Suya! You waste your time and money and even if you win, you will not get an award commensurate with the stress. Save your lawyer fees and use it to treat your baby |

![]() I'm kinda lost. I read your post and I'm wondering, why you have not asked your doctor these questions. I have kids too. And while I'd be outraged if a doctor makes costly mistakes in treating them, first thing I'd do is call the doctor to enquire if there's a good reason I'm given that medication. I might request another opinion, but I would focus on getting my child the medical care needed. If you'd done this, you would not be asking these particular set of questions. So I'll ask you mine. Are you for real or are you shitting us? |

My brother if you were in a sane country I would have advice you to sue but in Nigeria it's a 50 /50 chance that anything will come out of it . You will even end up spending so much money on legal fees |

SolarEdge:Always triple check and crosscheck with other doctors, pharmacies and maybe even consultants if u know any and worst case scenario Google any drug given to u by any hospital or doctor especially private hospitals b4 using it. I know exactly what I'm saying. There are sm during not ment for kids below 18 bt they can be administered for them with correct dosage or prescription. I think bt they will state this to u explicitly. |

These days when I go to the hospital, I end up telling doctors what to prescribe and what not to after doing my own research. |

teemac01:So they can't or shouldn't be sued? Go to America and see how double board certified surgeons are scared of making mistakes, because they can be sued in a jiffy. And are meticulous with the patients. In Nigeria, you would see an ordinary resident doing anyhow and endangering lives. |
| Re: I'm Ready To Sue One Of The Biggest Private Hospital In Lagos by Spuggie: 2:13pm On May 24, 2020 |
SolarEdge:Please, what is the name of the cream? Your story is incomplete and cannot fly if you can't say the name of the drug. However, you may want to meet your healthcare provider and clarify issues with him, his/her response will now determine your next action. Talking of suing at this stage is premature. |
| Re: I'm Ready To Sue One Of The Biggest Private Hospital In Lagos by yusfatedeeprof(m): 2:14pm On May 24, 2020 |
SolarEdge:You can't sue them, unless your child suffered some sort of damage as a result of using the medication Because sometimes even, Doctor's prescription might be different from what's written in the leaflet.... That's why you see something like "Or as prescribed by the physician" on most leaflets |

SolarEdge Lol, honestly speaking you'd come across this often as a parent.. Sometimes even the dosage prescribed may not be the recommended dosage for a child of that age as stated on the leaflet, they've been times I had to call my doctor to ensure there was no mistake. And what is the essence of suing when you can't claim damages? The drug was not used on your baby & the cream used last night has not caused damages... Yet. 18years above is too much though, just go back to the hospital to know why the doctor did that, he may have his reasons. |

Don't waste your resources trying to sue them. There's a Federal agency that caters to such grievances. Report to FCCPC, they are very effective especially when you tag their DG on twitter. |

Have you taken the medication back to the hospital to point this out to them? Have you complained to them about it? Nairaland is not a conflict resolution centre, hospitals have Patient Advisory and Liaison Service officers for a reason-put those to good use! |

SolarEdge:thank God u dint use it on your baby! just take the cream back to the hospital n show the doctor. since you have already paid for it, they should give you the right one for your baby. you will not win if you sue them, it will be just a waste of your time n money. this is Nigeria . |

I guess you are a lawyer or you have an easy access to one. Please sue them if you can afford the time, costs and energy. That's how one D.r. S..ey. hospital killed my mentor, one of the best persons I have ever met in my life. Misdiagnosed him for diabetes for almost 20 years. Suffered from kidney problems later which led to total organ failure eventually. The family never sued though and in still pained. These people must be held accountable. Thanks to God wasn't added to these list |

teemac01:If everybody decides not to sue, how will you grow? How will people take responsibility and be accurate? Suing is a culture that can be learnt even in Nigeria. Lawyers will get rich, some patients too will get rich, but it is good for society. |

What are you suing for? Negligence? What is the proof of negligence? Do you have the doctor's prescription with you? What damages did you suffer, if any? And you and your wife, how can you apply anything on your child without checking? Even malaria medicine, at my age, I still check the leaflet to be sure of dosages and side effects. You can never be too careful, it is good your wife had the wisdom to check it this morning, before any irreparable damage could have been done. The fact that the pharmacist kept asking that question, should have alerted you both enough to cross check. You can sue the hospital, but litigation takes a lot of time and money, it would serve you faster if you report them to relevant authorities, like the CPB, or NMA, since there was no specific damage done eventually. |

That was how one private hospital almost kill my enemy (not me). The Attendant (nurse) couldn't read my BP (blood pressure). My BP had collapsed and I was so cold, she stared at me suspiciously and wrote 120/80 on my file. I was rushed to a better hospital few hours later and the nurse detected she couldn't read my BP, saline was run on me immediately and I got myself. If I had the power then I would have sued the hospital but just thank God for my life |

If you are a good researcher, you will find out that you know more than most Nigerian doctors on medical issues. Ots just that you cant carry out procedures. |
