Now in flagship category , I think , realme and vivo iqoo will provide better alternatives or even the honor brand , like the realme x2 pro which is sold for 130k with snapdragon 855 plus , insane 50+ volt of changing speed and a ton of pretty cool features .

I think realme and xiaomi has aced the mid-range and budget offering with their realme 5,6 offerings and xiaomi with their redmi note series ,

And now entry level this is basically a free for all , with each Chinese manufacturer trying to cannibalize the best effort of the other. Here is the only category where you can get a tecno device because nothing much is expected from said device .

My take is , tecno will always be here because of their immense marketing strategy, illiteracy of the majority of the populace , and the lack of any evident drive by another manufacturer well other than oppo to break into the Nigerian market.

The major gripes I have with all tecno products is

1 zero to no software updates , even in their adroid one and adroid go devices

2 ridiculous price per value of what is being offered

3 their choice of chipset

4 zero to none in terms of innovation

5 their use of social media influencers , spammers and those mad men who try to hype each and all of their offerings without any salient point ,

I wish anyone getting a tecno device best of luck , I haven't used any decent Chinese device except one letv and due to its affordability and overall feel and fluidity about 6 of my neighbors bought said device .

I wanted to get a xiaomi black shark 2 device but their lack of software update is the only issue I have with the device , but i might settle for a realme , honor or any other affordable product the next few weeks shall tell , and yes I've used a tecno camon c7 , infinix note 4 , my gf has used a note 5 and 6 I guess . But that's the last we're ever using any transion device and yes , I did buy that itel with a very big battery but with 1gig of ram swear I gave it out after a week same applies to the 14k itel my dad was misled to buy , I almost beat up the seller . Itel no just join with their speedthrum processor only God go punish all these people no offense .

Chai... That line got me... Good thing is, no worry God doesn't punish anyone. The sad thing is, many Nigerians are still facing these sad and unfortunate pains a lot of us have been freed from. Please spread this truth, warn everyone. Transision is not for any living soul. They are soul and happiness drainers.
Anyone who has used a Transission device will know what I am saying when I say this "No off am oh, e no go on easily".

The moment these brands came; Tecno got exposed for the fraud they were.
I used to harbor the idea that mtk devices can't get android update, until cubot, gionee and even micromax in India started doing it.
Gionee m5 till date is still regarded as one of the evergreens.
Lenovo k5 note had a lot of praises from the lips of users, even the LG k10 also had android users buzzing.

If there is any misconception or confusion clouding anyone's mind from focusing. It's clearly you, if you are so sure Tecno is here to stay, then don't mind when we expose the hiden disaster embedded in a Transission device.
If you are so sure of Tecno pulling the market, then continue to market these cheap scams you are trying to paint a smartphone and let us keep exposing the lie.

Then we see who prevails... Your deceit or Nigerians desire for great product.
We will see whose product last long in the market. If the like of lenovo couldn't push through so would others

What useless point? Coming online to spoil a brand?, creating thread on daily basis to kill a brand that took years to build or making sure a brand dies.? Same brand who came to the rescue of many poor Nigerians when the like of Samsung produced android for the rich?

Yeah, but if you looked, I wanted a level playing field.

All the processors there were almost at the same level of performance.

That A2 was just too low.

Let me break it down if it will assimilate into your prefrontal neurocortex.

Tecno and Infinix say that they are cheapest, note cheapest and most affordable smartphone vendors in Nigeria with a straight face in the same sentence. They also go further to claim that they give value for money.

If you did your research project by yourself, you'd understand that in the chapter one of a research, you'll see research aim. The aim of this research was to check and see if the above statement is true.

My method (standard chapter three) of any research was to juxtapose phones that are the same mobile tier of classification with Transsion's device and compare specs and price.

The results showed that they are neither the cheapest in the market, neither do they do they provide value for money (price: performance ratio).

You're the one being dramatic and crying. I have seen heavyweights that I trade tackles with. Infinix intellectuals on the Infinix thread that came to read and walked away. They made no comments. Zero.

Updated: Tecno Spark 5 has been announced with guess what?

A Helio A22.

Spark 3, 4 and 5 all carry the same Helio A22 entry level chipset. But they're getting increasingly expensive year by year. SMH

I just feel Tecno and Infinix are targeting a certain type of market. Their target market obviously knows nothing about processors and how they perform. That's why Tecno and Infinix keeps pumping up battery capacity and camera (which is very appealing to Nigerians) and ignoring the phone's performance.
They've got Nigerians by the balls that's why they can increase the price and the gullible ones will still buy( They've gained trust and they're cashing out with it).

By the time an average Nigerian knows about phone specs and vaule for money, believe me, Transission will think about doubling their game; until then, Helio A22 and 6000mah, all they way. grin

Midrange phone.

