Thank you. I hope people get inspired and know that they can achieve anything they want, no matter who you are and what you have right now. It is possible.

I was bullied all my life by family and friends, dem beat me tire, they even called me a snail because I was so slow. But my behavior was a result of the bullying and abuse. My parents said I would never amount to nothing. I’ve seen hunger, I’ve cried. There were days I would wake up and wish I had died in my sleep.

It took me 2 years of planning to leave Nigeria. I saved every naira, got information, and never gave up. I got rejected by 27 schools and never stopped trying. I didn’t even know anybody in Europe but I knew I would survive.

I was 26yrs when I left Naija. Now I’m 32+ and I’m a man of my own. I pay my bills, travel the world and can do anything I want. All the people that bullied me, now they look up to me. Nothing happens in my family unless I give my opinion. That “snail” has become a leader, by God’s grace. So I hope people reading this can know that they can do it. Whether abroad or in Nigeria.

Instead of spending time on Linda Ikeji blog arguing and cursing Bobrisky, use that data and time to research how you can achieve things. I will do my best to share all the information I can with you guys. Thank you and stay positive.
Thanks you so much for this bro, I really appreciate your words.

Daniel please, I've got a question. Let's say, I run a very lucrative blog here in Nigeria, and I plan on migrating to Germany as a student. Does that mean I have to give up on the blog or continue my blogging activities to make extra cash as a student?

You can run your blog and make money from it. If you make enough income above €500 from it, you have to pay taxes. Otherwise nobody cares. Just don’t call it freelancing or a business, because that would affect your student status. In Germany it is not always about what you do but what you call it.

I don’t think Germans would refer to anyone who didn’t go to University as a “high school dropout”. Education in Germany is free but it is also compulsory to a certain level. If a child is not going to school or misses school, the authorities will be alerted.

Their junior education system is broken down into 3 categories. “Gymnasium” for the smart kids who are good enough to attend University, “Realschule” for the average kids who will fit into white collar jobs, and “Hauptschule” for the not so smart kids who will fit into learning a trade/craft and blue collar jobs. They all have some level of education, regardless. Homeschooling is also not allowed in Germany.

That’s also why in your class at University, you’ll be wondering why everyone is so smart, even the ones who look unserious. Even the ones who don’t attend class, they will dust you during exams.

That being said, I don’t know the percentage of “non University degree holders”. Everyone has a level of education, no one “drops out”.
Good day bro
Seeking you advice on this, for us that are yet to get to Germany, but we are slightly below average students... what would be your advice for us on the kind of education we can apply for in Germany... they say a masters program is very tough

Is 10-€20k enough to start a profitable business in Germany?

Is German language necessary for Ausbildung?

lolz. I meant permanent residency in the us
If you have a valid residence permit in Germany, whether as a student, refugee, or whatever means, you are entitled to a 2 year USA visitors visa when you apply for it as a Nigerian. Ghanaians get 5 years.

All you have to do is fill and submit the form online, pay visa fees and go for interview/fingerprint. You don’t even need bank statement or proof of income. You only have to attend the interview with your passport.
They will tell you right there after your interview if your visa has been approved. Then they send it to your house with your passport in 3 working days.

I don’t know if you can find a job with a US tourist visa or get permanent residency or whatever. I’m not familiar with USA visa regulations.

You can also apply for a UK visa. Fill the form, print out, pay visa fees and take your documents (including proof of income) to the UK visa center in Dusseldorf or Berlin. They don’t ask any questions and they don’t give a damn. All they do is take your fingerprints and send your documents to the UK office. The UK office makes the decision.

If you’re approved, you get a 6 month UK tourist visa. If you want longer, there’s an application for that. If you’re a student, you’ll surely get the visa, unless somebody do you juju or you don’t fill the form correctly. If you lie in your application, you can get banned for 10 years. If you were rejected, they will also tell you if you can appeal or not.

Canada is the same as USA, you get 2 years if you’re approved. Only difference is, there’s no interview for Canada. Application is like UK visa. They fingerprint you and send your documents to Vienna for decision. You also need to show bank statements or proof of income.
Canadian embassy are scammers and idiots. They mostly deny visas with stupid excuses and take your visa fees. They will soon get sued.

Good luck.

You really have to make effort to read. The questions you’re asking are available on this website. Don’t just ask lazy questions as if someone is paid to answer you.

Ausbildung is easier for people who are in Germany already and have residence permit that is not a student permit. If you’re a student in Germany, you are not eligible for Ausbildung.
If you’re applying from outside Germany and would need a visa, the company you’re applying to would have to prove that no German or EU citizen wants the position. That’s your only chance for getting a visa, which is almost impossible.
Yes, you need German language for it.

If your education is below average, you stand no chance for a Masters program. I would assume you at least passed your WAEC and have a secondary school certificate. You can apply for undergraduate studies in Germany instead. Most Universities require German language for Bachelors.

I don’t know how much you need to start a business. Maybe someone else can answer that.

