Well, I'm also waiting for Zenith at N5 and GTB at N7 or even 20kobo( grin ). However, note that before this scenario plays out, some of us would have increased our cash reserves and join the #CashIsKing geng later in the year. cool
While they were kinging with their cash we were accumulating DangCem from Km 118. By June we’ll cash out in dividends and capital appreciation.
Men have done about 2-rounds of 10-10% in GTB and Zenith since April.
Well, if you choose to be in this market the two things you need to balance are Fear and Greed.

It all depends on your plan.
Mine is to collect the dividend and thereafter transfer my kaya to the long termers.
But 140 is a good buy in my opinion, we expect the stock to trade above 170 by next week.
CAVEAT: this is not a buy/sell recommendation.

its either they need money urgently or they have seen something that is really scary. But make no mistake, UACN's and its subsidiary's numbers have been going down yearly.

Cash is King and will always be king. The cash can be in highly liquid asset, or cash flow from income generating assets. Cash is King does not mean you won't buy investments or income generating assets.

Ability of the investment or asset to generate steady cash will be the basis of committing funds

They need an Indian CEO in First Bank, he will save costs. I won't be surprised if he gives us a profit after tax of N300 billion from the over N600 billion revenue of First Bank. That will be an EPS of about N8.00.

First Bank is too wasteful with resources and opportunities.

A lot of banks GTB, Zenith inclusive are praying to have the opportunities and customer loyalty of First Bank

True sir.

But, cash is king advocates here are recommending that you sell all your portfolio and hold cash. That u will still buy Zenith at 9 soon in the year.

you know that will never happen. FBN is an heritage of our financial system and the national pride to have it manned by a Nigerian is ingrained int he fabrics of the bank's culture.

I agree with you that financial recklessness and gross inefficiency is clutching the bank's ability to take back its position as true market leader in the banking industry. To achieve this feat, the board needs some serious rejigging.

Pa Emma, may you live long for NSEMPA and Tbills followers. I clearly understand your point. My argument is that it has become a cliché among some investors who now quote it in defence of their action and inaction.

Your assets and Investments will respond and adjust to inflation and currency devaluation and cough out higher cash.

You should be worried if they are dumping shares into the market. Cross trades between investors at the market price shouldnt be cause for alarm

Asset value can grow above inflation if properly positioned, but cash will not.

This can ONLY be FEASIBLE if some of one ASSETS and INVESTMENTS are in FOREX else OYO.

BARGAIN HUNTERS TAKE NOTE!

That still doesn't negate the fact that having cash that can last you for 6 months of your expenses and having a steady cash generating assets and Investments which you can always reinvest on a regular basis is King.

Most investments requires time to appreciate or give returns, if you are not liquid you will sell too soon and regret if the same Investment now give an upside returns of 80% or more 6 months after you have sold.

Cash gives an investor the staying power and ability to buy in a down market because the market won't be down for ever

Yes it is important to have cash for regular operations and expenses .

But the value of cash is in it purchasing powers.

Investments can close that gap by generating profits.

Any investment with 15% -20% in short-term will beat inflation.
