Even in present times, flashing custom ROMs aren't easy, starting with bootloader unlocking, and various Anti-rollback issues.

But then You get different AnTuTu scores on stock ROM compared to custom roms(MIUI or aosp)

At least there are people here running stock and custom rom. Let's drop AnTuTu scores and compare
nah, meaningless endeavor. You are arguing that optimized custom roms can make phones perform better than stock ROM (which makes sense because hardware and software makes the phone). The other dude was arguing that you won't really know if a phone is powerful unless you flash custom ROM.

Not sure why you think you are making the same argument as he was. Apples and oranges. Also not sure why you think it makes sense to use the Antutu Benchmark to prove that flashing ROM is a benchmark for determining phone/chipset power.

I'd pass, man. Enjoy.

PS: the 'easy' part was actually about changing fonts, you know, the part that came after a comma and just before the first parenthesis in my post.

Bro, my experience with this M30 just from 2018 I guess is a testament to the fact that those reviewers are biased. The metal build is nice though and the resolution. Asides that, bro I won't advice you to get a teclast tablet.
Okay, thanks.

the Dimensity 820 performance is also only surpassed by 855, 855+ and 865 in the SD lineup, according to Antutu.

Remains to be seen what it can truly do in a device though. Let's hope they aren't cheating again.

This, I am quite excited to see. If it's actually real world performance, then Qualcomm will have to eat it's heart out and make their premium midrange SoCs like the 765, 765G, 768G, etc cheaper.

They are enjoying sort of a pseudo-monopoly right now because Mediatek hasn't really competed with them in the past. It's a whole new ball game now and we may have the Intel Vs AMD situation.

Unverified source claims the SD865 SoC costs $180.

Alternate between the configs depending on periods of day.

read the part you highlighted again... Slowly. Like many people, you don't seem to pay any attention to detail, rushing headlong into any argument.

That part is tested and trusted? That you can use Antutu Benchmark to prove that FLASHING ROM IS A BENCHMARK? Bro, seriously?

In the instance you just described, it is Antutu that is the benchmark, helping you measure performance by simulating usage. Custom ROM can help optimize your phone (or even worsen performance), but it does not help you CHECK if your phone is powerful/weak. Flashing ROM is not a performance benchmark!

You have an anti-MTK bias? It's valid. Many also do. However, don't make unsound arguments for the sake of arguing. It's tiring.

That's the last I'd say on this. Can't be in an argument where the other party doesn't even understand what he is arguing for or what I'm arguing against.

You seem to take only the part that suits you. I've said let's do a comparison here and you are running away.. but below you claim dimensity 820 performed well according to the same AnTuTu you refused to believe ROMs can alter?

yes that's his point, and I already agreed in a previous post. It has nothing to do with the claim that flashing custom ROM is the way you really check if your phone is powerful.

If he wants an argument, he should look for someone who is saying there is no difference in performance when running stock or custom ROM.

with samsung's new partnership with AMD, the game would be changing soon. Heard they released a chip 3% faster than sd865. And are hoping to gain grounds in the SoC market. Someone needs to end this useless monopoly

Lol at monopoly.

Snapdragon has different chip for different market segment. The rest should also come up with theirs. At least that's what Xiaomi and co did to force Samsung to reconsider their midrange segment.

It is not entirely snapdragon's fault that mtk refuses to have sense.

lol. At this point, this is just an attempt at a Strawman argument.

Kindly quote my post where I said or implied ROMs don't affect performance.

Does 'boosting/reducing performance' mean the same thing to you as 'determining if your phone is powerful or not'? What's even the relationship? How's your argument even making sense to you?

yeah... Interesting times.

I don't blame Snapdragon sha, I mean if I have a product that is blowing competition away, no reason why I shouldn't give it a 'befitting' price that makes me richer. Na business.

The Dimensity series looks good so far, but I won't throw all my weight behind it just yet. I also don't trust them to remain cheap when they have gained a foothold smiley

I am actually looking for a cheap tablet for reading and Netflix. I was watching TechTablets and he reviews some nice Teclast tabs. Much newer M series though. Might get one if it's cheap enough.

Please, in the name of all that's holy and good, steer well clear of any tablet with a Helio X series SoC (X20, X23, X27, etc). They have good benchmark scores but they perform terribly in real life usage scenarios.
Teclast have decent build quality compared to a brand like Chuwi, but make sure you research forums well before you commit. I believe the Teclast T30 powered by the Helio P70 is a decent option compared to their M series tablets.
