@ Lexusgs430 is not only back, he is cracking us up.

Only a matter of time, @sgtponzihater will be back.

justwise:
Bros i think you should read inbetween the lines here, she doesn't want you to come to the UK and she doesn't want to return to Nigeria either, she only want to be visiting you and you are here asking questions about the UK vs Nigeria?

Ok lets just pretend as if we don't know that this marriage is in ICU.

200K is not enough to start comparing the UK to Nigeria because cleaners makes more than that and still enjoy 'free heath care' live in a relatively safer environment, uninterrupted power supply, good roads..etc

My neigbour works with Amazon and he gets about 206 hours holiday, 40-50 hours emergency holiday(go home anytimie you want paid) and 6 weeks paid sick leave a year.

6 weeks paid paternity leave, private medical benefit, career choice benefit..basically if he wants to leave Amazon they will help him to get trained for another career and you can leave at the end. If you worked there for one full year as a permanent staff and want to leave you will be given £1500 and more than that if you have worked longer.

You need no qualification to get all these and he works 4days in and 3days out weekly.

During this coronavirus problem he got 12weeks paid leave, this is not from his statutory leave allowance.

You can compare the UK to Nigeria on individual bases because there are Nigerians who are doing very well than many us here but as a system as whole..you can't compare night and day.
Ok lets just pretend as if we don't know that this marriage is in ICU. :- bros I am hoping not at all. Since she got this indenfite leave last year she has bin acting strange, all plans still hanging to join her.

You can compare the UK to Nigeria on individual bases because there are Nigerians who are doing very well than many us here:- please why do you say so that most Nigeria are doing very well than some of u guys in UK? I taught the UK have every good thing in place and their money is strong and their pay is higer than we in Nigeria. Most bankers I know in Nigeria are earning very good money compare to bankers in the UK, please why? Thank you for your response.

Oga your wife has found someone else. Simple as ABC. If I were you I'd take a leave from work to go and live with them for a while. If everything is fine then you can stay back. Else just carry your kaya and stay in Naija. Cheers
If everything is fine then you can stay back

How can I stay back without papers. Can I stay in the UK with visiting visa but, immigration will catch me. Is there any other way I can stay legal pls

Sorry but this is sending off red flags..did she start complaining like this when she got her residency and not before? huh
She was complaining small before but as soon as she got her papers her complaints became too much. Giving execuses that I have to wait again for her to start work all over came. Last year she did alot of agency job as self employed to enable her come bk to Nigeria, then make application. She keep telling me she transfer from self employed to permanent job. I told her she can use the both, she refused. angry

Oh really? Please enlighten me..which state did it or federal government handouts, apart from the northern states where they gave cash handouts initially and couldn't follow up..? mind you, food stuff is different from money.. in Lagos, for example, most of the food items were given by individuals and not fed. govt... I don't know of other states, so maybe you can enlighten me on that as well: - Here in Lagos where I live in my LGA, they shared rice for us and plenty bread from the government. They really tried. To be honest many area got things from the government

and you said 200k is plenty money here.. well, it depends on where you live in Nigeria... in Lagos, that money is not much..by the time you pay house rent sef for one room self contained, how much is left? :- we only pay a year. But, in UK u guys pay monthly. My leave allowance and 13th month is enough to pay my house rent for a year. if it is in other states apart from Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.. maybe like Kogi, Ondo, etc where the cost of living is minimal, then yes, that amount is big... and nowadays which job and company is permanent and dependable.. even the oil sectors have been laying off staff in recent years because of fall in oil prices and banking sector too has suffered..the ripple effect extended to real estate sector, where people are unable to buy houses as much as they did in the past..even to get mortgage is now a problem.. the investment areas of stock market, mutual funds etc have all dropped in value with low interest.. so tell me how comparable both countries are?

Talking of certificate, I thought you had a university degree, isn't that a certificate? I don't understand..I am a bit confused now with your responses.. do you teach? are you ready to learn? Yes I have a certificate in German language but, I can't use it in uk. As I was told that our certificate is not recognised in UK. Are u looking for other careers you could fit into that would help you when you join her there? I am looking at nursing but, I need a degree for it. As I hear that nursing fetches money. I was told I will start with auxiliary nurse right?
Anyway congrats on your wife getting her papers, it makes things easier... like I said previously, you can go visit her and take time to understand the environment. What your wife has, is what a lot of people are working towads getting, so please utilise it wella... Thank you.

I’m not in the UK but would like to chip in a few things based on the information you provided.

Bro, what are you doing currently? Can it allow you immigrate to the UK or another country where she can join you too? There are some places that if you immigrate to today, she won’t think twice before coming to join you.

Please try to make your own profile ‘attractive‘ too.

