I remember that show vividly... Even Frank was sitting at the edge of his chair with opened mouth that day as the man answering all the questions with much confidence and calmness.

Gone are those days with so much educative programme on our airwaves.

The day I sit down to watch BBN I'm very sure my mind will implode.

Watching other people live their lives has never been a favorite pastime of mine.

What's to be gained by watching that show anyway?
Psychology and sociology majors will explain what is there in watching others live their lives. Most Nigerians don't understand things likethis, and will never understand it.

There is a British Youtuber that watches every Reality Show you can think of, and analyses it. If you watch his program, you will understand why some watch shows like Big Brother.

It is fine if it is not something you can wrap your head around sha, we all cannot understand everything

Who remembers this man?

Aroma Ufodike, from Nnewi, Anambra State, who appeared on the popular TV Show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in Nigeria” on September 11, 2009, and won 10 million naira. He was the first and only person to win the top prize in Nigeria, I think.

He got all the questions without using any life line.

When he was on the last question, he said “I want to use my 'phone a friend' option to call my family at home that I’m about to win 10million Naira.”

My thoughts also go to the intellectually balanced Frank Edoho huh

Where is Gulder Ultimate Searchhuh?

These are the type of programs we need to see on air not the extremely immoral Big Brother Nigeria.

This is worth celebrating indeed, but I'm not trying to shame BBNaija either.. I'm just saying..

I wish these intellectually stimulating TV programmes could return back to our homes. #GodBlessNigeria
He used the phone a friend lifeline to answer his last question, the question was about a nobel prize if i am not mistaken
He didnt use it to call his family like you said

You made a big point.

We deserve better than the immoral and nude-promoting programmes on our channels.

I have faculties who are educated and ready to give Nigerians live and reality programmes free of charge. They are only desirous of giving viewers alternative to immoral programmes.

The challenge is on who will sponsor the programme.
The government is supposed to be in the forefront of making sure we have safe and corruptless programmes to watch, but alas, I don't think they already think towards that.
If you have a good show, you can start small and hope to get sponsors, if the show gets popular.

Waiting for sponsors will get you nowhere. People stake their life's savings on what they believe in.

grin grin grin

You know the producers of the programmes are business people. They will only prefer to invest in a high return show and BBnaija is extremely viable.

He definitely isn't the only one to have won the top prize. I watched two men winning 10m then. Those were beautiful days

nah! The story OP told is 2different people, ( winners of "who wants to be a millionaire" Nigeria and America).
Aroma is the only one that has won it to the finals in Nigeria, but he wasn't the one that said he wants to phone to tell his family he has won,

That guy is an American and he only used a life line and said he wants to phone his dad, when his dad picked they thought he was going to ask his dad the question but instead he told his dad that he just won (don't remember how many millions they get to) the final, and told the correct answer.
John Capenter! cool

chai, Op can lie, Aroma did great on the show, he used his lifeline and he never called to inform his family he was about to win, he called a friend to verify an answer, i guess you want to spice up the gist, but come on, do not lie to us like that, we are not suffering from short attention span and i wasn't that long ago cuz we're not kids here.

One doesn't need to sit down to reality shows to study the human nature, if that's what you're implying.

As a matter of fact, knowing that there's a camera around always will make you consciously or unconsciously act for the camera.

So the behaviour of the inmates or is it housemates are forced in that sense.

And the reason most people watch it is the same reason people stalk other people on social media.

And before social media, gathering to gossip about others.

Obviously, voyeurism is part of the human nature.

No slight on those who watch it. We all have our pastimes.

Next ten or 20 years you will also call naira marley and zlantan great legendary musicians,,,
The way u are calling asa dare art alade and fela

Its important we give Nigerians an alternative to the extremely vulgar programmes on the air

remember him. I think he is a professor. Very cool and calm when tackling those trivia. And I think he didn't exhaust his lifeline . he was that intelligent. His winning question was about Marie Curie.. first time I ever heard the name.
