The support staff of Kaduna refining and petrochemicals company a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has just sacked about 200 support staff on 31 march 2020 without proper consultations.

Just at the time, the support staff are expecting their jobs to be regularised having served the corporation for several years ranging from 10-15 years in the production and maintenance departments of the refinery with meager salaries without Hazard or Medical allowances and made to work under hard condition over the years.

The disengagement has come after been deprived of participation in the just concluded recruitment exercise which criteria was not favorable to most of them and in other to pave the way for the newly intake the exit door was shown to the vast experienced staffs.

Precisely on the 4th and 5th of November 2019 an oral interview and verification exercise was conducted which rekindle the hope of these hard-working staffs that better days are ahead, only to be shocked by the directive from their management that their contract should the terminated with an outrageous severance package.

The entire support staff of KRPC is calling on the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the NUPENG to come to their aid at this time when the whole world is ravaged with the COVID-19 pandemic to see that their source of livelihood is protected by the virtue of been financial members of the NUPENG and in the spirit of INJURY TO ONE IS INJURY TO ALL.

We are also calling on the President of the Faderal Republic of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) and the honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Silva to use their respected offices to prevail over the action of the management of the
NNPC. Going by the directive of Mr president that no worker should lose their job at this time of this coronavirus pandemic.

I spoke to a senior friend who is a staff on Sunday,and he told me he would find out from a senior colleague of his as regarding the EH cadre and let me know on Monday..I didn't speak to him until a few minutes back and he said he hasn't called the person,that I should hold on let him just find out and call me back..he actually called me back now and said his colleague said they were actually supposed to issue out letters before this covid lockdown affected things..and I remember some of you were consistent saying before GTs resume EH will roll out,I guess you were right after all..so he said his colleague told him it's only the GTs for now doing their virtual stuffs and that there are spaces to be filled..
So guys let's be hopeful and pray for a favourable outcome..peace...

Where did you get your info that the corporation is overstaffed? And where did you hear that refinery staff were redeployed? What we have so confirmed is that there have been Mass sacking of refinery staff. This is the fact we have on ground pls

The mass sack was specific to contract staff. They are not in direct employment of the corporation. The permanent staff under direct payroll of NNPC are the ones that have been redeployed back to HQ i.e sent to pool to be assigned new roles according to him
