fxdee:You keep bringing this type of nonsense talks. ok, how about Lagos vs New York? or London or let talk Lagos vs Delhi. Yes, compare to other oil producing city in the world, Uyo might have fallen short but still it is better than all others in Nigeria. Lagos to me is a disappointment cause in 10 years it has received what no state in Nigeria have ever received, getting the 5th highest allocation from Govt. it internal revenue alone is 5 times Akwa ibom revenue, it also got Grants from World bank, IMF, AFDB, and even get to have Roads and infrastructures built by private individuals. If those are true then Lagos is a big disgrace to everything a city should be. You lagosians always deceive yourselves with this Mantra of "Lagos being the best city in Nigeria whose allocations are used efficiently" but when you compare all the amount of money Lagos receives and earn from Govt, Igr, Grants etc, then we see the Failure Lagos is. You keep talking about Populations but you forgot Delhi is more populated than Lagos, yet more developed and advanced. Same with New York etc. Akwa ibom is around 8 million people and Lagos as a whole is 20 million or less, but in 10 years Akwa ibom has done better and it doing better than Lagos State. by the way, Akwa ibom is time 3 of Lagos so has more places to develop, so don't bring that nonsense about Population again so I won't bring Landmass 5 Likes |

You can geopolitically call them North Central, if you like. They are quietly focused on growing and developing just as they should, regardless of the noise people like you make to cause divisions and distractions. Akwa Ibom and other states shouldn't depend on regional labels and other's wealth to thrive. We all need to focus on things that matter. Plead: 1 Like |

KingRabota: Yinmu. Abegi relax with the hype. While you are entitled to your opinion, my experience starkly contradicts yours. In my honest assessment of Uyo, I would describe it as a big village compared to even mid-level towns and cities in Nigeria, not to talk of major cities. Yes it is clean quite alright but it's sparsely populated and looks more like a big village in its layout and development (very unplanned and haphazard layout). Development goes beyond bridges and flyovers, I'm sorry to say. I was very disappointed during a very recent pre-Covid19 visit to the state. The drive from the airport to the heart of Uyo Town was very telling - - well paved roads with empty swats of land with poorly built houses all over the place. I was like wtf?? In spite of the flyovers and bridges there was little else on ground to support that the state is developed, and I am being brutally frank here coz I was actually expecting to be wowed based on prior commentaries I had heard that were similar to yours about Uyo. Compare Uyo to neighbouring PH that doesn't have as many relatively new bridges and flyover infrastructures, and you will understand what I mean when I call the town a big village - - too slow and uneventful for a state capital. I doubt the state's entire population will be more than 4-million, from what I experienced throughout my short stay in the town. The state government needs to urgently work on/concentrate more on its human capital development because I wasn't impressed with what I met on ground one bit, to put it mildly, considering all the 'oyel money' at its disposal. 8 Likes |

KingRabota: You don vex run? But 'as the ibo man wey you be' (to quote your earlier comment), you had no problem running down Lagos as a 'ghetto' among other expletives (as has become the past-time of you and your tribesmen), while carrying Uyo (that you're not even from) matter on your head like gala. Now you say the thread is 'somehow' and pick race simply because I contradicted your depiction of the subject matter. You people will never change. E dey your body. 5 Likes |

ODVanguard: You are obviously a hater. So in your mind, dense population is development? They drove u from the airport to the centre of the city? Where is the centre of the city? Plaza I guess. To imagine that Of all the people in this thread, it is only u that thinks that uyo is not beautiful calls your sanity to question. Do u even know what beauty is? What indices can u use to evauate the beauty of a city? Or U think everywhere should be roudy, noisy and busy like that place u are coming from? Let me even ask, Which state are u from sef? 5 Likes 1 Share |

ODVanguard:What is candid about your assessment? Bias assessment! Have you gone round Akwa Ibom State? The best beach in this country with well manicured green and golf course is in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State. The finest Stadium is in Uyo. Very well maintained tarred roads with good drainage system and street lights in tow. I don't want to mention the clean fresh water, security, the ambience or the side attractions like the people, the culture et al. You obviously expected to see filth, parked on the roads like is practiced in other cities in Nigeria. Pray tell, your state so we know how to respond. Next time, atleast have a fair knowledge of where you are assessing before you venture to display ignorance. That is me saying the least. 5 Likes 1 Share |
