rdokoye: Lol. Even based on all economic indices, Ibadan trash Enugu. GDP, IGR, Poverty metrics, Industries, Infrastructures, Academic institutions, Research institutions, and etc. Do you want to contest any of the above? Can you see equating Ibadan, Enugu, and London in this context is rubbish. It could only be applicable if Enugu has a better economic indices than Ibadan. Not long ago, Enugu was quoted as one of the poverty capital of the south and yet you’re here telling me about an imaginary economy. Fun fact: Do you know Enugu is tiny without a good economic metrics? Do you know almost half of Enugu is covered with brown roofs? Even the multi-story buildings are dilapidated with brown roofs and some without windows? Do you also know everything is readily available to me through google earth? I will be following all of you closely, we are going to be painting nairaland with lot of brown roofs going forward. So ya’ll should thread with caution! 2 Likes |

Salewa97: Yes, it was, defying everything we know and understand about poverty. In the real world, poverty is heavily correlated with education (https://www.childfund.org/poverty-and-education/). As well as other things. But in Nigeria, the opposite reigns true. Making Nigeria the only country on earth, where less educated people (or uneducated people), do better economically than more educated (or educated) people. Enugu and Ebonyi, both finished in positions 9 and 10, from the last West African Council Examination results: https://www.nairaland.com/5362392/best-performing-states-2019-waec IGR is not a human development index, GDP and Per Capita are, along with life expectancy and education. Life expectancy is measured by mortality rates, which in turn is influenced by healthcare delivery: which encompasses, hospitals, access to medicines & basic amenities (such as clean water, sanitation, etc). It is these factors that measure wellbeing, living standards and actual poverty. All the other stuff you wrote simply showcases your limited understanding of how civilisations work. 3 Likes |

rdokoye: You mean the same WAEC and JAMB that SE always lead in the malpractices ratings? You are using Waec to judge education in a corrupt nation like Nigeria? Is it not the same SE where special centers even exist in a government secondary school located in the cities? The same Waec that most parents always register their kids at special centers and other impersonation sittings is what you’re using to judge education? I can see you know nothing! How many institutions are in Enugu and what is the ratings of their universities and research institutions with respect to Oyo state? Guy no matter what metrics you use, don’t ever place Oyo and Enugu in the same sentence. Even the life expectancy rate statistics showed by NBS indicates that Oyo has a higher expectancy rate than Enugu. In terms of industries, Oyo leads Enugu. In terms of SMEs Oyo state thrash Enugu. Infact after Lagos, the next in line is alternating between Oyo state and Rivers State. I told you before, let’s both use all the available statistical metrics to judge both Enugu and Oyo state. If Enugu lead Oyo state by points, then I will apologize openly to you! Attached are 4 documents to buttress my facts. —Enugu has a higher unemployment rate than Oyo. —Oyo has high SMEs than Enugu —Oyo has high Micro Enterprises than Enugu —Oyo has more business registered with CAC than Enugu Tell me what are the economic indices needed to judge? 3 Likes

Salewa97: Give me a link to those statistics, so I can look at them. That said, the employment stats, are 3 years out of date. According to those stats, Benue State has more SMEs than Anamabra - not exactly believable, when you have Anambra winning awards for the best supporter of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Nigeria. https://anambrastate.gov.ng/news?r=anambra-wins-again-this-time-for-supporting-small-businesses&hs=1fd31d366130d335fcef14babbcb9aaf Anambra has also been reported to have/had the most SMEs in the country. Which would make sense, given the entrepreneurial nature of the people, and the number of products produced in the state. What SMEs do you have in Oyo. Show me these products that Oyo people make. Well, it's a simple measurement, the WAEC and JAMB results. Not much room for manipulation. But okay, if you don't agree with them, then you have to be consistent, and only quote independent studies, and I mean INDEPENDANT, not collaborative reports. 3 Likes |

rdokoye: The bolded is the lie of the century. Anambra is NOT the state with the highest SMEs in Nigeria, that is a great lie bro. Oyo State SMEs is almost 4x that of Anambra. You guys hype your state too much and give false statistics without sources. Below is a comprehensive 167 page report from NBS on the list of SMEs by states and the type of SMEs in Nigeria and the modalities. Also included is the CAC business registration by states and Employment figures. http://smedan.gov.ng/images/NATIONAL%20SURVEY%20OF%20MICRO%20SMALL%20&%20MEDIUM%20ENTERPRISES%20(MSMES),%20%202017%201.pdf I attached the screenshot of the SMEs, CAC registrations, Employment stat below with their page number in the document. —Also read the below from Nairametrics, It showed Oyo as the second after Lagos. https://nairametrics.com/2019/07/13/businesses-boom-as-south-west-states-rank-top-on-smes-in-nigeria/ Do you still have any more thing to say?? 2 Likes

