Flairoqy:
Real covid-19 patients are prone to have issues with breathing, best believe they're supposed to be laid faced down to enable free flow of air into their lungs (there's medical explanation for what I'm trying to imply). So patients dancing means they've fully recovered from the illness or are not ill at all. At least 40% of Nigerians are not illiterates
Do you guys realise you can have malaria parasites swimming in your blood stream for years without you ever falling sick?... Do you realise a person can be a carrier of HIV for years and be able to infect people, but they themselves will never fall ill for once?

Or are you guys one of those that would willing screw a prostitute without protection because she isnt ill and doesnt 'look' or behave like someone with a virus? Afterall the 'literate' logic is that "real HIV carriers must be down with AIDS and look emaciated"

Are you guys aware that well over 50% of corona carriers dont show any symptoms, or show only mild symptoms right till the virus clears from their system? If you have the internet to type on Nairaland, what really stops you from using that data for a simple google research?

@Flairoqy, you're right actually, 40% of Nigerians are not illiterate; but your above logic doesnt exactly make you sound like you belong to that 40%, no offense.

Covid 19 started in China as a deadly disease but got to Nigeria as a scam.

Stupid and useless government, those in the isolation centers are either suffering from malaria or hunger.

We see how patients suffering from covid 19 look like in other countries but ours is different.
SMH, how do they look, you better protect yourself out there, a lot of Nigerian might be asymptomatic and go about spreading it. You can't say if your immune system is strong enough if you contract it, what of your family members, do they all have strong immune system. Please use your head

Did you see the nine persons die or because NCDC said it. Guys open your eyes and don't let these politicians take away your common sense! For sure, COVID-19 is real, but bros, the scam is more real than the virus!

seunlayi:
Actually, those with better sense of reasoning already understood what is going on in that isolation ward. They need it especially those with less severe symptoms to keep fit, better morale, kill boredom, ETC. I am sure the day Ncdc decides to show those in critical condition, many will be amazed. Nine patients died yesterday and I am sure many others are in critical condition. But those misleading people won't see/say something about this.

Toxay:

So over 1 million Americans are on respirators now?
Why would you have access to internet and still be this ignorant about something that is affecting your life at this magnitude.
This is quite simple, most people with the virus are either asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, only about 2% are in critical condition and would need respirators.
Also in many countries like the United States, most of the people who tested positive would self isolate at their homes for a particular period of time but that cannot be implemented in this country for very obvious reasons.

I hope you are not too dumb to understand this and also why people at the isolation centers are dancing

I just tire with the kind of reasoning I am seeing about this covid 19. The people saying it's malaria still go about wearing face mask

Lols , they are dancing and beating drums brought to them by NCDC to ease their tension or illness...

Does it mean there are no other people there that their cases are serious and needs silence or cool atmosphere?

Show me a Hospital background that allows such policy, even a Chemist man's shop around my street allows no such thing near his shop

How can NCDC come up to Justify such Nonsense, I suspect that the pictures and videos where taken out of the believe of NCDC because they never wanted us to know what is going on inside there ......
..

The question should be who allowed the videos?
.
Is it NCDC or the Patients or rather the afro dancers Patients.....

NCDC was taken by surprise and they had to cook up this story...

If they really wanted us to see a video, I know what they will bring up

In Nigeria they are dancing Ogehne Igbo showing that in Nigerians are extraordinary people.

In Raymond Dekposi voice

COVID-19 in Nigeria is synonymous with malaria and that's how Wike is writing numbers everyday in Rivers State.

The corridor lawyer couldn't decipher COVID-19 and malaria since both are synonymous in symptoms

