I feel rental should remain same!!

I believe those wanting to invest right now or take up HP should rather hold on and see how things pan out.

Hmm... Keeping rental fees the same MIGHT be bad for both the owner and the driver.

The driver would most likely not be able to meet up his target which may lead to defaulting in payments and other stories.

For the car owner, wise drivers might just drop the cars which might lead to loss of revenue no matter how small.

As mentioned earlier, closing time would now be anytime before 8pm, no schools, churches, mosques and the likes, so fewer people going out. Most organisations like mine are going to be working in shifts as against what was obtained.

In the end, for those who must drive and are on rentals, the car owners should try to be reasonable and flexible till things get back to normal. A 40% reduction in rental fees would not be a bad idea. Anything short of that would be sheer slavery on the part of the drivers.

Hmmm
But patronage will be less na.

No more clubs, beaches, and funspots (Friday/Saturday/Sunday earnings might be poor)
No more religious gatherings(Sunday earnings might be poor)

Anyways, thanks smiley

From the look of things, demand will surely go up for essential goods and services, on that same curve supply will surely go up. With the curve the only thing is cash flow within the average class and the lower class..

For our e-hauling brothers and sisters believe it or not there is probability to be a rush for the two weeks, the curve is going to be unpredictable from an economist view. Hit the road and you will surely be surprise at how people are rushing like it's the end of the world to get to point A from point 0 and the will surely patronise you guys more than you can imagine.

What's your suggestion on what rental fee should look like this coming weeks?

Someone's on my neck. Abeg cry

And the person just buy the Tokunboh before lockdown start

Epp me abeg cry

If the car na fresh tokunbo.

Tell the guy to hold on the car for 3-4 weeks, to see the outplay of the market.

Cos if d guy launches now, the car will just take a beating for nothing.

The returns won't justify the rigour of Lagos roads. Traffic n all.

I intentionally avoided this thread last week because of the e-fights always going on. I checked on this thread 2 days ago hoping that what will be the fate of ehailing and weekly remittance regarding the curfew and partial lockdown lifting would be the topical issue here, but I was wrong. All is saw was USA and foreign politics argument.

No one even raised argument about the possibility of drivers getting exposed to COVID or how best one could stay safe.

Is foreign politics more important on this thread?

Like I said before, all I see here these days are fights of ego and hatred. Some unnecessarily attack others, some only show up when foreign politics are discussed.

Good luck to everyone.

Unpopular Opinion
Drivers get the better end of the partnership (financially), so they should sacrifice a bit now. I think rentals should remain the same (for now), if the situation keeps declining, then a review would definitely be in order.

Tell him...

Baba as a veteran I'd advise you keep the car a while or use 20k to test the waters. But note that you're taking any of the aforementioned choice as an independent agreement.

Because this one he's already on your neck. Before he reach your blok**

Yes I agree things could be tight for a while, however transportation sector is often one of the least hit sectors even in a recession after food.

It's going to be a win win at the end, cos market had been saturated before now and things need to shake up a little to achieve equilibrium, some would stay and some would def leave.

If the law on over crowding in commercial buses can be enforced,I see transport prices in that segment going up, cos the driver's need to make up for the unoccupied capacity hence people turning to e hailing, commercial buses will be worst hit.

Even with the lockdown, private cars could move around more easily than the buses.

If drivers could survive winter months,I don't see them not surviving this.

Things are not the way they used to be and you expect rental to still be the same ?
15 to 18k would be fine for now.
I so much love evening and night work.
I love seeing few cars on the road at night, no plenty lastma and police. You can get away with some mistakes at night and can also commit some deliberately just for the fun of it.

Good morning guys, I guess it's time we report to the Mods anyone that comes here to derail the thread again or we just ignore the person totally.

My Uber docs ( insurance expires in 3weeks, inspection has already expired) I dont even know if Uber inspection locations will be opened on monday. If you see anyone opened on the island pls mention me.

We are resuming on the 8th, so I have one week to test the waters again before my driver/partner comes to pick the car.

I think this week work will give a better understanding to know the right or reasonable weekly fare. Car owners should take note.

30k/25k weekly is impossible at this time let's not deceive ourselves.

Lekki flats have always been premium even when majority could not afford them, did the owners reduce rent? No

Central Lagos appartments have always been on the highside, have they all been empty? No

Air plane tickets have always been sold out despite many not being able to afford them locally, did airlines slash fares? No

The market will sell it self and transport business has always been a seller's market and not a buyer's one. Transportation is a need and not a want.

A week would not be enough to judge, especially not this coming week,as there would be lots of flunctuations and variables at play

You are correct... The truth is that these are all speculations. Things might turn out good or rough. Still, while things might be good for some, it might be bad for others. We just have to pray for the best and be prepared for the worst.

But drivers also do the greater part of the work.

Face greater risks too.

Yeah, I know partners pull in funds to get cars and all. But in case of fatalities, all d partner lose is d car.

The driver loses his life or maybe permanently disabled.

You have to look at it from both sides of the coin.

Transportation is about moving people/goods from one point to another. Remember that there is restriction of movement. Social activities no dey again, which also requires movement.
Some workers are working from home now and the ones that are going to work are not expected in full capacity, 60% at a time or so .
