Spec7:
killing a business because it disobeyed your rules is out of place and insane, the hotel can be sued, fined, sealed, there are other measures to punish hotel or people, so if a person should flout the lockdown order, will the governor order that the person be killed?

Don't be surprised that it will soon get to that.

Okay. I stand corrected but does that include hotels like Hotel Presidential?

Exactly! Because that hotel is in active operation. The guests? Govt officials and oil company workers.

All these people condemning what Wike did are typical of the reason Nigeria is the way it is. It is very sad that in Nigeria people don't really know or understand what these words mean: "Law" "Rules/Regulations" and "Order".
Here in the west that you guys always adore and want to migrate to by all means, if the law says assault is punishable by minimum of 5 years imprisonment, even if you are the Army Chief of Staff and you slap someone or assault anyone, it is guaranteed that you do at least 5yrs jail time. If the law states that if you wrongfully park your vehicle there, that you will pay a minimum of 200£ fine, try it and you will be lucky to pay 450£. This is because not just that you broke the law but how long you wrongfully parked will come into play. Note, they will call you sir with a bold smile on their face while dishing out these penalties. Like "here's your ticket Sir/Ma'am" smiley

That is why there is order here. What is written is written. Get that my people.

I stand with Wike.

To me all these are extreme measures. Always surprise the way you people hail him.

There are other measures to take. This is pure wickedness.
those other measures are part of the reasons Nigeria is the way it is. We always believe there are other ways of circumventing law and order which encourages us not to do the right thing. After all, there must be a way out. In turn, the law enforcers capitalize on those other options which equates to bribery and corruption.
Gush we don't just get it in that part of the world. Please don't EVER teach your children or younger ones around you that there are other measures to adopt when they disobey law and order because the absolute truth is, there is none. Crime attracts punishment.

The idiotic governor is not even wearing his mask properly. Power drunk lunatic, how did we get here in this country? Pure wickedness, even nations that has thousands of death didn't act to these extend. People should be allowed to go get food and essential supplies, in as much as they are putting on proper PPE and maintaining social distancing. What happen to fines or closure for violation. Nigeria is so backward, it's unbelievable. We keep retrogressing.

I don't disagree with you that crime attracts punishment. The question is which crime and what punishment. Without matching crime with the required punishment, justice is defeated. If its so extreme, tyranny become activated. Again, never think the reason Nigerians disobey law is because they are not extreme. The reason is simply because we don't enforce it. Its nice he sealed the hotel. But what about billing them 1million naira. You think it will not send shock waves in the body of future defaulters? People will obey any law if you go about enforcing it. Just make sure you put up reliable mode of enforcing it. He would have just announced they will pay 1million naira within 2 days or get it demolished. If they fail, then demolish it.

I’ve noticed some Nigerians have a problem where th is concerned. It’s tread & not thread which has a different meaning. Another one I see often is thought & taught.

Wike's order is illegal.

It's only the legislature that can make laws and stipulate punishment. It is the consensus legal opinion that the punishments in wike's executive order is not according to to the quarantine law, and the state legislature has not ammended it to reflect wike order. It is illegal. Executive is not empowered to make law, judge, and execute.

This response is not really for you but for the record as you are probably a paid troll just doing your job.

Igbo man stop spilling trash, you don’t know anything about Igbo abandon properties in Rivers state. You igbos where in charge of Old Eastern region, use that opportunity to rename our communities, and brought biafra against our wish, killed a lot of our people because we refused to be part of your biafra and now you’re crying forgetting your wicked actions against Ikwerre people, and other parts of Niger delta especially calabar massacre by biafran soldiers.

The Gov. warned, he will demolish any hotel that goes against the order of the govt and he did the right thing because the management of that hotel is a saboteur, and a threat to the life and properties of Rivers people. I don’t care if the property belongs to Ikwerre man or any other tribe in Nigeria. It is a good example to others, the rest hotels will all close down with this example.

The crude, crass, thuggish and overfed bloviating buffoon was protecting life and properties while at the same time destroying the same properties he was supposed to be protecting.

Where is the sense and wisdom in that?

See how senseless and upside down you sound?

Wike might be constitutionally right, yes....but that would have to be if he's exercising the powers granted him by either the Vietnamese, Cuban, North Korean or Chinese constitutions. As long as he is& remains a constitutionally empowered governor in a constitutional entity as Nigeria, he is bound(hands& feet) by the provisions of the Nigerian constitution. Whatever law, order, act or decree that may arise as a result of exercise of your constitutional powers, it has to be in accordance with the Nigerian constitution. Wike might not have flouted the provisions of the Vietnamese, Cuban, North Korean or Chinese constitutions, but to a VERY GREAT extent, Wike has flouted the provisions of the Nigerian constitution.