If you guys notice, I try to answer your questions extensively with even more information than you asked for. That is because I don’t want people to ask the same questions again and again or be confused by anything.

Pls it would help if you took time to read my comments, before asking a question that has already been answered, or that you can easily google. Now I sound like a German, I know but let’s help each other.

Plus I hear Turkish and Polish population in Germany are ridiculously high

Oh talk about those Indian and Pakistani students, they are so annoying!! It’s like their families would disown them if they didn’t pass an exam or come out the best. They are even more annoying when you live with them in a Studentenwohnheim. I will save a topic for them.

Now that you mentioned it, I also remember that I had some racist professors. One day, one professor used Africa as a stupid example in his lecture and I challenged him. The class froze that day. I didn’t give a damn. I stood up and told him to never say that again. I can’t remember what exactly he said. I still passed the course, of course he wouldn’t dare fail me.

The way they teach is also confusing as hell. It’s like they already expect you to know it. You’d be ashamed to ask questions sef. I had to tell one professor to slow the fvck down. The thing is, they are not used to people correcting them or complaining. You know Germans are like sheep. They suffer in silence. You can also report a professor if you feel you’ve been unfairly treated.
This is not Nigeria where the professors will hate you because you reported one of them.

I also did not take a lot of exams on purpose because I wanted to extend my visa. As long as you have some courses to complete, even if your residence permit expires, you can extend it. Some cities give 2 extra years, and some give 1 year. Some students, even after 2 extra years, they still won’t complete their studies and they get 1 extra year. So you could end up spending 5 years on a 2 year master program.
Am loving Germany already

Don't just know the theoretical aspect, grind yourself, and learn the practical aspect, build something, no matter how small. Those where the mistake I made in Nigeria.

My advice will be to know your strengths and build on them. Any STEM course is marketable as long as you know what you are doing.
...
That is the spirit. I keep telling folks that if peradventure you find yourself learning / studying a STEM course DONT and I repeat DONT based only on theory, but imbue yourself doing practicals. You learn better that way.
When you do something you learn best, because in future you remember that you did that thing, and you might even remember how you did.
Many of my Programmer friends on GitHub and BitBucket are self taught, and these guys are churning out amazing codes.
..
It is good to have general knowledge, but it BEST to specialize your knowledge, because when you specialize your knowledge, you know what tools, programming language(s), software frameworks to use.
..
Another thing I recommend is to participate in Open Source(GitHub / BitBucket), write a blog on your skills, attend conferences, participate in hackathons, if possible take algorithmic contests.
..
You get jobs easily, and it also helps with your portfolio.
..

UrFears:
True Talk. So I have been checking out MSC courses on some Germany uni websites randomly, trying to compare there course Modules with what am doing here. Good thing is that some terms I see there are familiar to what am studying here, which is quite cool; I'm currently in my finals. So terms like Data structures & Algorithm, computational techniques, system Analysis, Expert System & AI, OOP, etc. I know about them theoretically but not Practically. Also, so far we did programming courses on Visual Basic, C++, C#, Phython, Java and Assembly Language, which I also know theoretically and a bit Practically cheesy.
And as a Good Nigerian Student that I am, it's to buy em' Lecturers assignment manuals, do and pass them back, then buy their textbooks, read from intro to finish and pass their exams grin, no one is going to ask you something that is not from their textbook. (As that's the system of Education in Nigeria angry). Imagine we don't even have a CSC lab, and em' NACOSS students ain't complaining, they are more interested in school politics.

Buh I know those courses are not thought same way in a more developed country like Germany. Meanwhile between MSC in main CS and Msc in Informatics, which is better, in terms of job prospects. I saw the courses on informatics are more mental friendly than main CS grin.
..
I feel you bro, that is Nigeria for you, we base on theory with less practical.
..
If I were you I would go to Amazon and buy books to learn these programming languages(which is good), or if you are a visual person, you can learn on YouTube or Twitch.

After that I would recommend that you start writing code ASAP, you can learn how to write Fibonacci Series, palindromes, sorting and searching algos and just about any code that comes to your head. You can write a simple calculator program.
After that, go to GitHub and clone as much codes as you can clone and try to rebuild your own version of that code from scratch. With time your will very good that you will be contributing to that code on the open source. (When I was learn C, I cloned the GNU Debugger, I took out a part of the program that does stepping through code, I read and tried to understand it . That made me understand C better, and made me build a simple version of the code steeper for myself).
..
You might necessarily not need to wait for a CS lab, just try get a laptop / computer, get a good internet connection, and last but not the least have a passion and drive to learn. (I tell people that Smart Work + Hard Work + Determination (including commitment and passion to learn) = success).
..
Brother, virtually all STEM course / degree is very lucrative. You just have to know your onion very well.
Once you've chosen a specialty, know that specialty to the zenith.
Last but not the least have fun while learning, have a purpose for learning and have a drive to learn and please stay commited to the process.
..
Las Las we go dey alright.
