Dont waste ur time, is chloroquine meant for corona? Is there antifungal meant for children? Ur child has candida rash, which is a fungal and u applied antifungal. Atimes such proscriptions are given base on how de clinician see de rash. Wats the harm, very low even if u apply all the tube in 2 days. High chance dat de drug wil clear the rash dan harm 7 Likes 1 Share |

No matter how juicy it might seem to sue. Firstly, can we know the name of the antifungal cream. Somehow I know for such cream to be contraindicated for patients of such age, it probably must have a corticosteroid. Also, you can have a tangible case if only such has been used and it inflicted harm to the baby, then you have a solid ground for litigation. In addition, most of the patients that visit hospital pharmacy feels that the pharmacist has no contribution to make (that is if it's even a pharmacist that is attending to you) or are always in a haste to go, feeling that they have spent quite some time in the hospital than another important section (Pharmacy) of the health system to steal their time. I actually blame the system flow/arrangement, because you will even see another patient walk up to the pharmacist to ask if he/she isn't done with the patient he/she is attending to. If I have my way, the setup will be that: you have to be ushered in; into the pharmacy unit where you meet the pharmacist, with brief explanation of why you are on the hospital visitation, your drug history if any; proper verification of your drugs for side effects and possible interactions, counseling on how to use/apply your prescribed drug(s). This is what it should be!, but you know in Nigeria, anything can go. Patients, on average in Nigerian hospitals spend approximately 30 seconds with their pharmacist. Now tell me how 30seconds can discover and address all these. Abroad, there is a high statistics of people dying of different kinds of medication/ prescription error. Well, let's not talk about Nigeria, because we don't even have a data base more or less data itself. Well, we will talk about patent medicine dealers later. Our healthcare needs urgent reform, but our leaders careless of that. 1 Like |

Take it easy.. You should be thankful to God. That you found out before using it on your child. Don't be the reason why someone else will lose hes/her Job.. Times are hard no work out there... Simply got back to the Doctor and sound a warning... PEACE. |

@op What's the name of the topical medication.... Some antifungal topical agents are off licence in children, but can still be prescribed anyway and they are safe in children.... Call the hospital and clarify.... Besides what exactly are they treating your for.... Most nappy rash can be managed with good hygiene and common barrier creams... |

What happened was quite sad and very unfortunate. I wish your child a quick recovery. I will advise you however to have a discussion with the hospital management first and see how they react to your complaint. If they express sincere apology and are ready to treat your child ,free of charge, for the adverse effects of the wrongly prescribed/supplied drug, just let the situation slide. Please don't just rush to the law as a way of punishing someone who might be ready to admit their wrong doings and express sincere apology for it. You can develop a fantastic relationship with the management of that hospital the result of which you can never tell. Take it easy bro. |

Some people that use FungbatA on their children will even come here to condemn the doctor. The man should move on, what's the assurance the cream will harm the baby. The complainant is not even sincere enough to name the prescribed cream. |

jaxxy:Under Negligence? Wrong What if it's the right prescription? Physicians knows better than us.... Any drug is likely to cause harm.... But how do you prove that the drug would have caused a damage. That Doctor prescribed a drug meant for an adult to a child? Or because it's written on the leaflet that it's for adult? So it must have caused a damage and the damage must be as a result of the child using a drug meant for an adult which the doctor prescribed negligently |

SIRTee15: In a thread of 4 pages, your comment is the only one that makes sense to me. The other pages are filled with medically illiterate folks saying the OP should sue, the OP hasn't even mentioned what the name of the medicine he was prescribed is. The are many medicines that are licensed for adults, but can be prescribed for unlicensed uses in children based on the experience of the prescriber. 1 Like |

The major problem we have in Nigeria is that most of the junior doctors both in private and public don't have adequate knowledge about medicine. They keep on using the body of their patients to do " Trial and Error" I took my dad to LASUTH last year because he was seriously sick...there was a female doctor that attended to him...obvious, the doctor was confused and didn't know what to do...she asks us to buy a starter pack and some other things like that....we wasted the whole day in LASUTH becos of the naive doctors. Someone later suggested that we approach one of the specialist's doctors....in which we did. Immediately the specialist doctor checks and started treatment, within two hours my Dad gained his consciousness. I said within me that if I don't have money to pay a private specialist doctor, this is how this man will just die for free. There are some people that died in the hospital as a result of naive doctor or.nurse who doesn't know his or her job and yet they have the medical certificate to practice... Lawyers are even the worst. All kind of quack lawyers that all that they are good at is only police reports and affidavits... Some lawyers we write something that will indict their clients. Some will write with a lot of grammatical errors. Some do even know the job...a lot of them are quack lawyers. lawyers that really know his or her will make the case sweet for you... |