Sorry if I sound very blunt but your wife doesn’t seem to be able to bear the consequences of you starting all over again. Does she have personal reasons for telling you to hold on? I don’t know.

Slow down on the pressure. Desperation would do more harm. If she doesn’t want you to come, please don’t go. Anytime there is problem, she’ll be quick to remind you that she told you to hold on.

Here is what you can do.

Since you are interested in nursing, why don’t you get a RN license from a school of nursing here in Nigeria, and then cross over as a skilled worker.

You can do this yourself: https://www.nairaland.com/2863557/nigerian-nurses-midwives-dream-working

https://www.nairaland.com/5268048/adventures-uk-bound-nurse

Can you afford to sacrifice your current job for this new path? That’s a question only you can answer.

My advice is that you try to immigrate to the UK independently. That way you are better shielded if issues erupt in your marriage. Also, you’ll earn more respect in your home.

However, if she changes her mind tomorrow and wants you to join her, please do so. That’s your only assurance that she’s willing to go through stuff for you until you find your feet in that new country.

Bro, what are you doing currently? Working as Executive assistant and secretary Can it allow you immigrate to the UK or another country where she can join you too? don't really know. Honestly she is discouraging me ever since I got this 200k monthly job. She keeps complaing all the time. UK is hard, will you be able to work longer hours. Will u be able to do care jobs, u can't further y studies here, the fees is very expensive but, a friend told me I can collect govt loan to further my studies when I get permanent stay. ( Pls how true is this?) these are all she keeps telling me since she got her permanent residence. She started advicing me to stay put, that she can be visiting for now. I am confused
Any Nigerian who is earning minimum wage will see the UK as difficult, especially if its mimumin wage and one earner ..... so most likely with your new job she probably thinking might be best to stay in nigeria . Anywhere in the world, the higher the pay the more comfortable

The question then becomes, if she discouraging you. Is she happy to then pack her load and move to Nigeria. If yes then cool. If no then ...... that becomes jamb question as it's better for both to here than one if UK is as hard as she says

Regarding career, it's a nigerian thing to think you are forever bonded by your first degree professionally. Here nothing like that and change can be constant. What you read in uni can be in the past. People branch into new career path. So if you want to move her and dont want the care job that your wife mention and feel your bsc in Germany or history might not be a good career . Then find a career path and start building yourself for example maybe a path in Information technology which is wide

Say I want to search for this keyword 'Bioinformatics' on this thread, all I need to do is use a query.

Copy the query below and search on Google.

site:nairaland.com intitle:"Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant" Bioinformatics

What I’m doing is instructing Google to search only Nairaland.com for only threads with that title, and that also contains the keyword I’m looking for.

Putting the title or what you are searching for in quotation means you are looking for that exact phrase.

Also, you would only be able to see threads that are indexed in Google Search. For busy sites like NL, it takes a few minutes for new pages to appear on Google so you have nothing to worry about.

I hope this helps.

I read through some of your previous post and noticed you have been on this issue since mid 2019.
Do you really love your life?
Kindly forget about UK talk with your wife for now, cos it's becoming boring.

Focus more on your life and be happy for the main time. If possible, stop all communication with her. Do you have children yet? Working as a care assistant here and not been able to bring her husband is just a super story. Single life is boring here and coming to join her is an additional relieve for her in terms of paying Bills.
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by omopapa: 1:59pm On May 18, 2020
Maybe she got the indefinite leave in a dodgy way and she’s committed in one way or the other (if you know what I mean)

Although it’s easier and way cheaper to build a house in Nigeria than in the UK, rent is even cheaper while some live rent free.

Mortgage is expensive in the UK and even if you have the money, other factors like your credit score and steady source of income will still be considered.

It should be easier for her to bring you over Cus she’s already got her indefinite leave and you being in the UK, shld be a good thing for her as y’all can share the bills and ease the pressure

...but then again, back to my first point...

I don't think they have children yet, that is what he's trying to achieve if I recall correctly
She is not seeing it as a relieve rather a burden, at 40 plus with a German certificate- unfortunately his chances of getting something secure in 6months-12 months is very slim. I think he's an Alpha Alpha Oga too, top executive 'earning well' crossing over to low wages with settled madam earning strong currency, too tired to make Original Pounded yam with Afang soup after 12hr shift hmmm

Yes the U.K has almost everything in place for you to live comfortably but like they say... better soup na money... the more you earn the more you pay into the system to support its smooth running. That is why you have ‘free healthcare’ free education, benefit system etc.

To large extent there is a high level of accountability here and corruption is not celebrated.

If you live within your means in the U.K you will not struggle to meet your needs, so it’s not necessarily about how much you earn, it’s about how much you saved.

You and your wife will be fine if both are financially responsible.
