Depends on the adverse effect the drug cud possibly have actually. If its ment for adults bt relatively harmless to the child for certain reasons like dosage applied it still ok. If i wud cause sure damage once used then it doesn't need to be used b4 u sue whoever prescribed it.

Take am easy no sue them because of cream , they may be a mistake and no one is above That .
You get paid good money not to make mistakes. If you do, feedback system should be put in place to help prevent future recurrence. What it the couple are illiterates that can afford the services of the hospital.
What if they are the carefree type that won't bother to check details of products before consumption?

This is very bad and careless of them. Shows the nurses donor know their onus or were they just carefree?
Thank God you haven't used the drugs on your baby. This is a lesson to parents, especially nursing mothers, please read drugs instructions very well before administering to your child. Many have died as a result of doctors or nurses mistakes.

Thank God ooo.Maybe the cream now would have increased the baby's organ.Thank God for the escape.

We noticed some rash in our 4 months old baby's sex organ which I perceived is a reaction from her diapers, we took her to the hospital for checkup and they recommended anti fungal cream to be applied and instructed that we don't wear her diapers for now while we apply the cream.

While waiting at the hospital pharmacy I noticed the attendant was taking longer time to attend to me, because the doctor had already written to them what they should give to me with my baby's file in front of the attendant. The attendant still asked how old is the baby I said 4 months. She was just giving excuses that she's coming that I should be patient, so I sat down.

After some time she brought the cream and some drugs. We left and got home very late last night, so my wife suggested my baby should start the drugs by morning but we should apply the cream given to us and we did not wear our baby diaper as instructed.

So this morning my wife decided to read through the leaflet in each of the drugs including the cream. To our greatest surprise the cream was strictly meant for adults and it was categorically stated it should not be used for children under age 18

Now, I'm wondering why would the hospital pharmacy attendant give us such cream. Is it that the prescribed cream wasn't available that was why she was going to and fro like the devil described in the book of Job in the Holy Bible.

Please what's your advise on this matter, is it a careless mistake or it was a deliberate act.

There are series of problem here, the fault may come from the attendant or the doctor who prescribed the said drugs..... bunch of illiterates......sue the stupid hospital jare... tomorrow now dem go say na devil's work.

The drug may not actually cause harm if those below18yrs use it. It might hv been stated that way cos persons below 18yrs were not used in the clinical trial of d drug and therefore safety of use in such age groups has not been established . The doctor might have learnt from experience that it's safe to use in such age groups or sometimes modify its dosage/ application for such age. The best way to go about this is getting in touch with your doc nd hear out his reasons. Doctors or healthcare workers aint ur enemies and most mean well fr their patients . Some are in all earnesty putting in efforts to give their patients the best care possible. Sometimes , they make mistakes in the course of rendering care and many learn from such mistakes. they keep learning from cases they encounter and get better in the job. Doctors are not superhumans nd re not all knowing .
Another aspect common with private clinics is giving any other drug when the most suitable or recommended is out of stock in their clinics ;not paying attention to whether it would be in d patient's best interest but because they want to make sales.

In spite of the limited information you've provided, can I ask you a simple question. Have you returned to the pharmacy to raise your concerns? I guess not. You're already misjudging the situation based on your past experiences. The reasonable thing to do is to return to the pharmacy and ask for an explanation. But please go with an open mind, a belligerent stance will not help, and will merely lead the staff to get verbally confrontational. This is my experience cos we generally are no good at resolving conflicts, we are always seeking reasons to escalate. You wanting to go to court over a medication that caused absolutely no harm is a case in point.

Anyway, the antifungal you were given is likely formulated for adult use. Tons of medications in Nigeria have no infant formulation, hence Nigerian doctors and pharmacists try innovative measures like breaking up adult dose antibiotics for children. This leads to imprecise doses of course, but what are the other options in a country that doesn't prioritise health . Don't take my word for it though. Return to the pharmacy / doctor and ask for an explanation.

Let me help you before you enter a lost suit.
Even steroidal creams are used in infants.
Precaution is only advised.
Till now he has refused to tell anyone the name of the cream.
He thinks he is dealing with illiterates here.

Seek opinion from another doctor before you people start acting like you're subliterate.

That's how one idiot started making mouth that he'll sue because they gave his 20+yo child a antihypertensive even though he's not hypertensive. Turned out the drug was for migraine and they doctor had explained to the patient.

Be Sueing there, you hear?
They'll not attempt to apply any sense to thoroughly assess the situation before talking about Sueing.

I advice every one using any drug to first read the label and check the expiry date.

Seven years ago I was in an emergency situation in a hospital and a doctor happened to pass by and saw me through the window. He rushed in quickly and helped to bring the situation under control.
He sent for a drug which was purchased from a pharmacy outside the hospital.

The doctor discovered it was expired as he read the label just before giving me the injection. Am forever grateful for the tactful skill of the doctor. We still have some good doctors who know their job.
May God bless them as they struggle to save life.
