I don't know if anyone has experienced this and got it fixed. Although it looks trivial but I just want it fixed. For those who are familiar with 8th generation Civic (2006-2011) instrument cluster. The speedometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge is digital with a blue light background which makes the display visible any time of the day. The issue is that my own blue light background is not lightening so in the afternoon when the sun is shining bright I faintly see the temperature and fuel gauge against the dark background while the speedometer is even barely visible at all. In the night I can see all clearly cos everywhere is dark. What could make the blue light background not coming on and how can I get it back on...I love seeing my speedometer when I'm on the highway. It gives me joy. |

cdoffx:Have u tried to manually increase the brightness? There is a + ve button at left side of dashboard (close to driver door) for this. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by cdoffx(m): 11:50am On Apr 24, 2020 |
sholarb:Yeah it's at maximum brightness....it seems you don't understand what I'm describing. You know the display has a kind of blue background light. It's that blue background light that is not there again which now makes the display not very visible in the afternoon. I have attached a picture below to show the blue background I'm talking of...mine is not having that blue background again

cdoffx:The blue bulb must have burned out. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by cdoffx(m): 12:36pm On Apr 25, 2020 |
Mrford:I was suspecting that too...got an idea if it can be replaced? |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Mrford(m): 12:58pm On Apr 25, 2020 |
cdoffx:I don't really know if the bulb is soldered to the panel or its detachable like that of rx300. You will need to bring out to see. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by cdoffx(m): 4:38pm On Apr 25, 2020 |
Mrford:I just watched a YouTube video and it's soldered although the guy in the video was able to change and re-solder but I guess it's not for someone who's not a professional. Also another video on the process of remove the dashboard to be able to access the speedometer looks tedious and complicated. It's looks like removing the whole front compartment from the driver side to the stereo and A/C side. I just checked your signature and seems you are in PH...that's a long way from here. Guess I'll just stick to displaying the speedometer reading on my stereo display, that's still manageable. |

Hello guys, I drive Honda pilot 04, and I have a series of issues with it now 1. When on low speed, the steering becomes very hard to turn until I rev a little bit before it goes fine. 2. When driving atimes, I noticed it sometimes just looses thrust especially when it's on low fuel ( I have replaced the fuel pump and no difference) 3. Hard starting is getting worse 4. I noticed there is a oil leakage between the gearbox and the engine block. I don't know if anybody here had experienced such before and how they went about fixing it. And like how much is the front bumper for pilot 04 now ![]() |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Mrford(m): 9:33am On Apr 26, 2020 |
kasillars:1. Your steering pump is weak. 2. Did you check fuel pressure before replacing pump? Did you change both filter and pump or just the pump? Did you scan to see if there is a code? 3. This is likely related to number 2 4. The oil seal between your gear box and engine is bad. |
| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by kasillars(m): 11:29am On Apr 26, 2020 |
Mrford:1. Okay will try to replace the steering pump 2. I didn't check the fuel pressure before replacing but, I changed both the filter and the pump 3. I will scan the engine immediately after this lockdown 4. I will replace that too. Thank you very much |

Mrford:So I decided to follow the YouTube video I watched and pry open my dashboard to get to the speedometer. Here's what I noticed after opening the speedometer, the led is actually white and the blue backlight is actually an overlay(i confirmed this on some Civic forum too)on the LCD screen. In my case it seems that overlay has been burnt maybe by heat and then I think it's been changed before cos it's not blue but black or maybe the heat burn made it look black.

cdoffx:Wow! You really tried. So the problem is just the overlay that gives it the blue colour? The problem now is if you will be able to see a replacement. |

| Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by cdoffx(m): 1:59pm On Apr 26, 2020 |
Mrford:No be small thing o...I had to rip out the stereo set, tachometer cover before I can get to the screws that hold the speedometer cluster cover. I guess it's how much I hate not having that background look that pushed me on and I equally used the opportunity to clean all my A/C air vent. As for getting the overlay replacement I have asked my brother to help me ask his friend that deals in auto parts but if I can get it then I'll probably use a blue tint...sense will not kill me. Lolz |

Good day all, I drive Honda Accord 2009, this morning I tried to open my car with the remote control but the lock is not opening and am sure the remote battery is fine because changed it recently. Unfortunately for me my key can't open the driver side. What can I do to gain access to the car. Thank you. |

Hello to my Honda professors, I drive a Honda Civic 2008 a month before the lockdown I traveled from Lagos to Ogun state and getting to Ogun state my break went flat and the break oil container overflowed, attached picture is the break oil container that overflowed and was spilling break oil. A mechanic check the car legs and the break pad were still good so as the disc what can cause a sudden flat break and after leaving the car to cool down (temperature) the break will now rise again. Also my office is about 10minute away from my house and I can stay withing town for month without traveling, whenever I am withing the city I don't experience this flat break but when ever I travel a longer distance and speed all the way that is when I experience this flat break. It is the second flat break I have encountered and God saved me all the way I am scared and pray that a third flat break should not occur. My Honda guru, please what can I do?

plugchef:Possible leakage from the pipe that carries brake fluid or your master brake is faulty. |