Thank you dear. Majority think that all the over 1m active cases in the US are in the hospital. No. Only serious cases are admitted. Majority are self isolating at home and following the CDC guidelines. Some don't even need to take medicine at all. Some need to keep exercising. Majority of cases in Nigeria fall into the mild to moderate category.
I have been watching NCDC and then asking myself "when the cases grow to 10,000 or more, where will you keep them when more than 90% was not supposed to be admitted in the first place?" Can you continue to feed them? Can Nigeria afford the cost? Now to test one patient costs a minimum of N40k excluding feeding and cost of running the Gen attached to the centre. At the end of the day the govt is spending no less than N150k- N200k per patient for the 14-20 days in isolation, can the govt sustain that?
You see, we are back to square one. Admit only those whose cases are serious and critical. It is known that most people cannot self isolate because of their living condition. It is up to the relatives or parents or acquaintances of the person isolating at home to live by the NCDC guidelines. Free the economy, relax all restrictions and let people live how they want to live. Enforce the use of face mask. Whoever wants to play safe will comply with the guidelines, whoever wants to be reckless pays the price. This is not too different from HIV. You can't shut down the whole country because you want to handle a virus which we are yet to fully understand. The costs are unsustenable.
And being a virus that presents only when you test, then don't test. If you don't test, you won't find positive cases. Case studies exist in Kogi and Cross River states. If Nigeria were to be aggressive with testing by now we should have executed up to at least 1,200,000 tests. At that rate at N40 per patient, we would have spent 1,200,000 x N40,000 =. ............ Please my calculator broke down. Can the govt afford that

U made vital points. I like constructive arguments rather than baseless ones from many on this forum. The most significant thing in fighting this pandemic is the compliance from citizens. Yes the government have failed us over and over. Yes we have reasons not to believe everything they tell us. Yes they might be using this pandemic to loot money. Yes yes. But to say coronavirus is not in Nigeria is a joke. This is a disease that crippled the whole world, it is in almost all countries in Africa, why would Nigeria be left out? I think our climate is really helping us. In the US they are talking of possibilities 9f second wave when winter comes. Thank God we don't have winter here.

To fight this pandemic us the citizens need to believe the virus is real even if we think government are lying about the numbers. If we do not believe it's real all government efforts will be in vain. Yesterday I went to fix my car and my mechanic laughed at me when he saw hand sanitizer in my car. He was even reluctant to comply when I told him he must sanitize his hand before touching the car, he said there's nothing like coro. These kind of people will make it difficult to curb the virus. Must we wait until things get really worse before we do the right thing? Most people don't wash their hands, they live their normal life. They touch the faces at will with dirty hands.

Self isolation at home is the way to go for asymptomatic and patients with mild symptoms. But when a patient does not believe the virus is real then self isolating at home would fail.

U see videos of the few covid-19 patients with severe cases struggling for their lives. The US have about 1.1 million active cases and u see a few hundreds of those struggling for their lives. What about the remaining 1 million plus with mild cases, do u see their videos?

Below is a video of a lawyer in the us who was tested positive to the virus. Tell me does this person look sick? Do u see him struggling with his life under a ventilator like most of u think? His wife is also positive and they are both isolating at home in different rooms. If this was in Nigeria u will say what he has is malaria.

This is exactly what I've been preaching to those that care to listen.

The fact that you see people in isolation centers doesn't necessarily mean they should start living like fugitives or deranged fellas.

They are humans and as such, they are entitled to do what others do. It's not as if uninfected people are there with them.

I mean, Covid-19 is not a death sentence now. And even it is, shouldn't people live the best of their lives before they die?

Let's be reasonable abeg.

My brother that is what I have been saying right from time. The NCDC must first work hard to KILL the VIRUS of IGNORANCE around Covid-19 in order to succeed. This virus has really exposed the alarming depth of ignorance and stupidity of majority of the Nigerian populace cutting across even so-called exposed and educated persons. I don't know what on Earth would make anyone to suddenly jump up and conclude that there is no Covid-19 in Nigeria. The reasons some give would want you to recommend they be remanded in the ghetto.
To think that it is the same people who were blaming and cursing the govt two months ago for not closing the borders on time, the same people are the ones screaming audio, scam, it's unbelievable. If govt is cashing out via Covid-19 should that be news, and does that erode the obvious reality that Covid-19 is here with us?
Someone made another very annoying but abysmally lame argument sometime ago. Each time I think of it, I will almost lose hope in people. He argued "if there is coronavirus in Nigeria why did the late COS die and Atiku son did not die?". Now a mere dumb person will not put up such an argument, you need to be SUPER dumb for your mind to cook up such infertile comparison. As if diebetes, BP, Malaria kills everyone that has it.
The ignorance trailing Covid-19 in Nigeria is currently worse than the virus itself. Thank God it is not as deadly as Ebola, but again I fear if it is not well handled, if fear........ I fear because our health infrastructure is too weak to support any surge and that would be devastating. Whether one doubt it or not, the reality right now is that the figures are rising and those who think the figures are being doctored would soon face the inescapable reality.