These are the phones that gives you the full smartphone experience with minimum lag and fuss. Games can be played on medium or even high settings sometimes. User experience is smooth and fluid.

Tecno: Pouvoir 3 plus. This powerhouse selling point is it's 6,000mAh battery. It comes with a budget Helio P22, 4/64GB of storage, 13mp selfie and a 13+8+2 triple rear camera set-up. It sells for 52k.

Infinix: S5 lite. The S5 lite like the base S5 and S4 comes with a Helio P22, a budget chipset. In essence they're all the same phone with different names. It also comes with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB ROM. It has a 32mp selfie and a 16+5+2+2mp Quad camera set up at the back. The battery capacity is 4000mAh. The price goes for 43k for the 3GB RAM model and 47k for the 4GB RAM model.

Xiaomi: Redmi Note 8. The RN8 is the first proper midranger on this list and it houses a Snapdragon 665 processor, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of ROM, a 13mp selfie and quad 48+8+2+2mp camera set up. The battery is 4000mAh. The price is around 64k

Nokia: Nokia 6.2. This is proper budget device running on Snapdragon 636, it has 3/4GB RAM and 32/64/128GB ROM. It has a triple camera set up of 16+8+5mp and a 8mp selfie. The battery is rated at 3,500 and the price is around 75k

Samsung: Galaxy A50. The best phone on this list. It ships with an Exynos 9610, 4/6GB RAM, 64/128GB ROM, 25mp selfie and a triple 25+8+5 rear set-up. The battery is called at 4,000 mAh and the price is 90k.

Umidigi: Umidigi power 3. This is also another battery power house at 6150mAh, it houses a Helio P60 chip, 4/64GB of storage, 16mp selfie and a Quad rear set-up (48+13+5+5mp). It sells for around 80k on Jumia.

Verdict. Tecno and Infinix do not have proper midrange phones. Their midrange offerings are actually budget phones and that they're overpriced for a budget phone but most people will think they're midrange phones and consider them cheap which is not the case. On the other hand the Umidigi, Nokia and Samsung are overpriced. This sets out the Redmi Note 8 as the clear victor with the Nokia 6.2 as the runner up.

*More detailed*

Not everyone has a college degree and the patience to read and understand a peer-reviewed styled article. I have written in a very simple manner that anyone can pick it up and understand it.

I do not owe you another detailed analysis. I have already drafted and submitted the research to the public. It's you who in fact owes us a proper rebate.

The fact that you have replied in this manner means you completely understand what I have written. The fact that you also have not resorted to semantics gives me reason to pat myself on the back because I have written and deleted several formats before ending on this one.

Since you're looking for details:

How can you justify Infinix selling the Zero 6 for 120k when the Nokia 6.1 (X6) with exactly the same processor (the Snapdragon 636) is sold for 65-70k?

This Zero 6 is currently Infinix's best device on the market. Put this into perspective, the Redmi Note 7 with a more superior Snapdragon 660 and superior cameras with a USB C port was sold for 66k market launch price. The Redmi Note 8 with even more superior cameras was sold cheaper than 66k. Evrn the Samsung A50 with an even more superior SoC than both Redmi Note phones with a super Amoled display sold for less than the Infinix Zero. A Transsion product!

Here's more details for you.

The Tecno Camon 15 Premier is released for 95k, with fake cameras and a Helio P35. P35 does not support 64mp resolution cameras. See phones that are built with the same chip sells for a lesser price and gives more quality e.g Umidigi power, Huawei Y6, Oppo A8, Oukitel K9, Samsung Galaxy A21 etc all sell for cheaper rates. They offer more value for money.

The new Redmi Note 9S and the new Samsung Galaxy A51 are both faaaaaaar superior and sell for a less expensive rate considering the better processors, build, class, prestige, glass, cameras etc that they ship with. In fact, if I had extra change, I would pick the A70 or the Mi 9T over this Camon 15 Premier.

That's the crux of the argument. Stop selling propaganda. Transsion are not the cheapest in the market. That's all they have left in their arsenal and that too is a lie. They should price their devices accordingly.

Everyone does Price skimming. Here's one I can personally verify. I bought a Tecno Pouvoir 2 in 2018 for 44k, a year later it was still sold for 42k. I bought my Redmi Note 7 (4/64) for 66,900, a year later it was sold for 57k before the Naira crash.

Tell me, which one gives a better example of price skimming.

Absolutely. A friend of a thief is one who defends a known thief and benefits from the spoils of banditry.

To see this clearer, look at Buhari and Abacha. Buhari (Mr Integrity) defended Abacha for more than 10 years that he did not steal. Yet Abacha's loot is returning from all over the world.
