Wow!! That's just bitter jealousy!! I'm like you in terms of being an introverted private individual too. I did a 9-5 job for a year and a half before getting disillusioned with the whole thing and left the place. I sometimes still look back and have this thought that maybe leaving my former place of work was a mistake because situation hasn't really improved. If you don't mind, please bro, I would like to connect with you. I really would like to work from home too, I dont mind my neighbours suspecting and getting jealous of me as long as my conscience is clean and I'm working hard. I just need a push in the right direction and wont be a trouble. You could please just quote me sir and I would drop my contact. I would be really grateful if you do help me. Thanks studentofTruth: |

Ibime:I see where you are coming from. You were converting to GBP. 1 Canadian dollar is around N278 unlike 1 GBP that is N500. I used CAD since that is where OP is interested in moving to. I also used the wages obtainable in Canada. |

TallNigerian:Bros please. My advise is for you to leave for canada. There is no assurance in this country. And please and please. I would like to have your number so we can talk. I would really use your help. I really want to migrate seriously as soon as the ban is lifted in airports. |

My brother, I had lived in two other countries including Canada. No doubt the quality of living in Canada is high but It comes with a prize. In a country where people are paid by hour should make you ask why. You have to work your ass up daily. If you want to enjoy the kind of life you are used for the past 30 years then you will constantly be thinking of Nigeria and it will push you to come back to Nigeria for a vacation. Definitely you will miss your social life in Canada, the grooves and the layback Nigeria brings. You will miss your friends in Nigeria (for real). On the other side, the things you take as Luxury in Nigeria are taken for granted in Canada. You will never be debt free if you live in Canada and that is is how the society is structured. You work and work and work. No break. The phone you use is on contract, the water you drink is not free, the house you live is on 25 to 30 years mortgage. No free TV to watch. When yo hit 50 + years those things we call luxury in Nigeria but are taken for granted will not make meaning to you again. You start thinking more of social life and Nigeria. You want to come back or want your kids to come back to Nigeria to study. If you make it in Nigeria, then there will be no place like Naija to live. 2 Likes |

My dear brother RUN for your life, it's something I'm regretting for ATM . When i was asked to go to UK but i was really enjoying life here in Nigeria cos my work was going on smoothly. Now at my age I'm just thankful for the gift of life. Nigeria isn't guaranteed for anyone today you live extravagant life style tomorrow you become broke. Bro japa |

Jokerman: bro computer science is different , his IT period (6 months) should have given him enough time to be sure about himself if it wasnt for this coronavirus, he would be in final year second semester by now and still be looking for career guide before he even starts talking about mastering his said career. some of them are just unserious and lazy, they just fVck from level 100 upto nysc service in the end they blame the federal government #spits 1 Like |

TallNigerian:hmmmm... True all you've said. And other organizations really want to see experience aligned with field of study and training. What are your values and inner aspirations, if they align with going abroad, that may be best, or you come up with a one or two years plan to gather resources, or maybe start doing on the side what aligns with your discipline so you have some experience, after all the civil service gives a lot of free time or just take the advice on taking a study leave or something to go sail the abroad waters if it doesn't work, ur job remains. 1 Like |

My candid advice to you brother is to travel to Canada, but also importantly take it to God in prayers and never take any step in life without consulting with God. He is the best councilor to contact because He knows the very end of a man's life from the beginning. Thank you. God bless you |

NDakota: My brother, I am 24 oh. I finished school at 20 and was through with service at 21. My British Canadian cousins called me then, I said let me work first. Honestly this morning, I talked to my cousin on twitter and she legit was angry about the entire thing. They have tried convincing me to come to the abroad for 3 years. I'm getting out of here as soon as I can. There's nothing remaining for me to do here. |

TallNigerian: Hi, it's my pleasure and good to know you find it helpful. In bold, great, great, great! You cant go wrong with either of the 2 professions. IT is a big deal in Canada, the same with some other professions. Public health too is another, and like you mentioned, this wasn't likely valued as much until this pandemic. I have some friends in the public health field and they're so in demand right now. I dont even need to talk about the money they get from it. Like someone mentioned, skills are more of what cannyland values than degrees. So even with your degree, continue to learn like you said. Learn online, learn one or 2 hands on skills. You can be working a professional job and also have a side business based on your skills that will also bring you money. I've read how people talk about debt, yes that's the way the system is programmed. And Tax isn't even funny. Its like you are working for the government, although they have a tax return system that is very valuable and rewarding. At the end of day it depends on what you are looking for. If you are someone who isn't competitive, or feel the need to accomplish everything in a short space, then you take your time. Once there's life, there's hope for what you can accomplish. Go for what you can afford. The good thing also is health care is free in Canada, because that's another unplanned emergency that can put one in debt, but the government covers majority of that worry. Coupled with your work medical insurance, you will likely not have so much to pay when it comes to buying medications. Not everyone living in Canada has massive debts as being portrayed. (but again, I might be wrong ) Some people work, save and decide to opt for only what they can afford. some have debts but yet strategize and are able to manage it. It all depends. Not one shoe size fits all. The interesting thing is Nigerians are really the ones in competition with themselves. Canadians really dont care that much. The most debt a Canadian will be in is mortgage (which of course is massive ooo ), but compare to a Nigerian that just arrived Canada in 3 months and is already thinking of opting for several loans for car, mortgage, school etc. Priority is key! That's not to rule out the fact that the system is set up in a way to make everyone live in debt. That's why most companies will offer you credit card, offer you increase in your card limit, and even offer you mortgage (even when you are barely a year in the country), that's when you realize that not everything is free and you need to think and plan wisely. So dont let any of this scare or discourage you. If you sense the need to do, and you've been able to discern, then make plans and move. Also age is really on your side, especially with the point based system. If you are 30 or < you get a even higher point. And absolutely, please feel free to reach out. Cheers |
