So, many footballers take off five or ten years from their age and go to Europe. Because when you decide to become a professional player at 16 or 17 years of age, you have 12 years to make enough money to keep you before you retire. And you can't make the big money playing in Nigeria.

How many African players did Sir Alex turn to great players ? How many Africans did sir Alex even sign in his time ? I am an arsenal fan but even though money was a major factor for choosing Chelsea, Chelsea was a safer option and he went on to win everything with Chelsea playing crucial roles in some seasons they won things . Quinton Fortune is probably the most successful African to play for United and even he was bang average. In the last twenty years only six Africans have signed and played for Manchester United and almost all of them were flops .
