I agree with you my guy. But I need your help on this. I want to venture into business and leave this ugly world of working for someone.

Please could you help me divert one of your car customer in buying my piece of land? Help a brother before I roast here. It's in a good location area with a level of erection in it.

I'll be looking forward to your quote. Thank you

Thank you. I was waiting for this comment. If I need to have a lot of money for my basic human needs to be fulfilled, then there definitely is a problem. Not everybody moved abroad because they were struggling. We were doing pretty well, if not better in Nigeria.
During this corona pandemic, the few Nigerian politicians who contracted the virus would have flown out of the country, if they could. It's not just about money.
My own is, I will be waiting for you

Most Nigerians replying to the above message have not stepped outside the country. You have to have lived outside the country for about 20years plus before really know what is going on in these foreign countries. Most Nigerians in abroad can't even afford to relocate if they want to. Most of them are stuck.

why not contribute more to us naa from your wealth of experience?
I know you may have limited time but try.

There is nowhere like home. Nigeria offers you favourable climate, delicious foods, fantastic entertainment, and civil liberty. It is ignorant that make my people to devote their loyalty to foreign countries where they are regarded as second class citizens over their own fatherland.

In fact, second class would have been good, Africans and people of African descent are usually at the bottom of the hierarchy in virtually every country in the world including some non-Arab African countries....smh

Honestly, i always feel embarrassed the way some people behave at that lagos airport, abuja is not like that Abuja is calm people behave appropriately at abuja airport.

You are right. The last time I used the Abuja airport I noticed some measure of orderliness. Compared to Lagos I was impressed, and since it's been my decision to use the route.

So true...I always wonder why they have not all been exposed by the media or government...Shows that both are in bed with such people and until that changes, the electricity situation will remain the same....

There are so many disgusting slaves in this thread.

Expatriates keep flooding Nigeria.

Returnees are seriously yearning to be back home.

Lebanese and Indians would do anything to be awarded Nigerian citizenship.

During general elections, we know those who stay glued to Channels TV like their lives depend on it.

Where I stay in Nigeria, there we could have light for days unending. Government water runs inside my house fairly regularly. There is no traffic. The roads are tarred. The streets are clean - swept everyday by dedicated sweepers. Food is cheap. Rent is fair. Education is cheap. Life is easy.

What more can I ask for

Stop judging Nigeria based on some cities.

Some places in Nigeria are far better than abroad...

I'm surprised to read this; where do you stay please?

I'm not gonna lie...I miss Nigeria sometimes which makes me flirt with the idea of splitting my time there when my kids are older. I miss my family, my friends and the sense of community.

But then I remember lack of internet and electricity, horrific healthcare system, bad roads, bigotry, lack of value for human life, insecurity, police brutality, immense corruption, tribalism, crumbling or non-existent economy and a million other horrible things. This quickly resets my mind.

My solution which I'm currently working on is to bring my sisters and my best friend over to live in Sydney with me and make good living for themselves. Then I won't have any business with Nigeria anymore except to visit my parents every two years.

So to answer your question: no, nein, never!!!

wow, lack of internet...that part got me, I wonder how the millions of Nigerians on nairaland get here

You can quickly reclimatize to conditions in Nigeria and use money to buy all the comforts you think Nigeria is lacking.

It's only a foool that will use internet views as a yardstick to making life decisions. Many people passing comments here are using free basic internet. At under 30 I own my own house here in Nigeria.

Lol. Not everyone leaves Nigeria because they're struggling so speak only for yourself.

I had a fairly good job in Nigeria that was paying around 200k per month. It wasn't a lot of money but the best part of my job was the tips I was getting. I barely touched my salary cos I lived off my tips and my high-risk investment which had 20% monthly return. Before relocating from Nigeria, I had been to Istanbul, Paris, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Dusseldorf, London, Dubai, NYC, Vegas and LA on holidays. I also visited to Cotonou shortly before I left Nigeria because I wanted to experience life in another African country.

Yeah my first few months here were tough. But as someone with a high drive to succeed, I quickly learnt the ropes and how to package myself and get a good job. God also blessed me with a man who has the same drive as me, we're doing alright and we're currently building our multi-million dollar home in Sydney. And I've been here less than 4 years.

I choose to live in Australia because the leaders here are sane and they have respect for their citizens. The Govt is giving out $1,500 per fortnight to eligible people who lost their jobs due to Covid-19...and so many other stimulus packages to individuals and businesses to help sustain them through the crisis. I didn't lose my job so didn't get the Covid-19 money, and we generally don't get any welfare payments from the Govt because our household income is way above the threshold.

I've been to Nigeria several times and I spent over a month there last year. I still have lots of friends who are doing well in Nigeria even in the midst of the craziness going on; some in govt and some into contracts. I would probably be ok if I returned to Nigeria today, but I value my life and my sanity.

No matter how rich you're in Nigeria, you'll always be surrounded by abject poverty and all the third-world country problems.

Thank you cheesy

It's not everywhere u experience slow internet.

Also depending on where u live and work, you can enjoy nigeria but u must be rolling in cash.

With your money, everybody will be at your bevk and call but is that really the ideal way to live?

I enjoyed 22hrs minimum electricity everyday when I was in Nigeria. My gen was lying dormant. My area was heavily guarded by men on mofti and very quiet.

I just miss the busybody and amebò.
Even when u are not part of those doing that, when u are away from.them, u will def miss that.
Sorry, I missed this yesterday smiley

I genuinely enjoy my time whenever I'm in Nigeria as I am lucky enough to have the means to exist comfortably there. However, no matter how much I manage to seclude myself away from the 'outside', I cannot be entirely far removed from all the country's problems.

Electricity was just one of many examples of the general below standards of living in the 21st century. I keep being told that if you have money, there are 'alternatives', my issue is that I don't want to live in a country where basic human rights (like electricity) aren't already readily available for the common man and can only be obtained and enjoyed at a reasonable standard when you have money. That mindset just isn't normal to me

Do you no how many europeans asians would love to ocuupy that space called nigeria. if white replaced africans in africa it would developed in no less than a year you no why because majority of white people think alike. white people dont settle for mediocrity quote author=kushe post=89858680]Nigeria is for visionaries, not for people who want an easy life.Hundreds of years ago,America,Canada and Australia were all part of the unknown world and you had to be reckless and an adventurer to venture far beyond the shores of Europe. They went from the known to the unknown cos Europe was the only civilized world they knew.
Fast forward hundreds of years and Africa is the new unknown. It takes a radical, visionary to live on this continent. You all want to run away but the Indians are cleaning out in this same country in every sector. The Chinese are migrating here in their thousands and all we do is complain.
Nigerians still suffer from a 'Spirit of Servitude',always perceiving abroad to be better mostly because they have nothing to offer.
Ask not what your country can do for you,but what you can do for your country.Let the sky fall down,we die here.Nothing dey happen anywhere abroad.
