Hello guys,

How safe is Ikorodu in recent times? Is it a safe place to move to, or does one need to constantly watch over one's shoulders?
And the road network, electricity?
Re: How Safe Is Ikorodu In Recent Times by Nobody: 5:08pm On Jan 17, 2019
Don't go there if you don't want the skulls of you and your family mined like iron ore. grin

Back in the days, about 15 - 20 years ago, Ikorodu used to be a haven of Ritualist Den, and while it is true that some of these dens have been cleared out, some are still operational.

Mind I ask how life is there? Do you have super malls around? And electricity supply? And how is the traffic for one who is mobile - would it be best to drive or take commercial? Do the services of ISPs like Spectranet get there? I know I have a lot of questions, I am considering relocating to the location, and I am not familiar with it at all.

It depends on the location you are staying, just like Nigeria as a whole. The outskirts of Borno is a death trap but the city itself is relatively safe.. Security in Nigeria is a big joke, this is not the US undecided

Generally, you enjoy life in Lagos when you're loaded with cash. . Super malls?? I can't say. . But there are malls sha. . Banks are a major problem though!! They have been localised to Ikorodu garage mostly.

If you have a car, i'd advise you to drive, but if you don't, what choice do you have??

Yes, there is spectranet, swift etc but I'm not totally sure about their coverage.

Electricity Supply is fairly good around Ikorodu Central. . But going to places that are closer to Egbin power plant eg Itamaga, gbaga, electricity supply is well above average although I only visit there once in a while..

You should get more info before relocating though. .

Wish I could contact you off Nairaland to consult on other things. Especially the location of real estate properties being offered to me by agents. Electricity and security is a big concern.

Please, what’s your take on Odogunyan in Ikorodu. Small London estate in Odogunyan precisely. Is the area OK, with fairly motorable roads (roads don’t have to be perfect) and electricity supply?
Thank you.

If you have to advice between Odogunyan, CPI, and Ijede road, which would you recommend?

Op follow busar advice. Don't make the mistake of going to deep in ikorodu like ijede,Maya, odogunyan, ogijo, isawo e.t.c you will regret it . In terms of traffic.
and too much crowd.

Ikorodu is good place to live and to train your children.

am based in ikorodu presently and it's very ok and safe asides the traffic hitch which the only alternative be is ferry.

Areas like ebutte, agric, Lagos road, solomade itamaga, ijede, igbogbo enjoy light . access to basic amenities too.

i have been living in ikorodu since 2006 till date

supermalls like JUST RITE, GROCERY BAZAAR, and other mini stores. are available

electricity supply is very ok especially in areas like itamaga, ebutte, ijede,Lagos road area

traffic depends on ur time of departure and how urgent ur appointment is. An alternative is either ferry or BRT. especially for those going to the islands.

WiFi connection depends on ur area;,swift and mobile internet works perfectly depending on ur preference.

ikorodu is affordable ,safe and accessible. safety is only in God's hands.

wuld give u the agents contact who got my apartment for me if u ar intrested. give him ur specifications and budget of what u want but u may eventually have to make urself available to see things for urself if the agent has what u want.

be careful of agents because some end up re renting an apartment already taken or uncompleted and u wunt be able to get ur Full money back. don't pay under pressure .make sure the apartment is given to u from the right source.

odonduyan has crazy traffic especially during festive periods because of the bad roads and vehicles take same route to ogun state.its congested.

@ Realtalk19, thanks for the cool information you are dropping on this thread.

What do you think of Salabo and Imota in Ikorodu? Is Salabo a good area of Ikorodu to live in? How about Imota where Caleb University is located? I have some business concerns in these areas I have mentioned. Are the roads in Salabo and Imota in Ikorodu motorable? Are these places developed? Do they have electricity there? Please let me hear from you. Thanks.

For work, I telecommute, so my concern is stable electricity. And good roads for the occasional outing. How do those areas fare when it comes to electricity?

Problem is, I am contacting agents who post listings on Jiji and OLX since I don’t know anyone there.
Which area would you recommend? I would be working from home (telecommuting), so I won’t be going out much, just for shopping and such.
Electricity is what I desperately need. And fairly good roads when I have to go out. I’m mobile too.

I'll appreciate that - the agent's contact.

I don’t know if he is lying, but the agent insists the road in odogunyan is being fixed, and the electricity is one of the best in Ikorodu. What do you think?
And is Ijede and Ijede road the same thing?

ijede is different from ijede road but they use same power plant which is based at ijede.

odonguyan road for now is bad and still under construction which there is gridlocks and constant traffic especially during raining period.

i would suggest itamaga, idiroko, ewu elepe, Awolowo way, itokin road, low cost area.

agents number: Mr lala- 0809 851 7619

his office is located at grammar school juction, oke-ota on, ikorodu.
