice is chill. Everything is uncertain right now. If I was in your shoe I'll wait till things gets a little clearer before I make any move

If it’s possible to process your i20, please do, do not mind anyone above my comment advising otherwise, DHL still flies so yeah it’s possible, I got mine last week and resumption date still remained unchanged, meaning these schools are hoping things return to normal soon, its not as if you’re processing i20 will get in the way of other things, we are not doing anything sef.

This is a terrible advice. There is no harm in being prepared.

Terrible advice?

What value is the i20 if you cannot book interview with it as the embassy is closed with no resumption date.

what value is the i20 since the US has evacuated all its citizens from the country with no return date. Who will run the embassy and interview visa candidates?

What value is the i20 if school move fall semester to January 2021. or if schools move fall semester to online making your need to be on campus useless?

The value of something lies in the importance you place on it and right now i20 should have little importance

Not requesting for i20 doesn't make one unprepared. If the poster is at i20 stage of this schooling journey, the absence of i20 cannot make him unprepared. There are other stuffs to prepare on than having i20 at hand with all these current uncertainties

abeg what is your gain by discouraging people ? American Embassies all around the world are closed and at some point, they’d reopen and anyone can schedule an interview, it will shock you people like this might have a fully funded i20 already, nah dem de go for night class lie say dem no read.

If you plan to move forward with your academic plans, there is no harm having the I-20 at hand, since you'll still need it when everything gets back to normal which can be anytime, so better to be prepared actually than caught unawares.

I still stand on my statement that it's a terrible advice. My reason is simple.

Should the American govt decide to open its consulate and embassy in Nigeria before August, there will be a rush for the limited interview slots. Those who have their SEVIS ID and have made SEVP payments will stand a much much better chance of securing a visa interview date.

Like I said its not a bad idea to be prepared. The cost of securing the i20 is an almost insignificant part of the total cost of making the move to the United States.

I understand that things don't look good right now and the chances that the US will be relaxing its immigration policy anytime soon are slim. But, you never know.

( think he has a point. It's not a terrible advice and I don't think he's discouraging anybody. I'm also an applicant. I believe schools are facing a lot of uncertainties at this time (funding decisions especially)cos they're not sure if an on-campus fall semester will be feasible. I think the best bet is to wait. If you have your i20, great. If you don't, then wait, let's all see how things will pan out)

Good day friends.
I got an admit that is partly funded. That is, it is fully funded at $25k starting from the second year, hence I'm to provide proof of fund for the 1st year. Can I use a financial statement from a church? 2oyld it be considered?

Thanks

Will the church be sponsoring your education? If yes then why? Will you be able to explain to the VO why the church sponsoring you and not other church members?

hope you know Trump has already set up a committee to open the country in May. If it's not done in May, they'd most likely start it by June.

Plus US oil fell below $1 today, meaning that reopening of the economy has to be done quickly to prevent further depreciation.
