OBAGADAFFI:You don't JIJO with banks especially when bought low during the period of panic. People had the courage to buy during maximum panic. Why can't they hold when the panic has gone? I think it has to do with the conflicting messages coming out from NSEMPA. ![]() |

Many people are hoping that the unbundling process of UACN from the loss making Property division will turn around the misfortune of this once a profit making company. In equity investment, the winner of yesterday and today might not be a winner tomorrow. Many investors has been trapped in the unrealistic expectations that UACN will reach the sky high price of the past based on speculations. For the record, this company has PE ratio of negative. _2.16 A negative P/E ratio means the company has negative earnings or is losing money. ... Investors buying stock in a company with a negative P/E should be aware that they are buying shares of an unprofitable company and be mindful of the associated risks. There is no change in management, same people that grounded UACN are still in charge. It was not because of bad Nigeria economy that made UACN earns a negative PE value, coz most of their products are highly essential and household in nature . If there is any company in the world that should thrive in a depressed Nigeria economy, it should be UACN. This is no longer the UACN handed over to Oloye Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan by the British. For the record, UACN was once the largest conglomerate in sub Sahara Africa. The unbundling might not change the misfortune. UACN has done several unbundling in the last 3 decades. The listed, unlisted, delisted, equity stake, and joint venture entities are numerous. Livestock CAP UPDCREIT UAC-P PORTLAND Paint MR Biggs UAC foods UAC restaurants MDS LOGISTICS GRAND CEREALS LTD Gm nig UNIC UAC diaries General cotton meals Unico cpfa Spring waters Famous brands Warm spring water Nigeria Despite the aggressive diversification, UACN has not brought profits nor a smile at investors in the last 10 years. The crises started in 1998 and investors have been very optimistic that things will turn around, rather it gets worse everyday. The initial expectation was that by year 2000, the stage by stage management approach would have yielded profits but it never. It will be a big decision to invest or not in a company based on old glory(past performance) and speculation of positive expectations from unbundling. I do not see a worthy risk investing in UACN. The company might turn a winner tomorrow if only the canker worms, the moth and caterpillars eating investors profit are taken out. There is no crime if dz company is trading at N1000+/unit. However the reverse is the case. I will not be surprised if there is further dumping in the coming days. Watch out. The dumpers are the insiders, the caterpillars that brought one of the most diversified companies in Nigeria and sub Sahara Africa to a negative PE value. NB.... This is my view. I inherited 100,000+ units of UACN. |

RabbiDoracle:My Oga I will buy... May be after all the Q2 result is out I will cherry pick ![]() By then some of the $ I bought will be converted to Naira and invested back inside NSE |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 9:19am On May 15, 2020 |
stcool:Initially you said Q1 results will be bad. It turned out good for some and flat for others. Now you don shift the goal post go Q2. ![]() If Q2 is bad, investors know the reason and I believe (being forward thinking), they must have anticipated that around February 2020 and sold off so that the price they buy will factor in the fall in earnings. And that selloff happened in March 2020 potentially pricing in all events, IMO. |

RabbiDoracle:I want to see the companies that would be resilient in Q2 and how market reacts. Also it would less talk about dividend after Q2 result, but more of strong balance sheet. I hope to get a good bargain. |