Salewa97: You're so vulgar. Behaviour like a human being, or just don't respond to me. Is it that difficult to grasp, the point I'm making. Why is Anambra winning awards for SME support, when, apparently, according to your dubious report, the number of SMEs in the state are relatively low? Does that make sense to you? Moreover, for those states that do, supposedly have lots of SMEs in them, what exactly do they have to show for it? Last time I checked, pretty much, all of Nigeria's indigenous industrial power is in the South-East. Oyo isn't known for manufacturing anything. |

Salewa97: Are you absent-minded? Didn't you dispute the educational results? If you don't believe them, because of the corruption in the Nigerian system, why are you quoting statistics from Nigeria to me? This isn't about truth with you. This is about emotions. If you want to spend the rest of your days, lying to yourself, then fine. You're not convincing me, and you're most certainly not convincing the generality of Yoruba people. They know the truth, that's why they'll NEVER push for their own independent country. 2 Likes |

rdokoye:Believe me I’m not, there is just no other way to express myself in English that to speak like that. Is it that difficult to grasp, the point I'm making. Why is Anambra winning awards for SME support, when, apparently, according to your dubious report, the number of SMEs in the state are relatively low? Does that make sense to you?Can you hear yourself? Winning Award for SME support is NOT dependent on number of SMEs bro, they are totally different. It’s just as ease of doing business, some states have the highest point in ease of doing business but don’t have much business In their states with respect to other states. Anambra could win the award for SME support today, while Abia could win it the next cycle, Borno May win the next one BUT the number of SMEs in theses states won’t jump up to overtake Oyo or Osun in one cycle. If you keep emphasizing on this Anambra issh that’s just an award, I will henceforth think you are purposely feigning ignorance. Moreover, for those states that do, supposedly have lots of SMEs in them, what exactly do they have to show for it? Last time I checked, pretty much, all of Nigeria's indigenous industrial power is in the South-East. Oyo isn't known for manufacturing anything. You are a liar again, no indigenous industrial power is domiciled in the SE that is a lie. What is the worth of all the industries in the SE? Why hasn’t those industries reflect in the GDP of the SE states? Why hasn’t it reflect in the revenue generation of the government? That means it’s a lie. The industrial capital of Nigeria is domiciled in Ogun state. You can’t contest this fact, if you do then something is wrong somewhere. Year upon year, the SW keeps retaining the record of the highest non-oil generating region and ONLY Ogun , Lagos, and Abuja actually generated an IGR that exceeded their FAAC from the FG. That tells you the power of those states, where are the audio industries of Anambra? You mean Innoson that 85% of his buyers are government agencies. 3 Likes |
Re: Borno Leads Ebonyi On NBS Ranking Of States IGR Of 2019 by Salewa97: 10:57pm On May 27, 2020 |
rdokoye: LOL! CAC registration is gotten directly from the issuing agency and that can’t be doctored. Even if you say the doctored the IGR, GDP, SMEs figures, there are several WorldBank and UNDP reports that also clearly showed the states of the SW are performing better than their counterparts in the country on average. I am not disputing WAEC report from the source, I am just telling you the menace of WAEC and the gross malpractices that always happen in that sector such that parents register for special centers for their wards and I’m not flattered by the results. WAEC issued what they have at hand and I am not doubting the record, all I’m just telling you is what I thought about it and what you yourself know about the cheating attitude of Nigerians. If you sample 100 people today on WAEC and they are to answer truthfully, I am sure 50% of those people would have done one malpractices or another to pass their exam. You may say I’m lying, but everyone seeing this post will acknowledge the fact. 3 Likes |

You just sit down in your room to write about places that you don't know anything about. Why did you get this funny idea that ' In Borno, almost everybody work in the Public sector'?? What percentage of about 4 million people in Borno are Government workers? Only a few thousands of the educated people work in the Public sector, majority of the people in Borno State are into Farming and Animal Husbandry. rdokoye: 2 Likes |

Which index did you use to measure the WEALTH of the two States? IGR is not a measure of wealth and low poverty index doesn't translate to great wealth. rdokoye: 2 Likes |

Manufacturing cars, trucks, motocycles, computers, food stuff...oh sorry, that's Igboland. I know Yoruba people. They are educated people, but they're not business people. They go to school, get good grades and apply for jobs - that's their M.O. and I'm not knocking it. But comparing Igbo people to Yoruba people is laughable. 2 Likes |

Re: Borno Leads Ebonyi On NBS Ranking Of States IGR Of 2019 by rdokoye: 12:56pm On May 31, 2020 |
Caseless: The insurgency in Borno is a symptom of poverty and underdevelopment. Prior to Boko Haram, Borno State had a 90% poverty rate. Yes, we must bring up education, because education is the key to poverty alleviation. Not just in Nigeria, but all over the world. To get a job or make employment for others you need education. All over the known universe (except for Nigeria, according to you) educated people make more money than uneducated people. People who work at Wall Street, make more money than cleaners, cashier workers, porters, etc. To be honest I can't believe I have to explain this to you. Are you so emotional that it inhibits your ability to think rationally? |
