The above is not the problem with Wike. I feel it is in times like this, that we need those who can wield and exercise their power. We are in very desperate times and no more than in desperate time are desperate measures needed. In some States, Dangote trucks are used to import the viruses. We must be watchful and pray for a governor like Wike. If we had him as president, he'd stopped the virus from flying in. If the south west had him, they'd shut all the exits from Lagos and probably have lesser cases... Wike is signalling to the powerful and those held high, that the life of his people matter; and it would not be traded as is done in Kano and other states, for the economic benefit of a certain few.

Very soon all of us will be saying how good Canada and Dubai is, all because everyone obey the Laws of the land no matter ur status but here in Nigeria Laws are for some certain individual. y dint other hotels flout the government order

Did I say that the operators of the hotel should not be punished?

You've mentioned Canada and Dubai. Would they demolish a hotel that flouts a lockdown order?

Is it not even better to get a judgement to forfeit the hotel, if possible? Why demolish?

Who is begging Wike not to demolish. Go ahead and demolish and see what will come out of it. Nonsense! That Tramadol will clear from your eyes.

why not just shut-down the hotel instead of demolishing. Then make them pay heavy fines to reopen when covid pandemic is finally dealt with. It shouldn't just be about yielding political power with ur big head & stomach, pls think economic & environmental impact also.

This is certainly the right way to go . . .I can bet you those hotels will not be demolished because even the rampaging lion called Wike knows the implication . . .and if he eventually carries out his threat . . .the owners should meet him in court and you will see how much the state will pay in damages .

That's the big question . . .he has no right to demolish those hotels, if he does then the state will pay when the matter gets to court.

To me why should a hotel be demolished for flouting a lockdown.

Do u know how many people are homeless as a result of this lockdown, a lot of people are stranded plus trapped in a state where they have no accommodation. Then the governor shuts down hotels where else do u want them to go?

Exactly.

People need to be wise in using power.

The building can be used for so many things in the event that the operators are guilty.

The state government is the prosecutor and the judge.

The hotel owner will sue Wike and win.

The funny thing is that it's Rivers state money that will be used to rebuild the hotel and pay damages for lost business and psychological devastation

So, Rivers people should speak against this abuse of power on time smiley cool

Wait o...what kind of logic is this sef?

Why not prosecute the operators of the hotel? Why demolish?

So if Presidential Hotel on Aba road opens, you will demolish it?

How will the hotel win when he made the warning earlier?

Yes indeed.
Anyway, the state is rich enough to pay such huge compensations; perhaps that is why he feels he can be the law unto himself.
